I Want To Buy A 2014 Ct200H And Need To Know How Bad It Is
bubba1 replied to goferdave's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I have had one twice whilst my GS was in for servicing and repair. I hated it for so many reasons and would never touch one. A shame as I believe all other Lexus cars are fantastic. It was slow, noisy, if you tried driving normally it's very uneconomical, rattle, handled poorly and was physically small making me very uncomfortable. After the 2nd one was given to me a always made a point of advising the service I would not drive a CT. Regards -
Lexus should hold their head in shame. Not that the part failed, as we all know how fantastically well their cars are designed and built but at the diagnosis and quoted repair charge of the dealer. I have had 2 GS450H's which I loved and i am about to buy my third having been without one for the last 10 months. I am having to buy an older one with higher mileage and no warranty so a bit more risk. Congratulations on your repair and I hope you do something fantastic with the £3200 you have saved.

Hi I have a 2 owner 2009/09 GS450H which has what i think is the best colour combination - velvet black, grey leather with the dark grey wood trim. It has the full mark levinson system, 4 nearly new premium tyres, FLSH, long tax/MOT, no dents/damage/repairs, 33500 miles and is faultless. If you see my first threads you will see i had purchased a 450H from a main dealer but returned it after 6 months due to some rattles that could not be resolved. I spent a long time sourcing a replacement as i am so fussy. The amount of poor cars out there is shocking and this was the best i could find. I have only owned it for 8000 miles and 6 months but have found a house i wish to purchase and need the funds for the deposit. I am going to have to buy a cheap car for the next 6 to 12 months after which time i will be buying another GS450H as its by far the best car i have ever owned. I would appreciate knowing what you guys think i should ask for it please. Regards Brian

surely Lexus would be prepared to get involved and cover at least some if not all of the cost? This is a serious safety issue and as a recent owner of a low mileage gs450h i am very dissapointed that something of this nature should fail so early. I would have thought that for locks to be "fit for purpose" they should last 10 years if not for the life of the vehicle. I appreciate the electronic element could fail earlier but surely you should still maintain manual operation for safety reasons alone. Good Luck

Hi I am trying to find out if i can fit the following wheel sizes to my car. It is on stock suspension and i am not planning to change this. 245 35 20 front and rear I know i should be using 245 30 20 to maintain the rolling circumference/radius but i want to preserve the ride quality. Any helpful information woul;d be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi My GS450H is about to reach 3 years old and i am keen to get this potential problem resolved asap. My previous GS450H did not have this problem. The steering feels notchy which is most noticeable at lower speeds And during the first 3 to 5 inches travel left or right. It feels as if the resistance is pulsing on and off. Its difficult to fully explain but i hope my description makes sense. Lexus advise me its just a normal characteristic but my previous car did not have this issue. Many Thanks

Hi Tom Thanks for the info, will def get the rattle checked out at the dealer's. It does not sound as loud as the IS220D but i am sure its too loud for a low mileage V6 petrol engine. Out of interest what do you average MPG from your car? I ask as i drive arround London and the M25 and am curious. Lots of owners seem tonreport 36mpg averages but the best i can get driving conservative ly is 31mpg. Cheers Brian

Hi Just purchased mine and collected this week so getting to know the car. My battery indicator on the sat nav screen never shows more than 3/4 full. There are 2 bars that never light up even after a long motorway journey tonight at a fairly sedate 65 mph. I wanted to see how far i could drive on a full battery charge today. On a flat road doing just under 30 mph i managed just under 1/2 mile before the battery was down to its minimum and the engine kicked in. Does the above sound normal please?? My engine sounds like a diesel when it starts and ticks over, it does not get quieter when it warms up, is this a normal characteristic of this engine? Many Thanks Everyone

Hi All I am hoping someone can help. Having come close to purchasing another Mercedes E320 CDi or BMW 535 D i decided to have a look at a Lexus GS. Once i had driven it i ended my E class/5 series search. What a fantastic car, other than the drive it was the quality of the interior that sold me the car. I have purchased a 450h sport on a 08 plate in black (although looks blue) with 47000 miles from a main dealer - great service so far. My glovebox rattles constantly and only stops if i leave it open or push on it against the dashboard - -any suggestions please? The drivers seat squeeks with every movement and i can clearly hear its the leather against the plastic - any suggestions please? Any general hints and tips RE this car would be greatly appreciated. thanks
