After nearly 2 years of ownership and 23k miles of driving like an OAP to get mediocre fuel consumption (40ish at best) I have had enough. Car is a piece of S :tsktsk: Beemer 320d coupe and 50+ mph here I come.

£235 for 10,000 mile service. Only 1 dealer in Northern Ireland...charge what they like it would seem :tsktsk:

My car can manage 42mpg on a long motorway run at around 70mph. Short journeys vary between 25-28mpg depending on winter or summer. It went in yesterday for 12 month service, injector change, remap of ecu and alloy wheel replacement. Has not been returned yet as ecu locked up when being worked on. New ecu due next wednesday so will find out then of any improvement. Are you having the 5th injector changed or the whole lot? If it is the lot was there a specific problem that made your dealer decide to do this? My dealer told me that they have changed the 5th injector on a few cars but only after there was a problem with the engine management system when it went into limp home mode and the problem was directly caused by this injector. My car has over 11000 miles on the clock and the fuel consumption, which I was told would get better the more miles went on the clock, is getting worse. This car just does not do what it says on the tin i.e. combined fuel consumption of 44.8. But then what can you expect from a car that shares (among other things) a start/stop button with a Yaris. Is this Lexus taking the p :tsktsk: or what

Simon K and Cooper S mentioned on the 'Rattles Fixed' thread a while back that they had/were about to have the ECU reprogrammed on their 220d. Has anyone else had this done yet? If so, what has the result been in terms of driveability and fuel consumption? Can Simon and Cooper S give us an update?

Simon My dealer had informed me that Lexus were working on a fix for the poor fuel consuption. You say that the car feels different to drive than before. Is that a better kind of different? Have you noticed any change in the fuel consumption?

Sorry folks, but I'm just glad I didn't buy an oiler Did you really choose the first ever Lexus diesal for the economy? Yes......over a 250. For me it was a no brainer - list price £200 less than the 250 and the claimed ability of going half as far again on a gallon of fuel. The problem with the 220 is that it doesn't do what it says on the tin. I know that we all have different drining styles but, given the widely fluctuating fuel economy figures people have quoted on here, it seems to me that there has got to be a problem with either the engine mapping and/or the injectors as no-one on here seems to be able to achieve the 44.8 mpg combined figure quoted by Lexus on a regular basis with some people only achieving an average in the low 30's. Surely it is not unreasonable for owners to expect to get within at least 10% of the claimed figure without much effort. My personal experience is of a car that has never achieved 44.8 on a return journey never mind a tankful and that is getting harder on fuel the more miles go on the clock.

My car is now 1 year old and has just over 10,500 miles on the clock. from new I was averaging between 40 and 43 mpg per tank driving with a very light right foot. Since getting the car evryone I spoke to regarding the fuel consumption told me that it would get better the more miles I put on the clock. I have found the opposite to be true with my last tank averaging 37.7mpg - no change of driving style or routes driven. I raised this with my dealer who told me that I am the third customer who has complained of the fuel comsumption getting worse as the miles have gone on the car. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and, if so, have Lexus been able to come up with a solution?

I was given a Lexus 'Red Mica Chrystal Shine' touch-up kit when I took delivery of my (Mesa Red) car in January. Looks like Mesa Red to me

I got my injectors done at the same time as the seat belt recall BUT they have to order the injectors in - it took a week or so. If they want any more info then they need to speak to Richard at Lexus Poole - he's the service manager there. Thanks Scott

Took delivery of my car in January so I am assuming it is one of the early ones. Hope to book the car in for the seatbelt recall next week and will ask about the injectors when the car is in.

Scott What were the circumstances leading up to the decision to change your injectors? Was your engine running roughly or your fuel consumption particularly heavy?

I have now covered over 6500 miles in my 220d and have yet to better 42mpg for a tankful. Has anyone managed to equal or better the official combined figure of 44.8mpg for a tankful?

Marvelous!! Now I wish I'd had the Sport!!! Seriously, suppose it shows you actually use 6th more anyway. That sounds good actually. I use 6th from about 55mph on motorway, and its in the sweet spot from 60mph. I'm jealous :(

My car now has just over 3k miles and I have averaged between 38 and 42 mpg per tank. Is anyone bettering the quoted combined figure of 44.3mpg? Has anyone seen 50mpg+ on a reasonable length single journey?
