Which Engine Oil Should I Use For My 1990 Lexus Ls400?

Recommended Posts

Im going to change the engine oil for my dad's car, which oil should I use, 5W-30 or 10W-30? He told me he has been using the 10W-30, which has been working fine for awhile with no car problems. The 5W-30 is recommended by the lexus owners manual. Amazingly this car has 230,XXX miles without a single problem. So pretty much I just want to see anyones expert opinion.

hello, hey 5w-30 its for all newer cars with very low mileage, less then 50 to 70 thousand miles, but for high mileage you have to use 10w-40 oil, that's what i would use,, go to your auto parts store and ask them for very high mileage oil for your vehicle. don't forget you must do your full tune up ...like oil change, oil filter and new oil. i think its about time for a few things to be replace.. for that high mileage like fuel filter, spark plug and wires, pcv valve, air filter, its time for transmission oil and filter change,, well this is just an advice so that your vehicle lasts longer , its called maintenance.. look in your maintenance manual .. good luck..
