  1. Yesterday I fitted my borrowed set of 17" rims (thanks Zee and Ifraz) and raised the rear of the car about 30mm. Guess what? the vibration has totally disappeared :(

Although the low ride height made this vibration occur, I still do not think it is a fault with the coilover kit, I think it just makes another fault rear its head <_<

It looks really wierd being sat up in the air again, and the handling has suffered a bit as well :( but hopefully a full wheel alignment when I get my new rims may help.

Thanks again to Lexus Leicester for their help :)

  2. Hi guys, slight change of plan reguarding my rims <_<

Even though it says that they make 18" TOMs violent rims on the TOMs website, it turns out they are 17" only :( and I changed my mind on the Uno's after I saw some on another car.

I sort of decided to get some Kahn RSC 2 piece split rims and was all set for ordering them when I happened to recieve another e-mail from Steve Ganz........

He said "I have a set of 18" rims you may be interested in, there are only 8 sets in the whole of the US!"

They are 18" Ganador Pasion III 3 Piece Forged Aluminium split rims, as fitted to Steves own car

    Steve Ganz's SC300

PASIONSilver.jpg and he did them for me at half list price! I would recommend Carson Toyota to anyone, Steve Ganz has been really helpful :)

If all goes to plan, I should have them in a couple of weeks B)

  3. I can imagine the top end is really good ....last night came back from shopping and was doing 90 on A2016 only realised (was chatting to er indoors when the bend needed more helm adjustment than before :whistling:

Got a bit of vibration which I can feel thru the steering wheel which Mark is aware of & will fix when induction kit is fitted.

Lowering it has made it soooo much taughter....

Summer will bring the Racelogic thingy if funds permit :crybaby:

On Autobahns....am driving to Romania next summer so will get my chance then.....also the roads in Romania are arrow straight and fairly empty :yahoo:

may struggle to get Optimax petrol tho :(

The vibration will possibly be down to the strut brace Dave, which is exactly why I got rid of mine. I got more vibration through the steering and pedals which at the time I felt spoilt the ride a bit. Then I went and put coilovers on and made it worse than before :duh: :D

  4. If I do get them Asam (and it depends on price) I will be ordering them from Steve Ganz at Carson Toyota in the states. I kinda want to avoid a group buy as well because I am going to try my hardest to avoid paying import duty :whistling: and I reckon having more than 1 set shipped would just draw attention to them

  5. ok my hugely technical imput

this rumbling will have nothing to do with the coiover kit.

there is a slight possability of a bearing wearing or running dry

could be your exhaust vibrating, uphill under load the car will generate more vibrations, now these could be felt due to several reasons.

1/ your front strut brace will be stiffening the body

2/ there is some component slightly rubbing

3/ either an engine or gearbox rubber is dry

    4/ propshaft has an issue

I know it will not be my front strut brace because it is leaning up against the side of your car at TDI you gimp :lol::lol:

There are some more suggestions there for you Nick if the raising of my car does not work :)

  6. No I cannot 'drive out' of the vibration Nick, BUT (you have just reminded me of something else here :) ) If it vibrates badly and I lift off the accelerator, put the peddle straight back down to the floor, most of the time the vibration is not as bad the second time. AND if I change up or down a gear when it vibrates it does not seem as bad. What gear were you in when it vibrated on you? It seems to happen in 4th most of the time on me.

  7. Of course you can Nick, do what ever you think.

This is my other thought. On the TTE website, it says "TTE height adjustable Suspension Kit Height reduction to approx. 50 mm" and I am pretty sure my car is dropped more than 50mm. I reckon it is nearer 80mm lower than the IS200 sport which itself as you know is 15mm lower than standard.

I now have a horrible feeling that it is going to be something as simple as that which I could have tried at home :blush:

  8. Hi Nick, thanks for the reply

Right here goes. It did do it before I had the exhaust done as well, but only perhaps once or twice a month (that is why I never bought it in before) but it was not as severe as it is now since the lowering. Again, it only happened at about 70ish on the motorway and when going up hills. I put it down to different road surfaces to be honest  When I had the tyres changed in January/February, it made no difference at all, but this was before it was lowered. Do you think the camber angle on the rear wheels could have anything to do with it? If you look there is quite a degree of negative camber on the rear wheels which appeared when the car was lowered....

  9. Well I took my car into Lexus Leicester last night so they could look at it today, and guess what? It wouldn't bl**dy make the rumbling noise when I took one of the mechanics out :angry::angry:

Anyways, I rang them up at dinnertime today and they had taken the car out twice more and still never felt a thing :( :(

Finally got an answerphone message later in the afternoon saying that a mechanic and Nick (Hilton?) had been out and got it to make the rumbling sound :) :)

The diagnosis is possibly pointing to it being so low :( :( so I might have to raise it a bit  I would be suprised if it is this though because although Lexus UK do not approve the TTE coilover kit, it is designed by Toyota Motorsport specifically for the IS200.

I would like to thank Lexus Leicester for persevering with the problem and continuing to test the car even when they found no problem. I can certainly think of other dealerships that would have given up sooner.

  10. NONONONONO BLACK RIMS ARE BORING!!!!!!!!!!!

GET YOURSELF THE TOMS IN SILVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TRUST ME I GOT A SENSE OF STYYYYYYYYYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    lol

How can you say black rims are boring when 99.999% of cars on the road fitted with alloys have silver rims............ :duh:

  11. That was my choice as well Mat.......

I like black rims on almost any colour car, but I would be interested to know just what Hiper Black is..........do you reckon it would be like Zee's (sort of a black chrome)?

Just found out that they are only available in 8.5j x 18" so I will have to lift my car off the floor a bit :( :(

I can see some arch rolling coming up :(
