  1. Hope you get it sorted but thats a dam cheap car for a P in my opinion...
  2. Thats brill, thanks for your reply. I am going with the first one you have suggested and it all seems good thank you, my shipping agent also knows them and he also recomends them. Quick question off topic: JZS161 - Are they all Twin turbos with this chassis? I assume most Aristo V300 turbos in Japan dont have leather? Thanks again
  3. Thanks for that, I did check japanusedcars.com but the details are really bad but will look at it again now that you have suggested it, the other one looks good also and will get registered - You know anyone whos used these people? Cheers again
  4. Hmm May not be the head gasket, compression test is the way to go. Hope its not and rather a bad hose or matrix. Regards LL
  5. Hi all, I am looking for a reliable importer to stick a Jap import on a ship and source me the right car. There are loads of companys out there but I need a trustworthy one and its dam hard without any recomendations, I have read and read till my eyes have bled and learnt a lot in 3 days of hardcore reading but it boild down to finding that right honest company as once the cars on ship you pay the full whack and the grading does not reflect the engine condition. I would really love to hear of any good ones and can anyone vouch for any of the below, so far I have. http://www.globiz-motors.com IBC Japan - Hear a few bad stories about them MEHRAN AUTOREC Nikkyo Co. Ltd Thanks in advance
  6. Cheer up mate, think of it this way, its a roof and not somewhere in constant sight, would have been worse if it was a wing or bonnet...Its the roof and you will hardly have to look at the repair job... Why dont you go and stake out the area, sounds like they are doing this for kicks regularly..Either take a video camera or a bat ! Blooming scallys...Hope you get it all sorted mate and think that it could have been worse...Dont tell insurance if your paying for it..
  7. OMG I cant beleive im reading this, rattles from a Lex hmmm but what you have to remember is that the desighns very new so theres bound to be a few quirks here and there and all minor, as the years go by the little niggles will be eliminated, its minor compared to the other marques out there with major components failing and Techies who cant figure out what the problem is on a brand new car (Ahem German comes to mind) lol...I think we should be gratefull we only have a creaky dash to moan about here on the Lexus forum :-) and I know it's annoying as hell and shouldnt happen on a new car, I have an old Pristine Mk1 and I dont have any creaks the build quality is rock solid and if I could ever afford a new one I would buy it without thinking twice and its the only car I would consider buying brand new ! I think the quality is still up there just some niggles, still a bit sad though :-( At least Customer Services rolled out the carpet to those that did have problems... By the way anyone know where I can hire one for a wedding in the Midlands, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry ?
  8. Hey they look really nice, how about a pic from the rear ?? I see you got the best colour same as mine, looks really special at night after a bit of autoglym..
  9. Hi all looooong time ! Thanks for sharing that with us mate im sure it will be usefull to a few, I suppose I would have tried it having the MK1 myself and specially if I was not intending on getting it charged anyway, cant loose really if things go wrong then theres always claimsdirect lol Makes me wonder if the "expert" is the one that broke it as he must have put a lot of the pressure on the seals, blooming next day I was dying for the A/C on the motorway as it was boiling ! A little embaressing really considering my Civic Vti was pumping out freezing cold air ! Having said that though I got mine recharged by a specialist for £50 and he actually put a little too much in and it kept stalling the compressor so he took some out again (gas expands in the heat remember that guys so if your going to diy put a lot less in then you would have) anyway after all that it was leaking you could hear tssssssssssssing along, I can take it back as the dye he put in will show where the leak is and a free re-charge but may just fix it myself after he diagnoses it cant be more then a seal.
  10. Glad to hear you finally reached a happy medium. Did you keep lowering springs on cos standard 16" rims may not look so bad in the huge wheel arches. ← Got the factory standard set up no springs, I prefer the smoothness....Got a buyer already for them, a fellow Mk1 owner...
  11. Right just a quicky, standard rims back on NOW it feels like a Lexus and they dont look too bad either for some reason, bugger it ive put my alloys up for sale in usual place a few quid lost a lesson learnt...Im happy now anyway just thanks again to everyone that contributed to this post !!!
  12. @ EMJAY Mine does the same mate specially in certain slots, I always find taking the tray out and putting the CD's back in helps, check for moisture there too.
  13. Must admit the Sport wheels are soooo perfect for the Mk1's and it completely transforms the look of the car, they look brilliant but dam hard to find un-buckled.
  14. Many thanks for the advice Colin 235/45's it is, yes did some reading on the Yoko DB's I will have to do with what I can get preferably Pirellis... Muchos gracious !!!
  15. Hi, Just rang my mate who had the rubbery stuff on his car, he said he used a hairdryer and a heat gun, some tools like a scraper got it all gooey and removed it that way, took some time he says. Be a little carefull with the heat gun though mate but the hairdryer will be fine just be patient. As Colin says you may need some chemicals to get the remaining bits off and AUTOGLYM tar remover may get the small bits of at the end combined with some elbow grease but in your case you may need something stronger worth a try if you got some lying around or pop into a bodyshop and ask them. Hope you get it sorted....
