Hello Red, I haven't done the boot struts yet, my boot seems heavy to lift and quite easy to come down so I guess it wont be long. I'll have a look at SGS when I look to buy them (Blue Print and MaxGrear dont seem to have the boot struts).

Ok thanks Mr Vlad, I'll know for next time.
I was just really pointing out the quality of the struts received for the price - I've seen Stabilus struts for sale at around £30 each.
-
Thought it was time to change the bonnet struts - they kept the bonnet up but it didnt take much finger force for it to slam down again.
Looking on eBay for some good quality ones I found a set of Blue Print struts 2 for £44, these arrived labelled as Blue Print and turn out to be made by Stabilus Germany printed on the struts.
Now fitted and what a difference 🙂

Hi, If your filter housing is the same as this ....maybe just a seized / ruined locking screw as in the video. If you're mechanic is trying to unscrew the bottom part with the top part still bolted to the car - he / she might not even know its there securing the two parts together.

Hi, I picked up a 2008 IS and the drivers side bootlid is slightly proud of the bodywork, when my wife first saw she wondered if the boot was open.
No accident damage from history nor what I can see on the panels.
I had a look where the U shaped hinge meets the bootlid but as you say they seem to be centreing bolts. Is there a part number for the replacement to allow adjustment, or would a standard 10mm bolt do the job? (Happen to know what length before I take the one of the bolts off to measure?)
Striker is the alternative, I see the 2 bolts, I've ordered a trim removal tool as getting the trim clips off without is a nightmare. To get the right side to sit lower would I move it slightly to the left?
First thing I'd check is the gas struts, is the drivers side one longer than the passenger side? Some like to fit a more powerful strut (which can be a bit longer) to make the boot raise automatically when you press to unlock...I only know because I've just been watching youtube videos about it and considered doing the mod myself - anyway if it has been modded like this it can cause the boot lid to be proud 🙂

Hi all,
Found that my drivers door mirror does not adjust left or right although it adjusts up and down fine, the passenger side mirror adjusts perfectly.
Just wondered if anyone knows what I can do to try and fix it.
Cheers for any help

Hi, so heres a few pic's of the new to us IS250 - a couple of things were missing - tow hook, centre engine cover, all the engine bay panel clips were broken and a door key cap... all now replaced 🙂 The paint had flaked off on the wiper arms below the hinges - now repainted. Theres still a broken rear reflector in the bumper and not so happy with the cheap Chinese tyres that will have to go also the wheels need a refurb. Not so bad for a 16 year old car 🙂 🙂 very happy with it.

Hi Neil and welcome to Lexus ownership especially the is250 👍and the best Lexus forum there is. We're here to help when you need and want it. Just look in the gen 2 IS section as there's loads of threads in there to read and learn. Enjoy your car. A few photos would be nice. What spec car is yours? What made you go for a Lexus and especially the is250? What was your previous car?
Thanks for the lovely welcome Vladimir, I'll post some pics of it soon - it's a SE-L Petrol Auto, Astral Black with 93K on the clock. Weve never had a car like it, it's like a different world to sit in and drive. We looked at all different types of automatic cars and couldnt choose one at first (wife and I have medical issues so auto only) then we spotted a Lexus, it took us a while to choose the right one but eventually we have a lovely IS250 🙂

Hi, nice to meet you all .
Just bought a 2006 IS250 Petrol Auto - what a beautiful car! I'm busy picking up some missing bits and bobs for it but otherwise the car is all working perfectly.
Hope I can pick up a few tips with you and I'll chip in if I can to help anyone along the way.
All the best
