Ignition Barrell

First post, I can't find anything on the forum about this. I have an IS200 manual only done 25,000 miles, 6 years old, bought 3 months ago. A friend moved my car at work, don't know whether any fault of his, but the lock is now stuck in the ACC position with the key out. It is totally locked. Been towed today by RAC to Lexus, awaiting phone call/diagnosis from Lexus?

Any thoughts/experience of similar much appreciated. Anyone knwo cost of new barrell + fitting?

you have 2 options: the easiest and cheapest is to get a new barrel cut for your existing key THIS CAN BE DONE- the dealer might not be aware of this it takes about 2 weeks tho.

OTHER option which they might suggest is a new lock kit, it is about £160 for the kit and it will replace ALL the locks and keys you currently have, but the labour charges will be high.

to change the ignition barrel takes about 30 mins at the MOST!!

ps its not his fault it just happens and is well known - get the barrel replaced ASAP because once it starts to lock up it will do it in the future.

Brilliant quick response, at least I am not alone!! Bit of a shame it is not an uncommon problem, expected a bit more from Lexus build quality, my old Toyota Mr2 never had any problems. I think I am in the hands of the Lexus dealer, oh dear!!!!
