  1. Hi which supplier is best for upper ball joints on front and rear suspension arm ball joints. Where can I find part numbers for these parts. Thanks David Thanks David
  2. Hi where do LS430 owners buy suspension parts from. Need an upper ball joint at front and back. Understand balljounys are part of wishbone .
  3. This is what my LS430 has been up to over last two days. Drive to Inverness for new windscreen. Good drive down with intermittent rain. Screen fitted with fuss. Fitter only made two comments one was airbag/seat belt warning light on. Other was auto wiper mode was not responding. Auto wiper worked on way back and warning light went off. Filled the tank with 99 octane petrol. What a difference in way engine responds. Can only get 95 E5 where I am. Today had to use lexus as my other car has flat battery. Went to collect wood for new gravel boards. That raised a few eyebrows at timber yard. They are more use to trucks and pick ups.
  4. Hi does anyone know the name or part number for the white fittings that are fitted into metal holes for trim clips to be pressed into.
  5. Domturner that's very good mpg. Stop start traffic is what ruined what could of been a much more impressive mpg. On one of my posts I put photo up of 35.2mpg for a trip from Wick to Edinburgh over the Scottish Highlands. Return trip was 32.1mpg which had heavier traffic and tourists with no clue about driving in the Highlands. Speed all over the place, wanting to take photos from car on single lane roads not letting anyone overtake, then trying to perform a right turn when there was no right turn for miles.
  6. hockeyedwards that is good to know. Neoprene is very easy to get hold off. So why previous owner went overboard with silicone is baffling.
  7. Highland John I have used 2000 and 3000 wet and dry wet on a slow drill to remove film. I do use low tack masking tape around the light lens. Then use a uv protective clear spray to stop or slow down the degrading of lens.
  8. Went to clean windscreen on inside as had a film of something on it. Then started to see 4 stone chips and 2 very small cracks in it. Think a lot of this only showed up after a very hot day up here 27c (usual summer temp is 20c-22c). Then came the thunderstorm (highly unusual) rained on scale that ive not seen in uk. Similar to auzzie cyclone or bad storm on Canada's west coast. Phoned insurance company for go a head to claim for a new screen. Got go head no problem. To get done a home earliest date was end of July ☹️. If I take My LS430 to company windscreen fitting centre in Inverness it can be done next Wednesday. So I'm off to Inverness next week. Another drive for the LS430 to stretch its legs.
  9. Return trip from Edinburgh was far from smooth. First off went to fill up fuel tank. At filling station could not get fuel filler flap open. So back to lexus to get it sorted. Nice technican eventually got it open. Have a weak spring on flap. Got the official temporary fix from lexus for fuel filler flap. A folded sponge scourer 🤔. Technician was very down to earth and told me that all the technicians wanted to have a look at it and take for a test drive. Mileage amazed them as they have never seen a lexus with this much mileage on clock. Also it very nice inside and out. Went off to fill up and started journey home. Massive queue to get on to the new Forth bridge. About 10 miles from Perth had a strange feeling coming from car. In services at Perth I went to check wheel nuts. At least 3 nuts on every wheel were very loose. Foresight before I left I put my usual box of essential road trip items in boot. Which included a torque wrench. Wheels tighten up and away up the A9. When I got of forth bridge a merc was along side so I decided to how good the acceration is on a LS430. It didn't disappoint but merc was C class AMG 65? 5.5 supercharged engine. Could hear the supercharger whine. Gave up at 70mph ? trying to keep up with it. Then met several drivers who have no clue about the highway code. Made it a nightmare to follow them. Too much traffic heading south to attempt any form of over taking. At inverness checked wheel nuts again only a couple needed tightening again. Rest of trip was uneventful. Only managed 32.6mpg on return trip. Still good mpg considering type of road and driving "style" of other drivers. Noticed on way back that exhaust was quieter not sure how as it was never touched at lexus. Have single pipe from front Y section and a big bore rear silencer. Sound is far from intrusive, not sure how it sounds from outside. Ball joints get a price for them and fitting. Did notice that rear tyres have got quite low tread depth and wrong speed spec. Have 150mph tyres instead of 150+ mph tyres. Means a visit to local tyre guru. What he doesn't know about tyres is not worth knowing.
  10. PCM I am going to sort out rust by sanding off loose/flakey and using lanoguard.
  11. Malc1 I have no service history with my LS430. How would I go about finding service history.
  12. Malc1 price of my LS430 was £1k originally owner wanted over £1500. With final bill for repairs and servicing I've probably still got a good deal.
