  1. I got the same problem as you farmer, (although I bought my car like that), I have 19" with 225/35 tyres. The wheels are too wide and/or wrong offset, don't look too bad but the 225 tyres are really too narrow for the wheels - should have 235's I reckon as no rim protection at all. But I think I would have problems with rubbing if I put on any wider tyres. The guy I bought it off had the rear arches rolled as they rubbed when people sitting in the back, I have no rubbing on full lock or anything but if I hit a dip say at the bottom of a hill where it starts to go up again I can hear a brief rub from the front wheels on something.). Question for anyone - doesn't the "correct" offset differ with different size (width) wheels? i.e. if you were comparing 7" wide wheels with 8.5" wide wheels - would the "correct" offset be the same?
  2. I assume the band at the bottom you are talking about is to un-freeze the wipers or something like that - does this come on with the rear-winder heater thing or what? And, yes I am thinking along the lines of "quick clear" screens, and you can get them in plenty of vehicles nowadays, not just fords. Just wondered if any glass manufacturers were doing them for vehicles where they are not an original option.
  3. Hi and welcome, Sorry to threadjack but just wondering if you have any links/details/pics/costs of LS430 side repeaters thing - are they straight swap? How do you remove the standard ones etc? A small thing but thats one thing I don't like about the IS - the side repeaters don't look great, would prefer a clearer "crystal" look - is that what the LS430 ones are like? Also whats the reason behind the fog light to brake light conversion I keep hearing about? Do they still act as fogs when the fog light switched on then? Thanks!
  4. As I just picked up a stone chip on the windscreen this morning, it got me thinking about whether it is possible to fit a heated windscreeen as a replacement to the IS200? Does any such windscreen exist? Lexus or third party? Anyone done this? I know they are expensive but I think it would be great to have during winter.
  5. Ahh, I didn't know that, maybe i'll try that then. As for putting more back in Noel - not a chance - it's nitrogen filled and if you let too much out then thats that. If you do do it, I suggest letting out enough air so you can compress it, then fit and let out small amounts of air inbetween testing it until its about right.
  6. I had my Mitsubishi FTO resprayed by Modified Metal in birmingham - from the standard silver to a metallic Gunmetal - it was £1600 which included all door-shuts etc but not interior or engine bay (which where not colour-coded anyway), and that included the brake calipers painting too. They did an excellent job and it still looks superb today. That was a year or two ago and the IS200 is obviously a bigger (4-door) car so I would expect you would be looking at something nearer £2000
  7. O.k., not the greatest of photos but... Here is the strut attached to the existing hole in one of the boot loop things (on the right-hand side in my car): Here is the bracket attached to the bulkhead behind the plastic "carpet" sheet: And here it is with the "carpet" back in place with cutout: Actually, seeing that first pic and the bump-stop pad against the loop has given me an idea - I may try glueing a spring or maybe just a foam pad or something to the bump stop/s to dampen the last bit of the boot opening and stop the "bounce".
  8. I just did this on mine - thanks to TheDon for the details. Very easy, I just used the gas strut as-is, comes with two types of end and I didn't bother buying any extra ends. And I just found a blanking plate in the office which I modified to use as a bracket, then used a few nuts, bolts, washers and screws I had kicking about. Only drilling required was two self-tappers into the back of the rear seat bulkhead, already a hole for the bolt on the other end. I just need to adjust the plastic carpet thing covering the bulkhead so the bracket is hidden but the strut can pop out from it. Still does bounce a little bit at the top when it opens (does not come up quite as slowly or controlled as I would like) but I don't think I can release much more gas. But it does open the boot fine which was the idea. :D I can prob post some pics if anyone is interested.
  9. Hey there, I just replaced my GPX with an IS200 Sport too! FTO is a great car but really enjoying being back as a Lexus owner.
  10. As the Prolex aux-ins are not currently available I was going to install an FM adaptor to my IS200 standard headunit. My question is, what kind of aerial input has standard headunit got? Will I need any adaptors if using a FM modulator like this: Thanks
  11. Nice one, just placed an order for some of the recommended stuff and also some P21s wheel gel (as the acid-based stuff I used to use on my old alloys is a big no-no for the new ones!)
  12. Cheers for the ideas guys, am I right in thinking Halfrauds does Meguiars stuff now? Also any other stockists for the Car-Lack/Klasse and P21s stuff? CarSparkle.com seems to have shockingly bad stock levels - only a handful of stuff seems to be in stock!
  13. G games 98b look awsome Volk Progressiv TE face 2 look awsome too - I am a big fan of six-spokes Ro-Ja R2-7 Rays metal coat look good but in my opinion anything polished/chrome is bad news in uk weather, especially salty winter roads - as I am sure I will find out next winter (just bought the car and didn't choose the wheels), already spots of corrosion on them. I would go for a laquered finish every time. Never been a fan of black wheels, on any colour car.
  14. Basically, I am too lazy to really spend hours and hours cleaning and polishing my car and am after some basic cleaning polishing products, but when I look at certain brands and stuff like Meguiars or Autoglym they all seem to have about a million different treatments, shampoos, polishers, cloths, clay bars etc etc etc - the list is endless and very confusing! :duh: What are some good products without going overboard? Like just a good polish or something? Not really interested in a 10-stage process involving 20 different products, however good the end results might be. Any advice appreciated.
  15. Just bought a 2001 IS200 Sport, so thought I would say hi. I used to have an IS200 SE for a couple of years back in 2000, then went to a Mitsubishi FTO mainly cos the IS200 was too practical for my needs (if that makes sense) and I fancied something a bit sportier. Now back to an IS again as its such a sweet motor. As you can prob see it's had a few mods, the chrome 19" wheels are a bit "bling" :zee:, not what I would have chosen but I am starting to like them, and all in all I think it looks sweet B) and its only done 11,000 miles. The previous owner was a club member so maybe some people recognise it?
