  1. And no doubt like most Yank tanks they avoid using any semblence of technological advancement........... in favour of a bigger engine

They've still got a live rear axle but the 4.6 has 300BHP, not bad for a yanktank.

My work mate has started up a company importing them and his one is on it's way from the states. Altogether I think he paid about £25K for a blue 4.6 V8.

I've been taking the mick out of him about it, but secretly I think it looks sweet, a lot like the Mach 1. The mustangs from the late 70's up until recently were awful in my opinion, they even made a 4 cylinder one! This one gets things back on track.

I Bet it's awful on fuel though, he reckons it'll be about 20-25MPG

    Somehow I don't think so.

  2. Self imposed limit - yes

Reason it is 155 is the kph equivalent - 300kph

    Well that was almost interesting

186 MPH is 300KPH, and it's the bike manufacturers which are capping it to that speed as they too were scared of getting compulsory speed restrictors. More than 1 bike manufacturer said the 186MPH voluntary limit was "for safety" (as obviously you'll be fine if you fall off at 186MPH, above this speed you may get hurt.)

Just a theory but I believe the self-imposed 155MPH limit for most cars is down to revenue collection and government fascists, as over this speed gatso's seem to be unable to capture you on camera.

Not that i'd ever try this theory on my Fireblade :whistling:

  3. When I went off shift on thursday I was still logged in and the guys at work changed all my details and started off a new thread slagging off Lexus.

It looks to have been quite amusing, especially the replies.

They have been told off and promise never to do it again .

For the record i'm not gay, or a ****, and I love my Lex which doesn't sound like a lawnmower.

I'll make sure to sign out in future.

Make sure you log out when you leave work, especially if you've got workmates like mine.

Sorry for any offence these dicks caused

Anyway, i'm off to the blue oyster for a white wine spritzer...

    Bottoms up!

  4. Just for the record guys, i've just found what my work "mates" have done on the site.

  5. sounds like a two stroke lawnmower.

I would say that their service is over rated, I have not had a good experience yet.

Services are completely cack I agree !!

We cant just praise Lexus the whole time - after all, they aint exactly Jaguar are they!!

I also have a corsa diesel which is an awesome car! great on economy, comfortable, reliable, stunning looks!! a real head turner in spearmint silver!

come and check my website out.... http://www.adamsstreetbar.com/

  6. Ive had my LS400 for a while now and I dont see what all the fuss is about!!

Its a bit ugly and under-powered and sounds like a two stroke lawnmower. I have to also add that when I go dogging it shows out a bit what with the smell and it's shear size! i have to add also that i find it very difficult to get birds while i'm driving around in it and even when i speak to one in a bar, as soon as they find out what i'm driving they usually slap me and leave! does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me???? :driving:

  7. a common misconception is that if you run your tank down to the lowest levels, that the fuel pump filter will get clogged up with crud

the filter doesnt move, it is located at the bottom of the tank, wether the tank is full or empty it will still have the same chances of clogging up, the fuel is constantly being swirled around, if there is crud in there it aint just sitting on the bottom

Like you say Bazza it depends where the fuel filter(s) is/are but if there's some old large pieces of sediment at the bottom and you run the tank dry it can suck these large pieces in to the fuel system, depending on where the fuel pickup is too. Some cars have more than 1 fuel filter between the tank and engine. It isn't a misconception as it does happen. If the IS has just the one filter inside the tank i'd recommend changing it if these symptoms occurred.

  8. As soon as I read this thread for the 1st time 2 minutes ago it reminded me of my Astra GTE, which had exactly the same symptoms. As an engineer I understand these symptoms could be down to a variety of faults but seeing as you ran your fuel tank almost dry recently i'd definitely start by following star a's advice.

which can be anything from crud in the filter (do you run your tank dry much), fuel pump playing up,

When a fuel filter gets clogged over time it's usually a more gradual hesitancy which doesn't get any better. When you get a reasonably good fuel filter and there's big pieces of sediment going into it (from going down to fumes for example), it blocks the fuel path then clears to give you full power again. A replacement fuel filter may not remedy the fault as the sediment may still be between the tank and the fuel filter. I know it seems drastic but if a fuel filter doesn't cure it the tank may have to come off to get cleaned out properly. Before you replace the filter Aido take off the old one and pump some fuel from your fuel line into a clear container. This will give you a chance to examine the fuel and may even clear the dirty fuel.Sorry to go on but I understand problems like this are a pain.

    Good luck Aido.

  9. Not so sure that I'd stop for ANYONE not having blues and twos!

You can never tell whos in there - orange lights are easy to pick up.

Scarface may be able to tell us the legalities of NOT stopping - I would (if poss) drive to a police station and let them follow.

Too much carjacking going on at the mo

    OK I'm a wimp!!

You're not a wimp mate that's sensible, it could be anyone.

I wouldn't stop for them either it doesn't matter how hard you are if they're armed (and let's face it these cowards usually are) you've got to hand it over or get stabbed/ shot.

It's obvious the traffic police have been reduced so much there isn't enough eyes on the road anymore so they're palming it off onto someone else. It's not the Traffic Policemen/ womens' fault, it's the muppetts in charge that cut the traffic units and try and use static cameras/VOSA to do the job on the cheap.