  13. Lmafudd is larger memory card to record more cases of mechanics driving your car without respect.
  14. Malc1 glad you think my LS430 looks good for its age and mileage. It passed its MOT today with 2 advisories. Near side rear upper ball joint slight play and off side front upper ball joint. Get those sorted when I'm back home. It will be good for you to see my LS430 and me 😂.
  15. Malc1 lexus has removed the heat shields as mentioned in video possibility of them cutting O2 sensor wires.
  16. Hopefully this has copy of video and inspection sheet. 🤞 https://communications.pinewooddms.com/Workshop/Portal/VHCSummary/VHCSummary.aspx?J=e06c7225-f1f6-4b24-a7e3-cee4b11eb0df&D=5d5ed6eb-226c-458b-9d22-595a389d3900

  18. ŴVHC.pdfVHC.pdfLmafudd yes you are right car is 19 years old, 333000 miles on clock. Body wise it is immaculate even technician on video walk around said i had superficial rust. Bought with known issues for handbrake, so expected issues mainly in braking dept as I had warnings in written and big red triangle on dash. Which I remedied by replacing "cut" brske wear sensors 🤔. Test drive before purchase never gave any indication of wheel bearing or back end feeling "sloppy/loose". The 230 mile drive to dealer from very far north of Scotland to Edinburgh was very smooth and relaxing. Even booting it off the line it went like stink with no tugging or steering correction nesscary. I now understand that technicians that work for lexus as marque err on the side of caution. The sheet listing everything that needed to be fixed comes in 3 different groups. Nesscary, recommend and OK. To be fair to lexus they didn't find a lot wrong. See if I can attach inspection sheet and video of my car.
  19. What did I do with my lexus today, took a huge gamble. Dropped my LS430 off at Lexus Edinburgh, all very efficient and polite. Courtesy coffee given. Went through list of work for approval and mot test. Got a video walk around of my LS430 and faults. Lexus discovered a leaking core plug 😬. Other bad news is condenser on air-con has no cooling fins but still in working order no leaks, steering rack gaiter torn (out of stock so lexus is getting me one from a motor factor 🙄), near side wheel bearing has excessive play (never felt or heard it), brake pipe corrosion, high level brake light bulb out. Now comes the biggy bushes are worn in rear trailing arms. Lexus do not replace bushes only complete arms. Pair fitted is £2500 but not avaliable until July at earliest. MOT is booked in for Friday. Lexus has decided with my agreement carry on with MOT Test and see if a get an advisory on trailing arm bushes. Now in hindsight I should of booked MOT first then decided what to do with my LS430. Knew it would need some repairs when I bought it so was prepared to sink a few thousand into it. A few thousand has turned into a lot of thousands. If my LS430 fails MOT I will have to see if they will let me drive it away, so I can get it sorted at home. If not it's going to fun trying to get to work for Saturday night. One way of looking at this is I could of paid a few thousand for an LS430 and still been in same boat. Repairs will be up to lexus quality standard. Comments good bad and ugly most welcome, blunt comments greatly appreciated as I prefer a straight answer to straight question with no faffing about. A spade is spade 🙂.
  20. Hi everyone have made it down in fairly good time (6 hours instead of google 5 hours). Had to stop twice for comfort stops. Had numerous road works to contend with plus motorhomes and caravans to over take. Cruised at speed limit as far too many average speed cameras south of Aviemore. My average mpg is 34.2 mpg as shown in photo. Lexus claim 35mpg as best you could get. Very impressive considering part of journey was not very fuel efficient and Scottish hills are known for a long climb up them. On one of my comfort stops I met a LS400 coming in opposite direction to me got a pleasant surprise when he waved at me 🙂. Must be lexus thing waving at other owners/drivers.
  21. Thanks for info. Might not be able to look at it before my trip to lexus Edinburgh. See how much time I've got tomorrow.
  22. See post under brakes. A step forward in resolving brake issue. Off the Lexus Edinburgh next Tuesday. See how my LS430 eats the miles up between me and Edinburgh.
  23. Hi Steve 2006 changed my brake sensors today. No clips on brake pads but bit that slides in is a tight fit. Brake warning lights have now disappeared from dash 🙂. Brake pedal feel is now more how I would expect it to be. No sinking pedal. Have a sticky foot handbrake pedal. Probably needs oiling/greasing somewhere. Can get pedal up by putting foot under it while pulling handbrake release.
  24. There is a theory that a full change of fluid is actually bad for auto boxes. On previous cars with auto boxes I use to drain what ever came out through drain plug. Then refilled to correct level. This usually gives 50% new transmission fluid. This then acts a cleaner then a further change a few thousand miles later. So i would end up with approx 75% fresh oil.
