I remember him telling me that it was a special one but he never actually said why.

As Linas says - it could have Dynamic Radar Cruise Control which would make it quite special.

Printed on the cruise control stalk there would be a small image of a car next to the speedo image (page 142 in the manual) whereas cars without this fitted only have an image of the speedo printed on the stalk (page 139 in the manual).

My brand new Hillman Imp AYL273H in 1969 cost me  £609 I think 🤔

Super car, loved it to bits …. the front heater pipe ( in the front boot area ) burst going up Detling Hill ….. I got very wet

it seemed to be a very capacious “ passion wagon “ in its day and our youth ……. Lovely car too 😂

Lovely Malc, mine (PAJ 950M) ended up with fake sheepskin seat and steering wheel covers - a right tart. Nice to be bragging about Imps 😄

    Hi Neil

the Hillman Imp was a great little car, my girlfriend at the time had one and i was just happy to be picked up and taken somewhere, where I could drink.

But you have to man up and admit it is not the most manly of choices ( I knothat is unacceptable in this day and age, but he didn’t buy it in this day and age 😂)

saying that I would have driven a Hairdryer as any transport was the greatest thing in the world if you were the first one out of your group to have transport 👍🏻

    Hi Winston,

HaHa, admittedly not really manly at all but I liked my Imp - it bombed about really well. It had reversing lights fitted with a manual switch on the dash that I didnt always remember to turn off 😊

If you want a nice smell from your windscreen fluid (as well as effectiveness) pop into your nearest BMW dealer and get a bottle of their winter or summer strengths as necessary.  I drove BMWs before converting to Lexus nearly two decades ago but I still use their windscreen wash.  The stuff has occasionally been reformulated but the smell has remained basically unchanged - mildly antiseptic with a hint of violets, my nose tells me.  Not that I’ve tried, but It would probably work as an after-shave.

Sounds lovely Renato, good that you have stuck to what appeals to you....I'm a get what I'm given for the price kind of guy - but I will check it out, thanks.

Just talking about screenwash, I think it is a matter of higher concentration in winter?

I use diluted through to end of summer then start topping up with neat winter screenwash which can protect from freezing down to -5 or further depending which you choose. Using neat does smell a bit in the cabin when you spray your windscreen but I dont find it unpleasant.

Im very ancient now of course !

    Malc

    Lovely memories Malc😊

The imp was fun in its own way...74 M reg and a petrol blue colour...it was in a sad state in someones back garden full of pigeon baskets and not far off being a pigeon coop itself, knocked on the door and bought it for £300 in 1980. Turned out nice after doing it up and served me well for two years...used to call it Buzz Bomb 🤣
