  1. The snow's pretty bad in the North East and I can't even get mine off the drive . Well I can , if I reverse out of the garage like a bat out of hell so it just about slithers off the (slightly uphill) drive before the snow on my drive has any impact . Infact thats the easy part . Getting the thing to move forwards once its on the road is another matter so these days I've learnt not to even try .
  2. Yeah? They did that a few months back too . Great buy for anyone other than a Lexus driver Thanks DaveW, I've never had any problems when I've had proper Nokia kits installed in the past neither and looks like I'll be shelling out this time too for one of those .
  3. Thanks , a Nokia 6230 which is fine, its just the car which isn't. I've never had any issues when having car kits fitted in my previous IS200's which is why I found it strange about Halfords . Its a full in-car kit by the way , and sound comes through the speakers too . The only other oddity is that they said there's no ariel, the phone's own ariel is used , which I didn;t like the sound of .
  4. Needing an In-car kit I was looking earlier this week on the Halfords website at their £99 offering (including fitting). Virtually every make of car was compatable except Lexus. The website said if a make wasn't mentioned to ring direct which I did . I was advised today that the car kit couldn't be fitted in the IS200 , maybe due to the radio or wiring behind it . Other car kits seem fine so I find this strange. Halfords' £99 kit is so much cheaper AND gets good reviews . Anyone have one of these installed in their Lexus just incase the guy got it wrong?
  5. Never mind snow , its just as lethal when its raining hard! In snow I can reverse mine off my drive but forget about going forward in the thing once on the road. The dealership told me to switch on the snow button, turn off traction control and fill the boot with bags of sand :-) but an IS200 is just too scary in those conditions and best left in the garage. Rather inconvenient when I'm a sales rep though ...
  6. My IS200 LE went in recently for its 10k service . Already, at 12 months old, the alloys were corroded apparently . The service manager brought it to my attention and replacement alloys were fitted under the warranty . I got the impression this was nothing unusual ie they were used to seeing this so soon so I agree with whats been said here and be aware alloys are showing signs of corrosion in nearly new cars too.
  7. I've seen the yellow car and really like it , but then I'm sad and always liked yellow cars, particularly Saab convertibles . Not sure I'd ever actually go for that colour though since, as people have said, its an acquired taste and maybe harder to sell when the time comes.
  8. Just joined tonight and read this with interest . I wrote my first Lexus off too in 2000 - I lost control on a bend , hit the central reservation, went into a spin and stopped after an encounter with a lamp-post head on :D . I was lucky to walk away unscathed but MY air-bags never inflated either which was a concern considering the force of the impact . I tried several times to get my hands on the inspecting engineers report without success but always wondered about the airbags not working.
