Regular driving in dark again, reminds me how low my headlamps are set. My '96 LS has the adjusting knob on dashboard, but even on top setting, the lamps point into the ground on dip and main is like a normal dip!

What I need to find out - somehow - is how is the beam actually adjusted at the lamp end? Some sort of threaded rod, perhaps, that I can get at? Or a lever arrangement, maybe?

Any suggestions welcome, as I may soon be overtaken by milk floats and bicycles as I crawl along blindly.

BTW, Autocar today was VERY complimentary about the LS as a secondhand buy - flattering, but the article was about the standard of a page from a LadyBird book, I think.

On my '94 Ls the adjusting screws are three on top, one on the side.

They are behind the lens in the plastic surround nearest to the glass.

Might be worth a look......

Thanks, guys, for the tips. It turned out to be a good example of the "It's easy when you know how" variety.

At the rear of the headlights, there is a white, plastic adjuster (8mm spanner or socket) which goes into the little servo motor which raises/lowers the lamps. You can just get at the battery-side one, but the other necessitates removing the air cleaner.

Job done, and now I can stop holding up everyone at night.
