  1. Many thanks lexie, it was in Menu/setup and on the 3rd page Auto Voice Guidance 0n/off. I don’t remember going into that menu recently but I guess I must have done. Thanks again. I will still buy the flowers though as she is lovely. -:)
  2. I think that is the VSC cutting in (although I think it has another name on the diesel). The VSC on mine beeps when operating when I tested it on grass to see how good it is.
  3. Has anyone come across this and maybe knows a quick fix for it. The Sat Nav has stopped talking to me (how did I upset her?). The map display is working fine and if I press Map/Voice (repeat) it works fine, she talks. I have checked the obvious like the volume settings and the adaptive volume is also on but still nothing. Any ideas? It is due for a service in a couple of weeks so I’ll get Lexus to look at it but it would be nice if there was a quick fix to save me pressing Map/voice all the time.
  4. I tend to agree IanCornwall that living in the back of beyond has its benefits. I have just paid £272 for my IS 250 Se-L inc. protected no claims for life, legal and business cover for my wife and I (both over 50) with Morethan. I did try a lot of other companies, some were close but as I have had excellent service from Morethan after my wife had had argument with one of our granite walls in a lane near us I decided to stay with them. I wince when I see quotes on here like Scarfaces at £789. I don’t even pay £500 for both my cars combined and the other one is a 4x4 as the roads out of my village do flood a fair bit and I need it to get out. As stated I’m glad I live in the back of beyond. BTW IanCornwall I’ll be in your area tomorrow. I’ve got a day spare so I’m hoping to get to Cotehele House before it closes for the winter. I’ve got my passport out to cross the Tamar.
  5. The lights can be programmed for sensitivity I had mine done because they weren’t coming on early enough in my opinion. I dont think they can be programmed to come on with the ignition though. As for the phone if your phone is Bluetooth compatible and links in with the MM system you can set up to 10 numbers (from memory) to be voice activated. When this is done just push the speech button and say “dial by name”
  6. Or to double lock it (I assume they mean dead lock) press the black door button twice within 2.5 seconds or press the lock button twice within 5 seconds on the remote. I have also found that if you hold the button for 3 seconds on the remote the car beeps , (also closes the windows if open) I assume that also dead locks it but cannot find anything about it in the handbook.
  7. Thanks for your help. I'll look into it.
  8. Can anyone recommend a good leather seat restorer / cleaner? I have looked on the Car Care section where they give advice on how to do it but not what to use. I would like one the feeds the leather and as well as cleans it apparently from what I have read. Thanks
  9. Just to backup koshime I use the Sony K750i and it is faultless. My wife uses the same phone as well and if she forgets to change the settings to her phone on the MM it will connect to mine sitting in the kithcen as she reverses out of the garage until she gets about 30yds away. Its very good.
  10. I do remember that mine took an age to warm up compared to my other car in the winter. I guess the climate doesn’t start blowing the air out until it reaches a certain temperature otherwise it would be making matters worse, blowing cold air. I do remember others complaining about the same thing that’s why I didn’t bother getting mind checked.
  11. 55 the oldest so far. At 23 I was driving a Lotus Elan +2, wish I still had it. As a second car of course.
  12. Must be my right foot then 'cos my SE-L auto has never returned more than 30 mpg. I guess a heavy right foot can easily make a difference of 2mpg and a lot more I would have thought. If you are not seeing more than 30mpg on a long motorway run I think you should get it checked ASAP. The car, not your foot.
  13. I thought 32mpg around “A” roads and country lanes was extremely good for a 2.5 V6 car. I averaged close to 40mpg on a 400 mile round trip a couple of months ago. Agreed most of it was motorway but I still think it’s very good for a non diesel engine of this size.
  14. Hi I live fairly close to you and know the area well so I know the type of roads that you may use and I feel that consumption is about right. I get approx 32mpg around here but mine is an auto which is known to be better on this car. Figures taken from the Lexus web site: IS250 Manual Combined (mpg/l/100 km) 28.8/9.8 IS250 Automatic Combined (mpg/l/100 km) 31.0/9.1 So yours would seem about right to me.
  15. slightly off topic....my is220 is a lease car however, i have to sort the servicing out myself (well the company does) How are Lexus Exeter for servicing / warranty work etc? Thankfully I haven’t had a great deal done. I was going to have the dreaded dashboard rattle sorted about February (that’s when I found that they didn’t charge for a loan car) but I cancelled it as the rattle disappeared and has never come back (am I going to regret saying that). The only other thing was an adjustment of the auto lights which I said I would drop in for but they insisted that they would come to my house to save me the trouble bringing a laptop with them. This was a round trip of approx 60miles, so all I can say so far is that they have been A1, always extremely helpful. In answer to your question I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Let’s hope I can say the same after the bodywork repair and new seatbelt recall. I have a feeling that I will somehow.
  16. I got mine this morning as well even though I had already been told that mine wasn’t included.
  17. I have to say I tend to agree with Mr Morse. I was told by my local garage a while back that a car came in for an MOT with one headlight out, don’t people do simple checks before they take it in. They apparently did replace the bulb and pass it for the customer although they were not obliged to do this.
  18. That’s a good point and one I had already thought of. Lexus Exeter has already offered a loan car while the repairs are being done so I haven’t even asked More Than for one. They don’t charge for it either like some dealers I have been reading about on here. I asked that a while back when some other minor work was required.
  19. My wife has just had an argument with one of our infamous granite walls that we have in the lanes of Devon, I don’t need to tell you who won. She pulled in far too close to let another car by, deep scrapes to both passenger doors and the sill is dented. My reason for posting this is to praise our insurance company. People are quick enough to criticize but More Than have been excellent so far. First of all they suggested their own repairers but when I said I wanted a Lexus garage to do it there was no problem at all. All arranged now for an assessor to view it at Lexus next Thursday. I know there is still a way to go but they could not have been more helpful and all for £203 a year, easily the cheapest for us of any insurer and that included legal assistance and a never loose your no claim policy and bussiness use. Excess, £200 if anyone is wondering. I know this sounds a bit like an ad for them but I have to admit to expecting a bit of a battle because I wanted Lexus to do the repairs, I was happily proved wrong. Addition… Surely the front parking sensors must have gone off, I must ask, maybe not just yet though.
  20. I'm not too sure what you mean by the "wrong part" but I deliberately went into it too fast (not excessively maybe 10-15mph) and it took me around, it felt a little like I was on ice. I didn’t actually apply power in the middle of the bend but I did on the exit before it had completely straightened and it worked fine.
  21. It’s on mine. Have you made sure that the Left / Right switch is not in the centre mode, this turns it off?
  22. I think if the yellow VSC light flashes that means the traction control is operating and some power is being cut to one of the driven wheels - like when you pull out of a junction quickly. If the VSC light flashes and beeps then the whole VSC system has been actuated. That seems to be my experience anyway. I agree with the above. A friend of mine has a long drive that is all gravel and has a couple of sharp bends in it with flat grass as a run off, an obvious place to test a VSC system. Outcome, if the traction control ONLY is working the light on the dash flashes but if the VSC system cuts in (usually on the bends) it also BEEPS very fast and loud as well as the TRC light coming on. Hope this helps.
  23. It’s a very personal thing. I prefer the deeper blacks and depth and warmth of picture of a Plasma over an LCD any day, as I say it’s a personal choice. My reason for replying to your post Monster-Mat is that I have had a 42” Panasonic since April 2002 and have never heard anything about the servicing that you mention, it still works absolutely fine. Please enlighten me as I also have a 37” and this is also fine (a little newer). What do I have to do get the oil and filter changed or something?
