  1. Pity you're in Dublin as I have a brand new pair of front OEM discs still boxed I could let you have at cost price. Sent you a private... mail that is
  2. Pity you're in Dublin as I have a brand new pair of front OEM discs still boxed I could let you have at cost price. I'd be interested, but I'm told there are two different sizes; question is, what size are yours? I mean that in the nicest possible way
  3. Had a call from Lexus Edware Road recalling mine for a new 5th Injector; seems they are fitting modified ones now. This is a recall by Lexus, although I never had a letter.
  4. Just changed my Fronts, but my rears are still around 3.5. I had Toyo's fitted to replace the Dunlops.
  5. Hmm... My 10K was £230 including Gold discount! Seems they saw me coming. That was Lexus Park Lane, it'll go back to Croydon for its 20k, which sadly will be next month.
  6. No, but just ordered a Speedkit from Speedkit.de. We'll see what happens; or not
  7. Very similar problem with mine - 4 little markes in an arch - right across the rear passenger door - same height as my son's bike handlebars...but of course it wasn't him and through to the metal!! I have had a touch up go meself and it has come out very good. I've used the car touch up kit from Lexus (£8), used cocktail stick to apply just inside the scratch, let it dry for a couple of hours and then cut it gently with TCut... A real fine job too...almost invisible from a few feet away, and after each wash I re-do it...almost totally filled and difficult to notice thoughy it's not 100% - more like 60%. Takes a lot of time and patience and a very steady hand. Your scratches seem to wide to do this easily, so I would recommend professional attention... Hmm, I've got a nice scratch and a few chips I need to deel with. The once scratch Lexus Park Lane quoted me 600 quid for. It's about 5cm long, I think I'll use your method! Do they do Canterbury Blue?
  8. So there I was, hottest day of the year, and the aircon is weaker then the wifes tea! Actually, it's been getting poorer for a few weeks. Anyway, I remove the pollen filter on Sunday, and hey presto, the aircon is now strong enough to blow my wig off. Now, Come monday morning, and I ring a lexus dealer, well I wait and I wait for parts dept, and eventually give up, I'll try another.... and I wait, and wait and give up, I'll try another... Ok, got a parts department person, hurray!!!! "Excuse me, could you give me the cost and the part number of a pollen filter for an IS220d?" "Hold on, I'll check" I hold.......................... "We don't have one in stock, but they are £38.??" "Oh, OK, can you give me the part number?" "We don't give out part numbers, but I can order one for you." "I'm sure you can!! Good bye!" :tsktsk: Now, Im not sure, but I think it's an offence not to give out the part number when requested, however I could be wrong. Any comments or ideas?
  9. it seems there is not much interest after all our hard work !! yes, sometimes people complaining and demanding a lot and as soon as you have a solution to offer .... silence! again, if anybody likes to get a detailed installation description (and how to order the unit in the USA) for vaistechs iPod interface, send your e-mail address as PM and you will recive the documantation as .pdf file. regards williz I'm interested... I believe the unit will work happily with the system installed in a new IS?
  10. Does anyone have any reccomdations re a decent paint shop arounf west London, who can remove a nice scratch that some iddiot has added to my front wing?
  11. Just had to post this..... :) Stolen from alt.autos.toyota: BOUGHT A NEW LEXUS RX400H, AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY COMPLAINING THAT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THE RADIO WORKED. THE SALESMAN EXPLAINED THAT THE RADIO WAS VOICE ACTIVATED AND THEN HE SAID " NELSON." THE RADIO REPLIED, "RICKEY OR WILLIE?" "WILLIE" HE CONTINUED AND "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" CAME FROM THE SPEAKERS. I DROVE AWAY HAPPY AND FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS EVERY TIME I WOULD SAY "BEETHOVEN" I'D GET BEAUTIFUL CLASSICAL MUSIC, AND IF I SAID " BEATLES" I'D GET ONE OF THEIR AWESOME SONGS. ONE DAY A COUPLE RAN A RED LIGHT AND NEARLY CREAMED MY NEW CAR, BUT I SWERVED IN TIME TO AVOID THEM. ''ASSHOLES!!'' I YELLED. THE FRENCH NATIONAL ANTHEM BEGAN TO PLAY, SUNG BY JANE FONDA AND MICHAEL MOORE, BACKED UP BY JOHN KERRY ON GUITAR, AL GORE ON DRUMS AND BILL CLINTON ON SAX--- DAMN, I LOVE THIS CAR
  12. A very good question matey!! I was told that the dealers do not know the "codes" to enter. If anyone can find out they will try. Is it that simple? We need someone in the USA at a dealership to tell us what to do, and the dealers can try. I'm off to the states later this year, and will try and get a dealer there to talk to my dealer here. Jamboo, I'm there most of the time..back again Monday, so will speak to Richard in Lexus Westside in Houston and see if he can supply the codes. Tango - cheers buddy!! My dealer defo mentioned that it's codes they enter into the system. They don't know what the codes are - not released by Lexus for Europe. That means either the system will take the codes, or the OS in the won't allow it and hence the codes have not been released. Either way, we should try it. As someone who was a victim of an attempted carjacking/boot snatch and grab twice, I really want the feature. Luckily my Audi was enabled with autolocking which saved me both times!! PS - even the crappy 307 and 407 SE's I've been bombing around in for work auto fold the mirros when locked...ALSO I always thought Pug diesels were smooth and quiet...boy these are rough!! 1.6HDi and 2.0/2.2HDi are pants compared to the IS220d!! I had a look the other day to see if there was any power to the door that toggles with the ignition, didn't have much time though. If there is, it's a sinch to put a small relay in the door to control the mirrors.
