250 Recommended Services

Hi to all, first post of what I think will be many over the next few years. I've decided on purchasing a Lexus IS250SE or SE-L to perform the motorway miles in running my son and daughter back and for to Uni over the next few years. My budget only stretches to a 2006/7 and so am looking a various cars with mileages ranging from 50K to 120K.

A question that I can't seem to find the answer to however is if there are any particularly large servicing costs at a particular mileage (50K, 60K, 90K etc)? I know it uses timing chains not belts, but how about water pumps etc?

I'll probably sign up for 2 years Lexus Essential service plan which gives a major and minor service over 2 years, but I am assuming this would not cover the "extra" recommended items and it is these I am looking for. I don't want to purchase a car only for Lexus to suddenly recommend a £500+ service in a couple of miles!

The 60K service is a major service that would cost around £400 - £500 normally although lexus croydon quoted me a outrageous £780 for the 60K service and I was quoted £220 for the 70K service (minor) by Lexus Guildford. Probably you'd find them cheaper if you shop around at other local dealers.
