  1. If you have a decent trolley jack then you can do it yourself. If you only have the jack that comes with the car then don't attempt it.

If you do have a decent jack it is purely a matter of undoing 2 bolts and removing the exhaust from the hangers (bit of fairy liquid usually helps the rubbers to slide) then slipping the new one on and doing up.

Incidently - where in the world are you?

  2. Anyone know if securely mounted camcorders are allowed in the car?

I'm sure Zee was allowed last year.

Gutted I'm too late for this now. John PM'd me but the Mrs fannied about so bloody much I couldn't get back in time.

If I decide to come what are the chances of getting on the club stand?

Are the tickets the same but with a stand ref written on or are the stand passes different? I can't remember from last year.

  3. The IS300 is a 3 litre. It is different to the IS200 unit, i.e. not just a bigger bore. The IS200 unit is a fairly old design which doesn't really push the boundaries - hence it is so reliable.

Mr Morse is currently tinkering with his IS300 - might be worth having a word.

The 300 is an auto however and produces 212bhp (or around that mark) as standard. They are more expensive though, think you'll still pay £15k plus for one.

Best people to speak to are TDI or Prolex - they are the experts.

  4. Suspension is done - easy job really Matt's guide was a help :D

Took about 4 hours in all - wouldv'e been a lot less if i didn't have to have the nearside strut off twice because i was a numpty and but the spring on upside down . The offside strut and spring were just a ball ache from start to finish, spring clamps put on in the wrong place, then too high, so it was in and out like a ***** in a brothel The rears were actually more difficult than the fronts yet they took less time - weird

The car is definately lower, the springs need to settle though so it isn't as low as it will get when they have worn in a bit. Not quite the drop i was hoping for from the start but as said, it should improve. Handling is definately a lot better, she sticks like the poop to a blanket in the bends now

After (still needs to settle though)

From the pics the ride height doesn't look any different at all - I keep telling myself it's going to settle. The handling is a massive improvement though - which is what it's all about :D

  5. PMSL - velly solly sir vee cannot understand a bloody vord you zay. !! :winky:

I hate call centres with a passion - clueless muppets with no personalities following a set of strict rules. Even worse now they've moved to cheap labour continents like India.

    Sorry Mike :offtopic:

  6. do you have some awesome camera or was that just with a normal one?

Cheers mate - Camera is a Canon 300D using a 75-300mm lense with Aperture Priority.

I think I recognise this fella - is it one of your Boro Boys Mark

The car really does look ace in matte!

Where was this at then pal?

You're gonna have to teach me how to take ace pics like these so I can go into a new trade

Yeah, thats Matt's S13, looks good doesn't it - almost stealth like, weird when you see it at night as no light reflects off of the matt bodywork, weird.

Was at the D1GB 4th Round at Silverstone on the 20th August. Was a top day out (if you like drifting)

The final is on the 3rd September at Silverstone.

As for the pics - I'm no expert but know enough to get by. Give me a shout anytime fella :)

  7. Nice one, how much do these cost nowadays? I've been thinking about lowering recently too - does the 30mm drop hit insurance much?

And as the others said, post up some pics when its done! :D

Got them from eGhey for £130 inc shipping - think they retail at £180 normally?

They are brand spanking too :D

  8. What do you want to do with the car?

Cheap tyres are cheap for a reason - and one day will bite you hard when you least expect it.

£50 tyres are going to be bobbins mate - go for some toyo proxies, I can recommend the Continental ContiSport II's - they grip they don't wear too hard - they will last and you wont end up up-side-down in a ditch.

You will get what you pay for ultimately - expect to replace them after a few thousand miles.

Oh and if you're looking for centre caps for 18" TTE's and you got them from eBay there was a thread on here about them and they looked a bit dodge - have they turned up yet? I could be wrong mind.

Seriously though fella - don't skimp on tyres, you've got a Lexus, not a 1 litre F Reg fiesta. What is the speed rating on the cheapo's you're looking at?

Sorry if I seem like I'm ranting fella - just trying to help you out here. :winky:

  9. Cheers Am - will have a look when I get the springs on and see what it all looks like - prolly have to dodge the RICERS at Halfords and get some to improve the stance as you say - i reckon it will look ghey otherwise.

Mike - cheers for the 5mm tip. If I need to go any more I'll get longer studs.
