  1. Thats what I thought.. but not sure if I can pull the wiring loom for the door out through the small hole with all the connectors still attached. I guess I'll see.. would rather be prepared for it though so it doesnt take several days to complete! Park my car on the street so can't be without a door ;-) Martin
  2. Hi there I've had some dodgy repair work/paint on my 2 offside doors and have picked up a couple of replacement doors for an OK price. The last car door I replaced was on an 80's Mazda and seemed a fair bit simpler. Can anyone offer some advise? How about the wiring? I think the wires on my replacement doors have been cut :tsktsk: so I might need to either swap the wiring over from my existing doors, or do a join. Any ideas what is easier? Hoping someone has done this before... Martin.
  3. yea, but hes over 100 miles away lol... i need a breakers in the essex/london Still looking? i have some used ones, could post to you. pm me.. Martin.
  4. Awesome link, thanks mate! Does anyone know the Toyota part number for the thermostat? (and gasket if its seperate..). I can't see it on that site.. I'll try pick one up from my local Toyota dealer rather than Lexus because its much closer, but they always seem to need the part number because they can't look up Lexus cars. Martin
  5. Thanks. Can anyone help with where the thermostat is, and any tips for removal/refitting/where to purchase a replacement for a decent price?
  6. I have a 99 IS200 sport, 98000 miles. The engine is very slow to warm up, previously it would be at normal temperature within a few miles, now it is barely registering on the gauge after that distance. During motorway driving, the temperature gauge only reaches approximately ~1/3 on a 30 mile trip. Previously, the gauge sits at 1/2 deflection during normal driving. The heater only blows warm air, I was able to have it on maximum heat setting during that 30 mile trip without it becoming uncomfortably hot. When stationary, the temperature gauge reaches 1/2 and the radiator fan can be heard to switch on/off. It seems stable like that, what I would expect. The radiator reservoir was checked and was below the lower limit. I refilled it and the problem still occurs. No visible leaks. Minor gurgling sounds on startup, indicating possible trapped air. I’ve squeezed the radiator pipes to try expel it, next I’m going to try running the car on a hill to see if it will cure that. Any suggestions? I’m suspecting the thermostat could be stuck in the open position, meaning cold water from the radiator is continually flowing into the engine so it doesn’t reach its normal operating temperature unless the car is stationary with no airflow to the radiator. Does it sound possible? Or any other likely causes? Martin.
  7. Dont worry, found the guide in the Knowledgebase. I love this website :) http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...p;id=30&c=5
  8. Ok, I thought it must be easy to remove the wing mirror glass, but I've pulled at it like crazy from all angles with no success. How do you do it? :) Martin.
  9. Thanks Chris Not sure new is in my budget. I was hoping for a cheap deal on Ebay for a used one. Sounds like its possible anyway, thats what I needed to know. Just gotta figure out how to get at the screws/clips :) Martin.
  10. Hi My wing mirror has been broken off, I repaired it a few times using glue, but it keeps breaking again. I finally accepted I need to get a new one! Question - can I take the section which is painted, and fit it onto a replacement wing mirror which is the wrong colour? It looks like it might unclip or unscrew. Has anyone had one of these apart? I'm not even sure how to go about it.. how do you remove the glass mirror section? Martin.
  11. 2nd nature for me too, but not my passengers who insist on closing the door on them :) Thanks, keys are all good now! Thanks everyone. I guess I'll take a wee look and see if cleaning/lubrication helps. Martin.
  12. Hi I have a 99 IS200 Sport with about 100k on the clock. The seatbelts (pretty much all of them) don't retract very well. Some are worse than others, and really need to be 'fed' back in to get them to go away. I'm worried about them getting damaged if they get shut in the door, etc. Any ideas if this can be tightened, or do I need to replace them? How much do they cost, and what is involved in fitting? They are the cream colour. Martin.
  13. I have an IS200 with no ISOFIX. We use a Jane Matrix seat, that came with our 'travel system'. We've used it both sitting and lay flat configurations in the rear seats. It wasn't professionally professionally installed by a shop (bought it on Ebay) but it appears quite rigid to me when fitted. There are instructions with the seat on how to install it (if you're part genius). Some people seem to like it, some don't: http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/rev...duct.asp?id=178 Martin. P.S. Congrats on the birth :D
  14. Kevlex, top post mate thanks. Here are my measurements: Battery voltage after being parked for ~24hrs: 12.56V Battery voltage with the car idling @ 935rpm and all accessories turned off: 14.30V Battery voltage with car idling @ 847rpm with headlights and rear window heater turned on: 14.23V Battery voltage with car turned off completely after ~5mins idling: 13.62V Current consumption with car turned off, all doors closed, all accessories off, doors unlocked, alarm off: 93mA It all looks OK to me, although the current consumption is a bit higher than the 50mA you specified. Where did that number come from, and does anyone have comparative measurements to see if mine is really different? My only electrical modification from standard is changing the headunit to a Pioneer CD/Bluetooth device. It definitely turns off when the car is off. Perhaps it has a higher Iq rating that the standard player? I don't think 93mA is going to do that much damage to a 60Ah battery anyhow. Martin.
