  1. Its all about the frequencies that the electrics operate on. Unless you use shielded audio leads, you will pick up the interferences. Even then its likely to still have an effect. TV's, home radios, allsorts pick up mobile phone 'beeps', its a fact of life now. My IS200 has the same problem, but hey, theres only two points on you're journey when you activate the mirrors, the beginning and end, so its not too much of an issue surely! Better earths may help the situation, but I doubt it. Earths are there to keep the flow of electricity, outside effects (mirrors etc) if using the same or near power frequency as the stereo, have the noise that the flow of electricity generates jump onto the wires of other things (you're audio leads) and is passed on along the line. Bit of a physics lesson I know, but that's an explanation in a nutshell!
  2. All I can say is keep it! I can still see the horror on the drivers face behind me when my motor shot two meters closer to him at a junction! Its all to easy to engage reverse instead of first when you dont think about it!
  3. Has anybody had their car resprayed? I have an IS200 and was looking at getting it sprayed with a basic gloss colour. Anyone have and idea what the average price for this would be?
  4. It might be that if you are wiring it up yourself that the resistor in the headunit is stopping the sound as a safety feature. A Pug 205 I had a year ago had a similar problem. I fitted a new headunit as the one the previous owner fitted was weak and nasty. Upon connecting the existing ISO socket to the new headunit I noticed it was a bit of a botched job on the wiring. Once fitted the new unit would power up and play CDs but there was no sound. The handy Halfords guru took one look at the ISO and said it was well dodgy! I bought a new one and refitted the system and all worked fine! You can get Halfords to order IS200 ISOs from autoleads. Took about 2 days for their Telford branch to get it for me.
  5. It looks to me like you would want both left and right audio channels connected. I recently bought a 1000W JBL sub and it only came with one channel input. It left me a bit stumped at first as this left the left-hand side speaker disconnected, but it still works with a heck of a thump, even without an external amp!
  6. If you're new speakers have only two wires, and the old ones have four, its best to test them whilst the stereo is on. Touch the old wires onto the connections on the new speakers and try combinations until you hear the sound come on. Im not sure whether the previous owners of my IS200 put new speakers in the rear, as I only had a red and white wire for each speaker. So when I uprated the speakers it was a like for like switch.
  7. Chances are that now you have replaced the speakers and the vibration is still there that it is the brake light. Or it could be any of the plastic trim around the window. My Mondeo I had a few years back had the same problem when I put some bigger speakers in, and to solve the problem I had to remove all the trim from the inside of the window. Suffice to say, it didnt look good or stay off for long, and I wouldnt advise doing it on a Lexus!
  8. Under the carpet in my boot there are two recesses either side of the spare wheel. The drivers side seems to have a lot of sealant around the edges of it, whereas the passengers side has none, but there's a little puddle forming at the bottom. What looks like the wiring for the parking sensor is down in this recess, and was getting quite wet (probably the reason for my dodgy sensor) so ive now wrapped the connections up in a plastic bag to keep them dry. Has anyone else had this leak and does anyone know where its leaking from?
  9. Im having a problem with my rear parking sensor. It's been fine for the few months Ive had it but now as soon as its put in reverse it just gives out a solid tone. Sometimes it does work correctly, but more often than not it sounds like a Space Invaders game. I suspect either loose wiring, or it could be a bit of damp wiring, as ive noticed a patch of carpet in the boot that is damp, on the passengers side. Maybe this is having an effect?
  10. Does anyone know of any websites/companys in the UK that sell modifications, accessories etc for IS200's? I've seen plenty of US sites, but I dont fancy having to import anything!