  13. 177BHP to 296BHP you sure? I'm sure I typed 196 BHP, but for some reason... Should be 196, but hey... 296 soundseven better! :D
  14. Mirror fold won't happen as the switch that controls it is a physical toggle switch. i.e. not controlled at all by the computer. I agree though, my SAAB had this, although you still had to tell them to fold, they would unfold automatically at 15MPH+. I'm pretty sure that the OS could do all the other stuff, either it exists already but is protected for some reason, or by a flash upgrade of OS. We need to present Lexus UK with a paper petition on thier doorstep. EMails are much too easy to ignore. When did you last see a Lexus rep in these forums?
  15. Yes.. but that's a LONG wait.... well in my case it will be. Oh well... bound to be a lot cheaper in 3 years
  16. Really excellent review. You should be a motoring journo... As I used to drive a 320d (2000 model) I totally agree with everything you say. Just a quick comment about mine..... Never had any rattles, apart from the wife, but that's removeable! The car is just solid, day in, day out... everything as it should be.. quite boring really. At the current rate of mileage as well, it will see the dealer only once a year, unlike my BMW that saw the dealership on an all too regular basis.
  17. Perhaps we could get 30 or so diesel owners to club together? :D
  18. Hmmm..... This needs to be tested by someone with a company 220d! http://www.solware.co.uk/car-performance-c....php?make=Lexus Lexus std BHP new BHP std TORQUE new TORQUE unit price (inc VAT) buy now IS2.2D-4d 177 296 294 324 V-CR £467.65 Thoughts..?
  19. I've got an IPOD size DAB unit that will plug into the Aux socketa etc, I was looking for a more permanent solution... The tat box in the armrest is already full!
  20. I want to install DAB in my IS220d. Now, REVO do a unit, reports vary though, and Halfords do a free install. ( Dangerous in itself! ) I once saw an IPOD system that would patch into the existing head and use the cars own controls. Anyone have any ideas?
  21. There's another thread on the Phones & V3x topic; I'm currently talking to Moto about it, we'll see what happens.
  22. Errm... hate to disagree, mine does play RW DVD's.. Not tried CDRW as I don't use them. I have created several DVD-Audio discs and they are fine; just bloody long winded to create them; but at least I have nice pretty menus :)
  23. After 600 miles..... After driving a BMW 320d for 3 years, followed by a SAAB 93 Aero for 3 years, I've got used to the gearing on the IS very quickly. Yes, 6th gear is strange, obviously it was set for the Autobahns, because if you use it here, you'll very quickly find yourelf nudging the 100mph mark as I did. It's a licence loser, it can very quietly creep up there, I didn't look at the rev counter, but I'm sure I was only doing about 2400rpm. On start up, the diesel sounds like a bag of spanners, but only from the outside; inside it seems to take about 10 seconds to smooth out. When it's warmed up, I can barely hear it at tickover, and a sweet low growl when revs go up as I pull away. There is some slight diesel vibration at tickover, but no more than my 320d. At motorway cruising speed ( 78mph! ), there's less noise than either the BMW or SAAB, and the BMW did not have low profiles. I have no problems with a standing start pull away, maybe because I anticipate it. Once past 2200 rpm, the turbo has kicked in, and any gear changes now will leave it kicked in. If you give it a few more revs, the torque band band goes comfortably to 4200+ before you start to feel it tailing off. I can cruise around town in 3rd and 4th, although 4th at 30mph is almost at tickover, and it can feel laboured when you try to accelerate, but great for economy! Conversely, in 3rd you can do almost anything, no need to drop into second when going round corners; I definately change gear less in the IS than I did in the SAAB due to the extra torque of the diesel. Acceleration from 50 to 70 is a revelation, I was concerned about that after the SAAB, but it's certainly quick enough to get out of problems on the motorway. I test drove the Honda, and the engine is smoother, however, it has no where near the torque of the Lexus, and that was the problem with it. When pulling away, It felt sluggish. The only query I have, is does everyone elses IS220d tickover at 1100 till it's warm? I'm half way to work before it drops back.
  24. Well said apart from the first line. but i'd say its mainly women over 30, or have never heard rnb and hiphop who think the lex is an old man car. Wife at first wasn't sure, now she loves it. Visited some friends over the long weekend, we left them with Lexus envy. Currently they have a 12 month old A4 and and a Jeep Cherokee... but guess what, after seeing mine and having a little drive, he's off to a Lexus dealer next weekend. Clarkson is out of touch with reality, and apparently it runs in the family!
  25. Just a note.. carrying on from previous threads on this topic. I am now in contact with motorola tech support regarding the V3x problems. I've since found out not only will it not auto pair correctly, the connection drops out after about 30 minutes. V3 still fine; D600 still fine. Very old Bluetooth Nokia I found in a box at home also works OK!
