  1. As most of the information I have seen about this states that it involves cars built between October and December 2005 I contacted my dealer (Lexus Exeter) as I picked mine up just before Christmas. They said that they did have information about a recall but after checking my car details against this list that my car was not on it. So it’s obviously not all cars built between those dates as I expect mime was.
  2. I have often thought that the revs are quite high from a cold start but it usually settles after 300-400yds. I havn't noticed any grabbing from the gearbox at all.
  3. To DarrenJbird. Thanks very much I won’t have to curse again when I miss an announcement. To Arkanoid yes you can get local info without setting a destination. In my case it usually covers an area about 50-80miles. To obtain this go to Menu, rds-tmc, all traffic events. There are then lists for Motorways, “A” roads and others
  4. Yes it does work in the IS250 and as Scott says it’s very useful. If you input your destination and then preview the route it will show you roadworks, congestion etc along the route before you even leave and will add new ones if they occur while you are en route. That’s if you can hear it above any music you have playing at the time. I have not found a way to make TMC announcements repeat like you can with the route guidance by pressing the map button. Does anyone know please?
  5. I’m not a gambler except the occasional lottery ticket however I did receive an introductory email worth £50 to use on the then newly opened William Hill site a few years back. I thought what do I have to lose as long as I didn’t go above that £50 that I was given. Anyway, I played blackjack over a period of approximately two months on and off and ended up with £625. I then had a feeling that my luck had run out, cashed it in and have never visited the site since. I was so pleased at winning this for no initial outlay that I even photocopied the cheque, sad or what :)
  6. I thought these links may help you. http://www.pepipoo.com/ http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/index.htm
  7. I thought this may be of interest. As we bought the IS 250 for my wife and she has now driven it over 4000 miles it made us smile. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0...56178_1,00.html
  8. Quote "They have been removed from the vehicle & upgraded to 18"." If these were taken off the vehicle there would be two 225x17 and two 245x17 wouldn't there as the front and rear tyre sizes are different. They are on mine anyway.
  9. Looks like they are being recalled in the states as well. http://www.groundhog.tv/apps/editor/static...uot;><img
  10. More Than. Fully Comp with full bussiness use and we only need up to 10,000miles a year. £203 Both of us now over 50, guess that helps.
  11. I'm sorry Whoosh, if you would rather concentrate on your driving why is your radio so loud that you cannot hear a guidance message? :duh: Because like a lot of people have said on these forums they like music quite loud. I don’t actually play it exceptionally loud it’s just that the system is badly designed (in MY opinion) and doesn’t mute the dvd/cd as I would like it. Everyone is different, music at a reasonable volume does not distract me from driving half as much as listening to a play would, that would probably send me to sleep. Everyone is different. If the Adaptive Volume worked a little better we would both be happy I guess. :winky:
  12. As you can turn the adaptive headlight system (AFS) off could you not do this and treat them as normal headlights if unsure?
  13. On point 1. I have had a number of cars with Sat Nav which cut the radio sound when making an announcement. Having listened to an exciting murder play on the radio and the sound cuts out just as the murderer is being mentioned is really annoying (you know the situation I mean ). Now in my IS250 if I should miss an announcement, all I have to do is turn down the volume and press the Map (voice) button and the last message is repeated. So I and my passengeres never miss an important part of a radio programme and I never miss a navigation instruction. Best of both worlds I think. On point 2. Why doesn't your passenger just use the seat adjustment buttons to alter the seat position? If he/she had memorised a seat position and then not used it, don't blame Lexus. oldun Answer to Point 1 Pressing the map voice button does not repeat with a TMC announcements. I would rather concentrate on my driving and let the system lower the volume rather than have to press buttons to make it repeat. I guess the obvious answer is that it should be a feature that can be selected. Answer to Point 2 Obviously a passenger could use seat adjustment buttons and if he/she had memorised a seat position THEY CANT USE IT WHEN MOVING. That was my point. Ok it should be used when you first get in but if one button has been set in "relax" mode, seat goes back, rake goes back, you cannot just press a button to operate it and return to original position when you want. No great hardship in using adjustments manually I know, it was just a case of WHY.
