  1. Does anyone know the official name for the (aero looking) bumper for Altezza RS200 is called? The one with the black insert (carbon fibre) in the middle (front chin) and 2 protruding fog lamps on either sides. Is there an official name (or the name of the kit that it came with)? Or was it a specific model of Altezza that it came standard? Any info would be great.
  2. EXACTLY.... so now ..... anyone got an easy way to fix it? ... my arm gets kinda tired after 5 mins of pushin up on the roof lining!!!
  3. Hi there, First off, the standard 17 alloys look great with a KIT!!! Its possibly the best looking stock rim thats out there on the roads at the moment. I love my rims and wont trade them for anything! .. :D As for the styling kit. Are you referring to the factory kit IS kit? I have that one on my car at the moment, and for sure it made my car more valuable cos lots of ppl look for this option ..... over here in HK, its not really considered an aftermarket mod .. but rather a more expensive "option" for the car. Not to mention it looks great even tho its a stock kit. Lemme know if its the "stock" lexus kit you are referring to, and I can post my pic ... but there are tons on this site already anyways. Personally, I'm swapping out the bumper in the next couple of weeks for the Altezza bumper (more agressive looking - which is also available at the lexus dealers here in hk) ..... but keeping my original side and rear skirts. Go for it man!
  4. Any ideas as to what could be loose if its not my sunroof? ..... it flappin sound comes from behind the trailin edge of the sunroof. If i push against the roof lining, the sound goes away, i know something is loose within the roof and the lining, I just can't figure out what could be in there.
  5. Thats never happened to me regardless if the keys were in the ignition or not. I've only seen that happen to cars with aftermarket antitheft. Actually, my friend who has a kinda "souped" up IS straight from the dealer (a demo car), has this problem of autolocking. But I blieve he has an enhanced version of anti theft. He uses an external lexus fob to arm and disarm the anti theft. BTW, i finally had to change my battery .. :D ... so no need to fake the system anymore ...
  6. you're kidding! ... .... that means u hear that buzzin sound very often!? i mean (114km/hr .. thats regular highway speed). You can put up with that? Its really quite annoying , cos just regular driving on roads. . .causes the flappin noise to happen. Its quite embarassing when others are in my car. .... hehehe ... cos i've been preachin how good quality lexus is!
  7. Anyone got this annoying problem?: On roads that are slightly bumpy, I can hear an annoying flapping sound (like a piece of loose board bouncing up and down) in the roof of my IS. It sounds like its coming from inside the roof trim in the section behind the trailing edge of the sunroof. Anyone got any ideas about what can be loose? what can be causing the sound? Thanks.
  8. Hi there... im sorry, but were u looking for advice from a tech perspective?... or somethin else ....(ie legal etc etc?) If i were u, I'd probably sell the car (cut your losses) and refinance another IS from a better dealer. And probably get a good mechanic to do a full check on the next prospect IS before signing on the dotted line. Since u've had so many problems in such a short time, there's a good chance that things will just get worse (especially with the electrical system .....) Sometimes, u just bump into lemons.... even mercs/bimmers etc ... they all have them in the market. I guess i'm not much help ..... just my opinion i guess.
  9. for all u guys with ipods (or even better ipod mini), why dont u just use the FM transmitter? (no mods, no screws, no nothing) I have one for my mini ipod, it plugs into the cig lighter to charge it up, and it has 3 preset FMs to select. its cheap too ... comes out to around 20GBP. The radio FM reception for the IS is actually very good ... so my sound quality is actually digitally respectable even at high volumes.
  10. U might wanna check ur tires pressure. Does ur IS have the stock bridgestones? or fitted with somethin else? When I got my car, i noticed it was a bit noisy and loose on bumps .... turns out my tires were a bit underinflated. 33psi is the best (personal opinion). I often drive with my sunroof open on the highway and it still seems ok (less noisy than my audi TT coupe)
  11. Wow ... and i thought cars in HK were expensive! I hope u guys save on gas and parking to compensate! ^^" Im thinkin i shouldnt say how much i paid ... incase i rub others the wrong way .. hehe
  12. not sellin actually .... im gettin one in HK, just wondering if theres a price differential between the ones in UK and HK. The jap ones in HK (fibreglass) .. with the factory lookin foglight cutout can get quite steep ... especially with a set of decent foglights in (not the tw ones that melt the fitting after long use!).
  13. Just wondering, how do the prices look for the 99 Altezza bumper (the one with the carbon middle piece and aggressive teeth/integrated fog lights on both sides) in the UK? Fibreglass ....
  14. Anyone know if its possible to fake the alarm system into not enabling itself when lockin the doors? I tried every combo possible from lockin the doors from the back seats/ locking using the indiv locks etc etc. .... in all tries, the alarm still seems to activate itself no matter wat (constant red LED on the dash for a while, before flashing again). I sometimes dont drive my IS200 for a week or 2 .... and it just kills my battery. Although it may be good idea to consid changin it cos of its age, I wanna get the most out of it first ... hehe. These things are just gettin too smart! Bernard
  15. thanx for the post .... yeah I've seen this page, but I was abit skeptical about the numbers and if these numbers reflect that which are posted in the manuals given with the cars (if theres such a thing). 16K kms (10K miles) or 1yr for oil change? .... that sounds a bit long ... also any ideas what this means? --------------------- Full 20,000 miles/2yrs* Intermediate 10,000 miles/1yr* Full 60,000 miles/6yrs* Intermediate 50,000 miles/5yrs* Full 40,000 miles/4yrs* Intermediate 30,000 miles/3yrs* --------------------- they just mixed up the order rite? ... the interval is supposed to be 10K, 20K, 30K .... alternating between intermediate and full ...? Bernard
  16. Hi All, I recently bought a second hand IS200 in HK. However, it only came with a user manual and a chinese version (which i dont understand) of the lexus maintenance guide which says next to nothing. I'm lookin for an IS200 maintenance schedule (ie stuff that are up for changes/inspections etc .. @ how many kms etc). Does anyone have such a doc (e-version)? if i had such a thing, then i can go to local mechanics .... and wont need to go to the dealer to do maintenance (which is EXTREMELY expensive .. in hk). Thanks. Bernard
