  1. Rather than write it all again please see my post of January 2008. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...mp;#entry504829
  2. Many thanks for that. I'll leave it a little longer. It was mainly the fact that the email address ( helpdesk@lexusownersclub.com ) doesn't work that I thought was strange. This is what I received back when I emailed it: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: helpdesk@lexusownersclub.com retry timeout exceeded
  3. Gold Membership Advise please. I joined Lexus Gold Membership a couple of days ago and I haven’t as yet received the authorisation to enter the Members areas. I know it says this can take up to 24hrs so I emailed them as the page says if I haven’t heard anything and the email just bounces back to me. Does anyone know anyone I can contact other than helpdesk@lexusownersclub.com. Which doesn’t work. Thanks Graham
  4. I’m 56 but like most people of our age I don’t feel it. I feel it’s sad that the Lexus has got the reputation of an old man’s car, you get it on a twisty open Devon “A” road late at night and it certainly doesn’t feel like one, especially if put into sports mode.
  5. I hope a previous thread of mine helps here. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=47786
  6. Here we DJ Wozza taken from the tyre. The fronts are 225/45 ZR17 94y The rears are 245/45 ZR17 99y Tango. My dealer thought about the Proxes 4 but you can't get the rear 245's in them, hence the T1-R's From Toyo's website these are the sizes available. Proxes 4 Sizes (available later in 2007) Size 235/35ZR19 91Y 215/35ZR19 85W 205/40ZR18 86W 215/40ZR18 89W 225/40ZR18 92W 225/45ZR18 95W 195/40ZR17 91W 215/40ZR17 87W 205/45ZR17 88W 215/45ZR17 91W 225/45ZR17 94W 195/40 R16 80V 205/40 R16 83W 215/40ZR16 86W 195/45ZR15 78V
  7. I have had the Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres on my IS 250SE-L for the last two years and have just changed them all to Toyo T1-R’s after reading various reports on them and seeing that Lexus use them now as original equipment tyres. The first thing that my wife and I noticed was that they are much quieter than the Dunlops, we estimate at least 25% less road/tyre noise coming into the cabin from the Toyos. At first we both had mixed thoughts whether it improved the handling or not but after a couple of hundred miles to “bed in” and a late night trip back from friends on some A roads (non dual carriageway) I am now convinced that they are better. To be honest even if the handling had not improved it would still have been a good change as the car is so much quieter. I just wonder how quick they will wear now, better or worse than the Dunlops. Also at £414 fitted & balanced from my local tyre dealer they were a lot cheaper. I hope this is of help to anyone thinking of replacing their tyres.
  8. I’ve had mine over two years now and I’m still very happy with it. I was going to wait for the diesel to be introduced when I was considering getting an IS250 in November 2005 but there wasn’t going to be an auto so I decided against it. How glad I am after having a diesel courtesy car once, it’s just not the same vehicle. I eventually left it in the drive and drove my second vehicle instead it was so awful. So yes, I am being positive about mine still, its great, and I’m also one of the lucky ones never to have any rattles either.
  9. Two weeks ago I changed from my old 1923 Devon issued plate to one that was more Lexus related. I purchased it though a private firm not DVLA and they handled everything, including arranging to keep my old number on retention. It was all handled seamlessly and was a painless experience. Look around as several firms had the number I wanted at various prices. Defiantly haggle on the price as they all seem to drop when asked, competing against each other I guess. I hope this helps.
  10. I have one of the first IS250 MM Auto’s taking deliveries of it in December 2005. I have had no problems what so ever with it, not even any one the dreaded rattles. Like someone said previously I have had a diesel version as a courtesy car a couple of times and it’s just not the same vehicle, very harsh and underpowered compared with the petrol, and of course it doesn’t have that beautifully smooth auto box either. I am also impressed with the fuel consumption for a petrol version usually averaging about 38-40mpg on A roads in Devon & Cornwall. My only minor gripe is that if you have the sound turned up to a reasonable level on the MM system it doesn’t cut it out to hear the Sat Nav clearly. It just cuts one speaker and outputs the speech through that. As I say a minor problem. Basically I love it.
  11. In a red Is 250 stuck in a loooong jam travelling on the A30 in Cornwall East bound on Friday June 1st approx 2.15pm. We both waved as we were almost stationary as well in the opposite carriageway. Also a black IS250 in the same jam as you approx half a mile behind you.
  12. Problem solved Come and live in Ireland No TMC no problem :winky: I'll record some, email them to you and you can play them back while you are driving along and pretend they are real. Seriously. I feel for you as they seem to work well in the SW of UK. I'm not too sure when you get nearer the busy parts, London etc... too much going on to re-route easily I guess up there.
  13. Have you tried experimenting with the left/right balance of the audio system? Without wanting to be too personal, have you checked that your own hearing is OK? It’s not too personal to ask about hearing but I do have extremely good hearing although I’m not a youngster. It is good in both volumes that I can hear sounds and also frequencies of sound, I also don’t have “islands of hearing” where some frequencies are blocked. I worked in the audiology field for 27yrs so I have self tested myself more times than I can count. I just like my music at a reasonable level (not enough to damage my hearing of course) and why not with a great system like this. I know that the Sat Nav volume does “kick up a gear” above 50mph but on the roads I use a lot in the West County you are often under that speed. I personally wish there was an option to cut out the radio/cd completely as in my previous car but I realize that some people would not like this. The option would be nice though, for me anyway.
  14. I travel the same length of road quite often so I don’t need to use the Sat Nav, I usually do though so that I can receive any TMC announcements. My question, does anyone know if the Sat Nav direction voice can be turned down but the TMC will still be heard if an incident occurs. I know that with the RDS traffic announcements via the radio the radio/cd can be turned on with the volume down to zero and the announcements will still come through, anyone know if this happens with TMC? I’m loath to just turn the volume down and test it just in case it doesn’t work and I miss an announcement.
  15. As much as I love my IS this is the one BIG moan I have had against the car since I bought it. Started moaning about it in Jan. 2006 and still not solved. See previous thread. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...c=29485&hl=
