  1. The-Acre I have air suspension but wouldn't of thought that would make replacement any more difficult.
  2. Malc1 the ball joints where an advisory on last MOT. Got impression from lexus dealer to replace ASAP. Worn ball joints might explain the very slight knocking sound/vibration going over rippled tarmac.
  3. Hi Malc1 they might well of been replaced but have lasted well. Roads up here full of potholes small large deep and shallow even with careful driving you still can't avoid them. ☹️
  4. The-acre I've used rockauto for parts when I had an american RV. They are very good and efficient. Only took 2 days to reach UK. Then another 3 weeks to get to me. Stuck in a customs warehouse until carrier picked them up.
  5. Howplum injecting ball joint sounds an interesting option. Would need to speak to garage that would be removing and refitting parts about sending them off for refurbishment. They might not want an immobile car for a few days/week. Have another car to use while this work was carried out.
  6. Malc1 yeah going to cost ££££. Lexus quoted me £1600 fitted😥. Steep but should out last me. 300k miles and 20 years of use original parts have lasted very well. Seen wishbone with ball joint on Ebay very cheap . Cheap means issues and buy twice. 2 wishbones for £120 delivered has set of alarm bells to avoid at all costs.
  7. Hi which supplier is best for upper ball joints on front and rear suspension arm ball joints. Where can I find part numbers for these parts. Thanks David Thanks David
  8. Hi where do LS430 owners buy suspension parts from. Need an upper ball joint at front and back. Understand balljounys are part of wishbone .
  9. This is what my LS430 has been up to over last two days. Drive to Inverness for new windscreen. Good drive down with intermittent rain. Screen fitted with fuss. Fitter only made two comments one was airbag/seat belt warning light on. Other was auto wiper mode was not responding. Auto wiper worked on way back and warning light went off. Filled the tank with 99 octane petrol. What a difference in way engine responds. Can only get 95 E5 where I am. Today had to use lexus as my other car has flat battery. Went to collect wood for new gravel boards. That raised a few eyebrows at timber yard. They are more use to trucks and pick ups.
  10. Hi does anyone know the name or part number for the white fittings that are fitted into metal holes for trim clips to be pressed into.
  11. Domturner that's very good mpg. Stop start traffic is what ruined what could of been a much more impressive mpg. On one of my posts I put photo up of 35.2mpg for a trip from Wick to Edinburgh over the Scottish Highlands. Return trip was 32.1mpg which had heavier traffic and tourists with no clue about driving in the Highlands. Speed all over the place, wanting to take photos from car on single lane roads not letting anyone overtake, then trying to perform a right turn when there was no right turn for miles.
  12. hockeyedwards that is good to know. Neoprene is very easy to get hold off. So why previous owner went overboard with silicone is baffling.
  13. Highland John I have used 2000 and 3000 wet and dry wet on a slow drill to remove film. I do use low tack masking tape around the light lens. Then use a uv protective clear spray to stop or slow down the degrading of lens.
  14. Went to clean windscreen on inside as had a film of something on it. Then started to see 4 stone chips and 2 very small cracks in it. Think a lot of this only showed up after a very hot day up here 27c (usual summer temp is 20c-22c). Then came the thunderstorm (highly unusual) rained on scale that ive not seen in uk. Similar to auzzie cyclone or bad storm on Canada's west coast. Phoned insurance company for go a head to claim for a new screen. Got go head no problem. To get done a home earliest date was end of July ☹️. If I take My LS430 to company windscreen fitting centre in Inverness it can be done next Wednesday. So I'm off to Inverness next week. Another drive for the LS430 to stretch its legs.
  15. Return trip from Edinburgh was far from smooth. First off went to fill up fuel tank. At filling station could not get fuel filler flap open. So back to lexus to get it sorted. Nice technican eventually got it open. Have a weak spring on flap. Got the official temporary fix from lexus for fuel filler flap. A folded sponge scourer 🤔. Technician was very down to earth and told me that all the technicians wanted to have a look at it and take for a test drive. Mileage amazed them as they have never seen a lexus with this much mileage on clock. Also it very nice inside and out. Went off to fill up and started journey home. Massive queue to get on to the new Forth bridge. About 10 miles from Perth had a strange feeling coming from car. In services at Perth I went to check wheel nuts. At least 3 nuts on every wheel were very loose. Foresight before I left I put my usual box of essential road trip items in boot. Which included a torque wrench. Wheels tighten up and away up the A9. When I got of forth bridge a merc was along side so I decided to how good the acceration is on a LS430. It didn't disappoint but merc was C class AMG 65? 5.5 supercharged engine. Could hear the supercharger whine. Gave up at 70mph ? trying to keep up with it. Then met several drivers who have no clue about the highway code. Made it a nightmare to follow them. Too much traffic heading south to attempt any form of over taking. At inverness checked wheel nuts again only a couple needed tightening again. Rest of trip was uneventful. Only managed 32.6mpg on return trip. Still good mpg considering type of road and driving "style" of other drivers. Noticed on way back that exhaust was quieter not sure how as it was never touched at lexus. Have single pipe from front Y section and a big bore rear silencer. Sound is far from intrusive, not sure how it sounds from outside. Ball joints get a price for them and fitting. Did notice that rear tyres have got quite low tread depth and wrong speed spec. Have 150mph tyres instead of 150+ mph tyres. Means a visit to local tyre guru. What he doesn't know about tyres is not worth knowing.
  16. PCM I am going to sort out rust by sanding off loose/flakey and using lanoguard.
  17. Malc1 I have no service history with my LS430. How would I go about finding service history.
  18. Malc1 price of my LS430 was £1k originally owner wanted over £1500. With final bill for repairs and servicing I've probably still got a good deal.
  19. Lmafudd is larger memory card to record more cases of mechanics driving your car without respect.
  20. Malc1 glad you think my LS430 looks good for its age and mileage. It passed its MOT today with 2 advisories. Near side rear upper ball joint slight play and off side front upper ball joint. Get those sorted when I'm back home. It will be good for you to see my LS430 and me 😂.
  21. Malc1 lexus has removed the heat shields as mentioned in video possibility of them cutting O2 sensor wires.
  22. Hopefully this has copy of video and inspection sheet. 🤞 https://communications.pinewooddms.com/Workshop/Portal/VHCSummary/VHCSummary.aspx?J=e06c7225-f1f6-4b24-a7e3-cee4b11eb0df&D=5d5ed6eb-226c-458b-9d22-595a389d3900
