  1. Good news!! I changed the colour and now I can have one in early April... It's Yellow with a green interior No... it's the dark blue one... meets the rest of the spec so I'm happy. :) Trouble is.... I'm away until late April!
  2. Just had an email... delivery date now 13 weeks! So ordered last week, 10-12 weeks; 1 week later now 13 weeks, so I make that delivery time of 14 weeks! I've emailed back and said I'm prepared to compromise on colour; apparently, demand for Brechin Slate is greater than expected. Sigh!!!
  3. 1.9 A4 was very frugal. We run a few A4's and the new 2.0 ones are not so good. I think, if I remember correctly, that the fuel efficiency test ( extra urban ) is carried out at 56mph. So if you drive everywhere at that speed, you'll do fine. If the police stop you, tell them your protecting the environment!
  4. Well it was a quiet Friday afternoon in the office so I spent most of it trawling the web.... Interesting reading.. Firstly, from reading the press reviews, half of the press liked the 220d, the others didn't ( I wonder how many actually drove it! ). As for fuel consumption, the engine is he higher power version of the current 2.2 Avensis engine (soon to be the same) with a different gearbox; the Avensis is front wheel drive. The Avensis gives excellent consumption figures. So are we looking at an EMU problem? The 320d I had a few years back had a similar problem, and that was down to dodgy firmware. Again, going back to the various reviews, there seems to be major differences between the same models, consumption AND gearbox wise.
  5. My handbrake is the same, have to check it every time I get out of the car. Yeah? I usually check mine when I get out of the car too. Never liked leaving a car without the handbrake on.:winky:
  6. Sounds Worrying... I commute between NW London and Canary Wharf. In the SAAB I'm getting around 18-20 MPG, and that's in a 210BHP 2 Litre HP Turbo. The Diesel SHOULD vastly outdo that. If it's that bad, I will switch to th 2.5 V6, but I need to make that switch PDQ. As for the handbrake problem, it sounds like it's been very badly adjusted to start with. On a new car, I would expect no more than 3 clicks to full lock.
  7. There is a big difference between dealers. I originally contacted the Lexus U.K. website, requesting brochures and a test drive. I won't name the dealer here who they passed on the details to, but they neither contacted me in response to that, or when I phoned them. I then called into another dealer and was very impressed. As my deal has now been done through a rather large broker, we'll wait and see if that has more weight when getting delivery.... I hope so, or I'll be catching the tube for a while! Ordered this week... delivery 10 - 12 weeks... We'll see.
  8. I'm afraid I had to compromise with the wife on that one... Brechin Slate and Beige. Not my first choice but hey!
  9. Well... I just placed my order for a 220d.. Having driven a BMW320d for three years, then a SAAB 9.3 Aero for 3 years, I was truly impressed when I did a test drive. Yes.. the gears are a little unusual, but that's just a case of getting used to them. As for comparison with the 320d? They are different beasts, the BMW is good, so is the Lexus. Why did I finally chose a Lexus? Have you seen how many BMW's there are in London! I wan't to be a little different. Apart from that, I've got a superb finance deal, better than I could get for a BMW or another SAAB. The Lexus will be arround a lot longer than either of its predecessors.. and it's cheaper to maintain. Just got to wait 10 - 12 weeks!