  16. Well spotted Colin, Just checked around the net and it seems they are run flats hence the "RFT" so "JNK" marking would mean junk which is about right, no wonder the rides so harsh with that tyre wall being as hard as steel, and your were also correct about them being fitted to the likes of s2000's and Ferraris/Z4s as standard. In light of that may just try some other tyres.. What size would you suggest then with the biggest tyre wall possible for optimum ride comfort, obviously will get the geometry sorted out afterwards ?
  17. Your right about the sidewall Colin and thats the main reason why the fitter struggled to pull the tyre over the rim causing the damage. So 45 is the largest wall I can put on the 17's ? Hmmm I may just take them off in that case and look for some later Gs rims I really dont want to go that low profile. I know the GS300 Sport MK1 standard sizes are Front = 245/40/18 8.5j wide Rear = 275/35/18 10j wide The wider tyre must absorb the road a bit more and make up for the reduced tyre wall. Anyone want a set of Wheels lol...hmm ebay.. Just want to thank everyone for their input....
  18. OUCH ! I was waiting in Asda and this guy reversed into a brand new Merc next to me, looked back and drove off as I jumped out the car to examine the damage, was only minor but still visible...Could have been my car so as soon as the owner came I gave him the details of the offending vehicle he was well pi$$ed as he only got the car a few days ago.. If its the same black stuff they stick bodykits on with its a bit of a mission mate but try a hairdryer and a scraper if not I will ask my mate how he got his off in the end. I wouldnt take it to main dealer personally im sure there are some good bodyshops around.
  19. Thanks Colin, I did quite a few searches on here and quite a few posts came up stating offsets are the same ??? I have checked the Bridgestones they are "RE050" (RFT JNK3403) ??? Thats just great after all that I have the wrong wheels, if thats the case im going to take them off get the damage repaired the Tyre man did and sell them..I give up now, maybe spray the old Mk1 wheels and stick them back on but I may be able to get a hold of some RX300 Alloys (225.60.R17) would they fit correctly ? I used the table below along with the search here to determine compatibility before I purchased them Can anyone confirm before I take them off please ? and would the RX ones 225/60/17 be compatible ?
  20. Amazing the effects on ride quality a tyre has, learnt a lesson here me...GSSPORT I think your speedo would only be affected by 1 or 2% if im not wrong....Vectra lol you poor thing now thats a comparison...
  21. I checked the offsets and they were within the range unless someone can tell me otherwise ? Im still going for the bigger tyre wall, ive seen some BMW's with 65/70 even
  22. WHAT !!!! The car ive been drooling over all week doesnt have a boot light ??? ok I can accept it may be an option on the Mercs/BM'S lol but the Lex and no boot light hmmm...did some googling out of curiousity but couldnt find anything..Id still buy one and its the only car I would buy brand new...
  23. Hi guys, Just thought id post my opinion after fitting some 17's met grey spoke type from an IS200 on my standard MK1 GS300, its seriously reduced the ride quality. Did a bit of research before and took into consideration the GS300 sport sizes and chose the below tyres for my great white... All Bridgestone Potenzas RE050: FRONT: 225/50/17 REAR: 245/45/17 30 psi all round no way am I putting any more pressure in there THE DISASTER: For starters my near mint alloys got scratched up quite badly by the fitter who was a friend (was lol) although he promises to refurbish the 2 he damaged which is fine but I cant be bothered with taking them off and him sending them off to repair. Any idea how this felt after spending ages the night before putting a coat of Meguirs on them lovingly :-( THE RIDE: Who lowered my dam car ??? well thats exactly what the ride is like now bumpy and I can feel the bumps in my steering, the soft magic cloud ride has dissapeared, I sometimes have to fight the steering to keep it straight depending on road surface. THE HANDLING: Dramatic improvement on the handling simply amazing over the stock 16's 225/55/16 BUT in my opinion NOT worth the sacrifice, I didnt buy a Lex to go round corners like a Pug 205 ! Jumps a bit at high speed mind you if going over a bump. THE VERDICT: Keep your standard wheels or keep a high tyre wall at least 55 maybe even 60 ?? BUT if its handling your after you will be grinning.. WHAT NOW: Well im going to go back and get some 225/55 or 60/17 to improve ride quality, maybe even 245/55/17 anything with a bigger tyre wall ! I dont really care about the handling as long as its safe I have screaming VTEC with Toyo's for that which by the way are the best tyres I have ever experienced and been using them for 4 years amazing in the wet. What do you guys think about the larger tyre wall can I go to 60 and not having it rub or be unstable in any way? plenty of space in the arches hmmm maybe a bus tyre lool Hmm I now know why Lexus have such puny wheels as standard.. Opinions greatly appreciated and I hope someone finds this a little usefull
  24. Hey Chips...Your turbo charged monster still going strong I see :-) Been having problems with email mate part of the reason why I had to re-register... Think I might for them wheels look nice on the RX will look even better on the GS hey :-) was just worried about road noise being 18's.. I ended up getting a Mk1 with full lexus history in the end mate...im still on the old email address btw just not that reliable...
