Is250 Oil Dispstick Question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

How much oil is between the "Low" and "High" marks? I can't find the info in the owner's manual.

I'd like to measure the oil consumption of my engine over 1000 miles.

Thanks!

Just incase you have not read my recent thread on this topic, Lexus say it is acceptable to use up to 1 lt every 1200 miles.

My car uses around 0.60 lt in that period so is apparently well within spec although I personally feel this is a lot.

I'm going to try a 5w-40oil next oil change rather than the recommended 5w-30 to see if this helps reduce the consumption.

Hi Carl,

yes I did see your thread and read the posts but I didn't want to hi-jack it :)

My engine also burns some oil but I couldn't estimate how much since I didn't know how much oil is between the low and high marks on the dipstick.

Can you confirm that it's indeed 1 Litre?

Thanks

I have no idea if the min to max is exactly 1lt but mine was definately around the half way mark after losing 0.6 litres so that would sound a pretty close estimation to me.

Someone else may be able to confirm.
