  1. I've noticed this recently on mine when I use accessories, for example I'll have the AC and with today being sunny chilled seats on, if it is at idle and I select a single wipe the revs dip from about 700 to close to 500 but then come back. Similar when I put it into reverse, the camera comes on and it briefly dips but comes back. It's recently had the battery and alternator replaced. It's a car that has lived most it's life in rural Northern Ireland so has had plenty of chance to stretch it's legs, 80k miles.
  2. Would this solve a case where the bootlid is slightly proud on one side?
  3. Trying to trace this down, it sounds like it is coming from underneath the drivers seat. I notice there are 2 heatshields one for each pipe underneath the front seats, the metal can be "folded", but I can't see anything loose. I'm wondering if it is coming from somewhere more forward, the exhaust dissappears into the engine bay. From the top of the engine I can't seem to see a manifold cover.
  4. Drove it at lunchtime, and the noise is starting to sound a little metallic. I'm suspecting exhaust heat shield.
  5. I'm getting a similar noise, but I can reproduce it when the car is in Park and I rev at 1300rpm. Surely there wouldn't be pressure on wishbones when the car isn't moving? It started happening on a windy morning so I suspect something has got caught in the wind and is rubbing. I just can't see what.
  6. This morning with it being a windy morning I was driving back from childcare, and I was stuck behind a van doing 40mph, so the car was sitting at low revs when I heard a rubbing noise. It sounded like the liner was hitting the wheel or something. I wasn't far from the house so I got home and couldn't notice anything. There had been twigs etc on the road from the wind so I'd assumed perhaps a twig was stuck somewhere. So during a break I went out and looked again, no rubbing in the arches, but I noticed even when it was parked up, if I revved the car slightly to 1300rpm there was the same rubbing noise, not moving so can discount tyres/liners/bearings etc. I double checked the plastics in the engine bay, and while they're missing some push-in studs, they don't seem to be vibrating to make the noise. I'm guessing maybe exhaust? A cursory glance couldn't see anything amiss. I notice a post here - it sounds almost like that video, but coming from front right drivers side. And as it does it when stopped and revved, I suspect wishbones aren't the case.
  7. Thanks for responses! I was confused and looked up youtube myself as I was picturing like a hatchback style struts, but alas - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2zfzwM5Yg8 The struts hidden behind the trim, I'll have a look and see! I've tried pulling on the gooseneck U bracket, but doesn't do anything. I couldn't get at the striker but a trim tool has arrived so I can pull the trim panel off and get at it properly.
  8. Hi, I picked up a 2008 IS and the drivers side bootlid is slightly proud of the bodywork, when my wife first saw she wondered if the boot was open. No accident damage from history nor what I can see on the panels. I had a look where the U shaped hinge meets the bootlid but as you say they seem to be centreing bolts. Is there a part number for the replacement to allow adjustment, or would a standard 10mm bolt do the job? (Happen to know what length before I take the one of the bolts off to measure?) Striker is the alternative, I see the 2 bolts, I've ordered a trim removal tool as getting the trim clips off without is a nightmare. To get the right side to sit lower would I move it slightly to the left?