  15. Thanks DJ Wozza. Thats about more what I'd expect. How about the current draw from the battery when the car isn't running to make sure nothing is draining my battery when it is parked up? Anyone got a rough idea what to expect? Martin.
  16. Hi Aaron. I haven't checked the batteries acid level and strength. It is only 9 months old and I took it back to the the supplier (Unipart) today for testing. They said it is fine, and recharged it for me for free! :winky: Thanks for the tip on the voltage, but 16V seems really high to me. Is it based on measurements of your car? Martin.
  17. Hi Recently had a problem with my battery going completely flat after it came back from the body shop getting the rear bumper resprayed. I'm not sure if they left the lights on or something to flatten it, or it is unrelated, but... I want to check my car out to make sure it will be OK. I want to check first the battery is getting charged properly, and then that there is nothing unexpected which will flatten the battery. Can anyone help with rough numbers for what to expect here? 1. Battery voltage when car is idling (I.e. from the alternator). - Should this drop much when headlights etc turn on? 2. Current consumption when the car is turned off completely, with all interior lights off, etc. 3. Current consumption when the car has the ignition turned to 'on' with some specified number of accessories running? Thanks Martin.
  18. I got the codes scanned by my local friendly garage for free. Misfiring on cylinder 1/2/3. Cleared the codes and restarted the engine, then only misfiring on cylinder 3 came up. I'll check the spark plugs tonight... but where is the cheapest place to get a coil pack? Toyota quoted me £88+VAT.. don't really want to pay that. Anyone got a second hand one? Martin.
  19. Thanks mate. Will take the car to a local garage to get it scanned to see how safe it is to drive. I'm annoyed, I just realised left my OBD2 cable at home... best to leave it in the car huh! Martin.
  20. Hi I have a 99 IS200 Sport. This morning on the way to work I was driving on the motorway at about 40mph when my engine light started flashing. I was just turning off so gently drove the car to a safe place to stop. The car did seem to be running slightly rough when I had to accelerate up a light hill as I parked. I turned the car off then on, and the light didn’t flash again. My work is only 0.5miles from where I stopped, so I continued my journey. The engine light started flashing again, then the TRC OFF light started flashing too. Last week the TRC OFF light flashed once or twice too, but today was the first time I’ve seen the check engine light. 1. Any ideas where to look? I have a obd scanner for my PC, but no software to use. Can anyone recommend something? 2. Any ideas for basic things to check on the car? 3. I have a 40 mile journey home tonight. Would anyone risk driving the car? Martin.
  21. Are you saying its possible to buy a replacement "base"....? What do you mean by this? The lower moulded section of the wing mirror I hope!? My wing mirror is cracked and I have glued it back together a few times now. If I could buy just the part I need to get it fixed properly I would be very happy. Martin.
  22. I've got the same issue. Noticed it after a coolant change, but haven't got around to trying to remove air. Can anyone provide a process for this on an IS200? Luckily I haven't had any overheating problems. Martin.
  23. Hi sparkystav Were your old calipers in good working order? I need some possibly to fix a sticky piston on mine. Let me know if you wanna get rid of em! Hopefully not double the price for the lexus logo ;) Martin.
  24. Thanks mate, got your settings on file! Will take them to whoeve I decided to get to do the work, and post feedback here. Martin.
  25. Hi My brakes were shuddering. It is worst braking from 70mph while going down hill. I replaced the front pads and discs with Mintex parts from Ebay. There is little or no improvement. 1. How can I check the caliper/pistons are OK? They looked pretty corroded on the outside (Its a '99 Sport) but I was able to push the piston back in OK and when I pulled back the seals in sliding part of the piston looks OK. 2. How can I check the balljoints? I read elsewhere this can cause brake vibrations 3. I'm waiting to get a geometry check done. My steering wheel is about 15deg offset when I'm driving straight, indicating someone has messed with it before. Could this be contributing? Any other ideas? Martin.
