Auto Headlights

My lexus has auto headlights, and when they are switched to auto in the day they stay of and if i go under a tunnel they turn on the back of again. But when im night time driving they come on automaticly but when i switch the igintion of the y still stay on is that the norm or is there something im doing wrong?

And when you open the drivers door then they switch off. Right?

That's what mine are doing and its a little annoying.

I would prefer to switch off automaticaly when i turn off the engine.

no because that little button on the door is very on and of dont always work how do i sort that lol

Yeah should switch off when you open the door, maybe your door switch is faulty? Does the interior light above your head come on when you open the door?

The headlight relay could also be at fault?

no i think that switch is faulty after playing with it, if its pushed to one side the interior light comes on so does the one on the door. I have took it of and checked the earth is there anyother that can be done to it?
