  1. Does anyone know how to stop the following (in our 2021 UX300e): When using wired Android Auto and using an app (e.g. Google Maps), when making a change to the climate control (e.g. turning the temperature down on the passenger side), the temperatures and other info appear on about 75% of the screen for about 5 seconds, thereby hiding the Android Auto text and blocking the map (much to the annoyance of the driver!). Can the text be changed to only take up the top of the screen (the way the fan speed does), or change the setting to either not display, or only display for a much shorter time? I know the workaround is to not touch the climate control whilst using the map, but I hope there is a setting to change instead. Thanks, Arne
  2. I contacted my local dealer a few weeks ago to ask them about getting the fix for our UX300e. They said wait to be contacted by Lexus UK. So this won't be a quick process!
  3. My local dealer in Kent was offering to update my 2016 NX300h for approx £175 inc VAT. Quote was in September 2023. I think this also helps for updating the speed camera warnings, as mine has missed a few. You can check how old your map data is as follows:
  4. But sadly, like with home networking and "smart" devices, security was an afterthought. The original design (back in the 1980s) was for convenience and connectivity without thinking about the "what ifs" of some nefarious person or device being connected and what could go wrong. Stable door, bolt and horse spring to mind! Cars being stolen in under 1 minute, strangers being able to view baby monitors, control your boiler / HVAC and more unintended consequences follow.
  5. Hmm odd, but not a complete surprise. The battery on my keyfob for my NX300h seem to run down far too quickly, with the "Key battery Low" warning coming up far too often (this happens on our UX300e too). I have disabled the keyless entry to make the battery last longer and to prevent the risk of a relay attack. It is worth the minor inconvenience to press the button to unlock the car and disable keyless entry again each time I enter/leave the vehicle. Compared with not being able to unlock the car, or worse the car is no longer there to open!
  6. Yes, I see them very often .. and so many times it looks like one fog light has broken on an approaching car and it comes on far too often when just making a small correction on a straight road etc. If no new cars can disable them, then I might have to start buying older cars next time around.
  7. Thank you all for the input. This clearly seems to be a personal preference (a Marmite feature?!). For the record, I never use AHBC as I find it far too slow to turn off and back on again (it gets confused far too easily by road signs and other objects), so at least my brain and reaction speeds are still better than the electronic gubbins in the NX300h. I'll have to wait to see how my reflexes compare with the NX350h at a future date! Something to look forward to in my early 50s!!!
  8. Thank you Colin. I will give that a try .. no doubt I will be defeating by our friend CanBus, but it's worth a go! I will probably hold off using duct tape on the outside as that will look pretty ghastly unless it is colour matched to the trim around the light.
  9. This is why I think taking out wheel & tyre insurance is a good idea, as the quality of the roads in the UK is so terrible these days.
  10. This article includes key relay attacks AND CAN bus. A horrific summary of the lax security on our expensive pride and joys. I'm certainly dreading my next insurance renewal, and am looking at Ghost IIs, steering locks and more.
  11. Update on this subject. I still really dislike the cornering lights and cannot get used to them. Turning into a country lane in the dark and I still brake sharply thinking another car is coming the other way due to my own annoying "pop up" lights. I think they are unsafe and really should be optional. I live in a rural area so turn into country lanes in the dark on a regular basis. I asked my local Lexus dealer to disable the cornering lights and they said this isn't possible - which I really cannot understand why. Surely they can just disconnect the wiring? If no-one on the LOC can find a solution, does anyone know any good weatherproof tape that I can discretely put over these abhorrent techno gizmos from hell? Rant over, but I really cannot stand these little gimmicky lights (almost as bad as the 'rolling Christmas trees' that Mercedes are making where the whole of the front bonnet is one giant LED light bar (I can only assume Mercedes have shares in the company that makes LED bulbs?!).
  12. Do you think this could also be the answer to my other post about disabling the front cornering lights? I really hate the temporary light that appears on one side when I start turning into a country lane at night as I think someone is coming the other way. My local Lexus dealer said they cannot disable the cornering lights, which seems ridiculous . I am sure they can just disconnect them?
  13. @Jim1977 I think some of the forum members from higher risk areas may start parking their car outside your house to get that renewal price?!
  14. I would like that too (something similar to the views in Teslas). Side view will be helpful to get more footage of people attacking wheel arches (e.g. CANBUS theft attempts), door dingers etc, but only if the footage is uploaded to the cloud (something an aftermarket box can do I believe for Teslas). I wonder if is there a unit that uses the built-in rear and side cameras (for those with the 360 panoramic parking installed), then we only need to install a front camera and minimise too much non-standard kit and avoid more unsightly boxes stuck to windows. I haven't heard of one on the market sadly.
