  1. I bought the roof bars from lexus for £100 then added these carriers available from halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...79529&langId=-1 sorry if the link doesn't click and you have to cut & paste it basically, the bikes are held tightly with the upright post, you wedge the front wheel into the moulded part so have hands free to do the rest, everything locks so you can leave your car unnatended outside cafes, services etc. (although not something i like to do with my scott genius on the roof!) And i paid £56 for a pack of 2 cariers 18 months ago of this tinternet site but the price seems to have shot up http://www.skidrive.co.uk/cycle/cyclesearc...ype=roof&res=20 they are very good and glad i didn't go for the cheaper option hope this helps :D
  2. lexus chester told me it was 5 years + unlimited miles. My lex is a 99t and had about 143,000 miles when the cd was replaced. didn't have any problem at all.
  3. this may sound a bit daft. Has anybody ever noticed that when the aircon is blowing warm as it normally is at this time of year, it blows cold air whilst driving round tight left hand bends or pulling out of left hand junctions quickly. Mine does it at the same junction nearly every morning.
  4. I sorted a replacement head unit out over the telephone with lexus chester. Just gave them a call and details, they gave me an estimated delivery time of 4 weeks, then called me back about 3 weeks later to tell they had the unit in, so I popped down after work and 30 mins later had a new stereo. Just managed to get out of there without part xing the motor for a new one(gonna wait for the new model) B)
  5. Thanks for the replies, Drained the tank today so the Diesel is all gone, had to put some more unleaded in it to get it to my mate garage so it cost me about 30 quid in fuel altogether. I have been advised by others as well as yourselves that the filter will need changing, is this something I could do myself, never even seen a fuel filter before and also would it have to be done right away as Steve says. I was told the filter get's blocked by the diesel so if the car runs ok now it's all gone, will it still need changing? Thanks again. :) P.S. Tried the syphoning but it does have an anti syphon filter(?) about 12 inches down inside the filler pipe.
  6. I was sorta thinking along the same lines as what Steve said, Unless any tells me that it will damage anything in the engine or fuel pump ??
  7. I Dunno why the pump fitted, I thought that afterwards, It was a safeway garage with Diesel ultima? Don't know if there a different pump or what?
  8. :iraqi-info-minister: I must have been asleep this morning cos forgot which car I was driving and put 10 quids worth of diesel in my motor. The petrol station was only down the road from where I live so managed to get home without any difficulty, the car was blowing a little smoke when I pulled up at my house but nothing else. Question is, what is the best course of action, I'm not in the RAC etc. so can't get them out to drain the tank, I possibly could get someone else to do it but not till Thursday, as I had only a fivers worth of unleaded in the car prior to putting the diesel in, and only put a tenners worth of that in, would it work if I went back to the garage and put 35 - 40 quids worth of unleaded in as well ( dilute the diesel....) Before anybody says it, I know I'm a numpty. Illy. PS woman at the petrol station couldnt help me when I asked her if we could drain the tank there.
  9. Besty, I wouldn't even know where to start. Where would you drain it/fill it from.
  10. Mines just coming up to 140,000 miles now and no major probs. Would defo get the wheels done if any sign of corrosion as mine were only slightly pitted when I bought it 12 months ago and are now in a terrible state. Also check the cd as mines "Jammed up like a good un". Engines fine though and still sounding sweeeeet! :D
  11. Hi I used to regulally order dvd's and cd's from amazon.com which is based in the states and is a hell of a lot cheaper than the uk site. I never paid any vat charges on maybe 5 deliveries but it seemed to change after the Anthrax thing happened over there with the anthrax being sent through the post. Since then I've had to pay each time I've ordered anything, maybe another 4 deliveries, put this down to the post office doing more checks for security. subsequently have stopped ordering from there as it doesn't work out any cheaper because of this.
  12. :D very good discussion. Does anybody think there is a difference in mpg return between the auto IS200 and the manual.
  13. I get about 23mpg as a norm(no motorways and a heavy right foot) but on a trip down south a couple of months ago I was getting well over 30 mpg(maybe as high as 34) only doing 70 mph and hardly pressing the accelarator. Not bad for a car with 135,500 miles on it,doesn't seem to be much difference to cars of a lesser mileage.
  14. ok,tried those last night, neither worked so will have to strip it at weekend, Thanks for the info anyway. John. B)
  15. thanks, will try both those tonight. :hohoho:
