  1. Break for bits or offer to another Lexus owner who may wish to break for bits, must be worth far more for spare parts!! There must be other GS3000's off the road at scrapyards able to provide the required parts to fix, is this really not an option? Good luck
  2. I have had one twice whilst my GS was in for servicing and repair. I hated it for so many reasons and would never touch one. A shame as I believe all other Lexus cars are fantastic. It was slow, noisy, if you tried driving normally it's very uneconomical, rattle, handled poorly and was physically small making me very uncomfortable. After the 2nd one was given to me a always made a point of advising the service I would not drive a CT. Regards
  3. Lexus should hold their head in shame. Not that the part failed, as we all know how fantastically well their cars are designed and built but at the diagnosis and quoted repair charge of the dealer. I have had 2 GS450H's which I loved and i am about to buy my third having been without one for the last 10 months. I am having to buy an older one with higher mileage and no warranty so a bit more risk. Congratulations on your repair and I hope you do something fantastic with the £3200 you have saved.
  4. On your car i would suggest its worth paying up to £750. Just my tuppence worth with no industry experience but also know from previous threads you are a real GS fan so its likely to suit your car for many years.
  5. Hi I have a 2 owner 2009/09 GS450H which has what i think is the best colour combination - velvet black, grey leather with the dark grey wood trim. It has the full mark levinson system, 4 nearly new premium tyres, FLSH, long tax/MOT, no dents/damage/repairs, 33500 miles and is faultless. If you see my first threads you will see i had purchased a 450H from a main dealer but returned it after 6 months due to some rattles that could not be resolved. I spent a long time sourcing a replacement as i am so fussy. The amount of poor cars out there is shocking and this was the best i could find. I have only owned it for 8000 miles and 6 months but have found a house i wish to purchase and need the funds for the deposit. I am going to have to buy a cheap car for the next 6 to 12 months after which time i will be buying another GS450H as its by far the best car i have ever owned. I would appreciate knowing what you guys think i should ask for it please. Regards Brian
  6. Hi Is there a way of changing the DVD player to always display a picture? Obviously not for me to watch whilst driving but for my passengers. Thanks Brian
  7. Hi Tony Can i ask when the plan was purchased as i need to purchase one and would like a guage on costs. Interesting point RE using tiptronic to slow down the car and charge the batterys. Regards Brian
  8. Thanks Wendle and Tony, I cant believe you managed to get 135,000 miles out of the brake discs - amazing. Mine has 33000 miles and a lot of my driving is on the motorway but I average 29 to 30 combined. Out of interest how much do you pay for the service plan? Thanks Brian
  9. Hi All I am really interested to hear what mileage you currently have (or had) on your GS450H. I would also appreciate any insights into costs of things like disks, pads, major srvice (plugs etc). I am loving mine but the mileage is creeping up hence my questions. Cheers Brian
  10. surely Lexus would be prepared to get involved and cover at least some if not all of the cost? This is a serious safety issue and as a recent owner of a low mileage gs450h i am very dissapointed that something of this nature should fail so early. I would have thought that for locks to be "fit for purpose" they should last 10 years if not for the life of the vehicle. I appreciate the electronic element could fail earlier but surely you should still maintain manual operation for safety reasons alone. Good Luck
  11. Hi I am trying to find out if i can fit the following wheel sizes to my car. It is on stock suspension and i am not planning to change this. 245 35 20 front and rear I know i should be using 245 30 20 to maintain the rolling circumference/radius but i want to preserve the ride quality. Any helpful information woul;d be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  13. Hi My GS450H is about to reach 3 years old and i am keen to get this potential problem resolved asap. My previous GS450H did not have this problem. The steering feels notchy which is most noticeable at lower speeds And during the first 3 to 5 inches travel left or right. It feels as if the resistance is pulsing on and off. Its difficult to fully explain but i hope my description makes sense. Lexus advise me its just a normal characteristic but my previous car did not have this issue. Many Thanks
  14. Hi All Thanks to everyone who has replied, all of the info has been usefull. I have checked if my car required the valve spring re-call and it did not. Thanks Again
