took my metro in for a MOT from a long running used garage, car not been run in a while

came back walking round the car with the emmisions probe waving in his hand sayin yeah thats passed :):)

no idea what it was reading but i got 12 months mot for it

, this guy is great he will pass it HOWEVER !!!!

because he knows me very well he does a very thorough MOT and i mean thorough, if anything "looks" like its going he tells me to get it done , but still passes it , only cos he knows ill be coming to him for the work :)

now i have seen this one below in america, seems reasonably priced for everything but will it be suitable for mine? (1996 gs300 sport)

i had a supra owners handbook that had both american and uk diagrams and stuff, can any one look at this link and see if its the same as yours, and look in ur owners books to see if theres has usa diagrams

Went to lexus sheffield to have the 2 alarm fobs programmed to car, service bod says ,hmmm not sure these are right, drove it to service bays (my car looks and sounds as nice from the outside) 2 techies there, remove glovebox and say................ " u got wrong remotes R kid!!!!!!"

apparantly the ecu for the alarm on these series of cars lives behind the glove box and my car is a 1995 car NOT a 1996 and has a button on the key type (on a 1995)? sensor for this is on parcel shelf, u buy keys and a chip for about £200.00

plus this is what gets me

all earlier models had none deep disk rear alloys , they wernt a optional extra on earlier models (not according to lex web site)

my spoiler is differnt to normal gs's as its got a brake light init gs's had parcel shelf lights but with spoiler covering it up had to stick outer one on

things he was saing didnt sound right, but i bowed down to the machanics knowledge on other stuff

no not tried that , was going to do the , resetting the ecu first, but if that works aswell ill give that a go, right back in 5 minutes

sod it ive tried to get the centre console off and managed to loose a screw and break a clip off, so im going to let lexus do em both , got quoted 50 odd quid for both doing , at least if they break owt they pay :)

ive always been reading this topic , but it seemed to me that he was going to take it back to garage or get a "sniff test done"

lex if you want my advice bro, id do this pref in this order

1, take it to a garage and get a sniff test done and compression test, after this you can find out if the hg is gone,

the impellors do corrode on the water pump

im olny speaking on experiance, with the supra , they used to be really bad on head gasket failures, ive done a few and there a pain up the *****

the white froth , im not sure about but it dont sound good ;)

You can get a water pump from any motor factors, but id rule out a bhg first for def

as for the water pump i had a supra , (7mgte engine) , the same prob, water had no force round system , bought new rad,thermo and all that same as yours, ended up the impellors had just warn that much it wasnt doing anything aparantly not using proper coolant can cause this but not 100% sure on that one, had it sniff tested, no bhg, bought a new water pump for about 40£ took a few hours to fit, no probs again

but id suggest a sniff test first, if thats ok and u want to spend a bit more on it , get a new WP :)

no as far as i know it goes some thing like this

(bare in mind im not a postie im a driver thats all ) so i can only go on OUR side of the busness

we collect, goes to a central hub, gets sorted on sort frames, then goes to other hubs, eg if we get a scotland or a liverpool its goes to either a plane or a 40 footer :) from there it gets sorted again in to small area post codes, then again to a posties walk

then to you

but seeing as im on special duties it might be different

its same with parcels,

u deliver, they go to main sorting office (hub) then on a night in a container go to the hub closest to the delivery point , then sorted into post codes, then to a walk, thats basically it ,

i remember when i got set on for RM i got taken round the Leeds entral sorting office and that place is MASSIVE (shame im not there now) but any way there are a loads of bags, loads of machines for sorting and a crap loads of people ,