  14. I picked my IS250 up in December and overall I am extremely pleased with it. Just a couple of minor irritants that could be improved upon. 1) The sat nav does not cut out the radio/dvd when it makes its announcements so you cannot hear it at motorway speeds with music turned up and with such a nice system that is a shame. It cuts the radio/dvd out when the phone rings so why couldn’t they have linked it to the sat nav as well. 2) I guess they say its in the interests of safety but I would like the passenger to be able to program the sat nav, look at the phonebook (not just speed dials) and MP3 folders on the move. Just curious but why isn’t the passenger allowed to use the memory function seat buttons on the move. I can understand it with the driver, but the passenger ??? It’s also a little unfortunate that after a long trip on Wednesday where I broke 4000 miles that the infamous dashboard rattle appears to have started. I’m at this moment waiting for my dealer at Exeter to call me to arrange a fix. Whilst on that subject they have been excellent throughout. So much so that I have written on the dealer section of this forum praising them. As I said all fairly minor. All in all I love the car.
  15. can you tell me what fuel you are using - i was told by the dealer that BP gave you better MPG than Shell!! or is this another fob off!! cheers I’m sorry I have no idea. I filled up in Morrison’s Totnes for the trip up and at Membury services on the M4 on the way back. I have no idea what either of them uses. Come to think of it I just double check that it’s unleaded and not diesel and stick the hose in the hole. Never look at what brand it is, never thought about it until now. Just remembered, I “think” there was a yellow petrol icon on the Sat Nav for the M4 services. So if you know what fuel company is symbolised by yellow, its them. I think it was yellow anyway.
  16. I’ll make this quick as I know this subject is being talked about a lot on here and can become boring but this time it’s the petrol mpg not the diesel. I had to go to London and back yesterday (433 miles round trip) and achieved 39.8mpg. I’m sure if I knocked 5mph off the cruise I would have made 40mpg easily. Only concession I made was that I didn’t use A\C as it wasn’t really required, how much difference this makes I’m not sure. I’m well pleased anyway.
  17. Yes, filled mine in yesterday.. Ready to post now.
  18. Would a reset to default button mean that those unfortunate enough to have had a dashboard rattle and had it fixed by a dealer, would they get it back again?
  19. However, dig a little deeper... The IS200 has 231 and so falls into the higher band (thank goodness mine is a 2000 ;) ) and so does the new IS250! According to the Lexus web site the Automatic IS250 Co2 figure is 214 not 231 as the manual is. Glad I have the auto as its better on fuel consumption as well.
  20. I have investigated this on my car as I found it a useful feature on my previous vehicle. Although it is listed on the American Personalised Settings List it will not work on UK cars. For some very strange and inexplicable reason they have omitted it on ours. I see that you are from Portugal Akkilles so maybe it will work on yours. I expect however, that all of Europe suffers the same fate. We don’t get tyre pressure warnings either where it seems that the US does. They also get 4 years warranty where we only get 3 Moan Moan Moan
  21. Just my own cat. I didn't have any other photos that were under 40k to upload. Bit silly I guess, I'll shrink another photo down when I have time.
  22. Quote "Yeap keep yer eyes pealed Whoosh, got to love the moors for a spot of eerrr...senic inspection." I had to go down to Launceston Hospital last Tuesday. As I didn’t have to rush I decided to go via the scenic route as the weather forecast was “sunny intervals”. It ended up that I couldn’t see more than 20yds most of the way because of fog. Needless to say I came back via Plymouth. High visibility jackets for ponies & cows that’s what I say :)
  23. I had better keep my eyes open for you if you are out “testing”. I’m not too far from Plymouth and well within your testing area I guess. -:) Enjoy, and welcome to the Forums
  24. I also went to Cornwall for the weekend (Only from Devon 200mile round trip) I only got 37.9mpg though. I must have a heavier right foot than Javeeds. I was still pleased was 37.9mpg though.
