Automatic, Too Much Reving.. Normal Or Not

Hello,

I have just a bought a lexus for myself 2001 model. This is a auto and i have always driven a manual, so maybe i am finding a bit different.

When the start driving the engine revs alot before it changes the gear. If i go in a slow steady speed its just stay in that gear for a while before changing. If i floor it it changes instantly to a different gear.

Is this normal?

Also when i take my foot off the padel, it seems to start from a lower gear. Is this all normal??

I have always driven an auto,and yes,it's normal.
