Hi guys,
got back this afternoon to find the Battery dead, got the rac out the got it started and we took the car for a blast to recharge the bat.
however ive now noticed that the center console where the mpg/temp control is, is constantly on, it does dim from full brightness however it is still on all the time.
Ive checked the switches and non of them work when off so its not getting full power however its probably enough to be killing the Battery.
Any suggestions where I can start looking?

theres a warning light if its off. also you can slide the car without using too much power, going sideways doesnt always spin the tires so the trc wouldnt kick in
-
tires? what rubber have you got on and are they the correct rating, pressures etc
-
the missus got a lexus teddy they are about 50 quid
-
I think it starts to kick in at about 4200Rpm. Can't be sure though, with this weather, I often go over 4000Rpm
Grtz, Philip!
vvti doesnt kick in its constant, v-tec kicks in as is like the honda's. What you feel at 4k is a sudden burst of torque is what is known as a power band and thats when it starts.
Variable Valve Timing just adjusts when and for how long the valves stay open for depending on revs, gear, throttle positon and ecu management variables such as snow mode. Performance aside it was designed to improve engine efficiency.

power really is all but then alot of whats been complained about came on the later 200's full leather, armrests etc ive already got as standard.
cruise control well you could have bought the auto, there wernt many manual cars with cruise control 10 years ago.
hid's well thats a cheap easy fix
nothing else other than power that I can think of
-
I just working it out to 15mpg
-
Before you do that,
how often do you open the boot, mine only opens perhaps once or twice a week and sticks so the first time its opened it requires a little tug, once it has opened once its fine
-
if the trc light in on on the dash it means its off
-
Never had it stall on mine and mines a manual perhaps its only the autos that it stalls on?
I also would say the traction control is ok, dont get me wrong its not the best as its an on off system it would be much better if it detected how much slip there was and varied itself however ive never had the cant continue forward due the the trc kicking in like some oof you guys have had. It slows the acceleration down and annoys you with a flashing light but thats about it

bournemouth and err well nothing in fact the suns out here

where does it say a timing belt is designed for 100k miles?
What seems like more of a waste is ruining a good car over a few hundred quid
-
Looks like someone finally got a figure.
5.5k drive in factory drive out 240 bhp

Update. Rang lexus poole, Cant buy the cover for the is200 need to buy the whole key at 70 quid + vat. However the rx300 that shares that same key can be bought for 9.99 + vat which even compared to eBay isnt too bad so Ive got one on order.
Just though you might like to know so if youve got a bust rear cover and all the other bits are ok you can order an rx300 rear cover from the dealer for not too bad a price which should fit
-
But not how you probably think.
The back cover of my key that has the lexus logo on it has snapped where the screw is.
Has anyone got an old one from a key thats died that they dont need.
No hurry got the spare and if I hold the case on the old key still works.
Anyone got any spare going as I bet lexu will charge me for a whole new key :(

hi there i have one of spc turbo kits and all i can say is that its the nuts.
you get so much for your money,if you compare it to the supercharger kit the power diffrance is out of this world.
i think the supercharge ones could just get 220bhp,stage1 turbo kit is 250bhp,and then all you need to do is get the stage2 kit which is bigger injectors and a remap and you are over 300bhp,and this is still on the std engine.
im waiting for my bigger injectors so at the min im on 250bhp but boy dose it make a diffrance the car just comes alive.
mine comes on boost at about 4000k which is nice as you can drive around town and it is still a lexus but then let it rev over 4000k and all hell brakes loose.i get the noise from the screamer pipe and the chatter from the turbo then the dump valve.
as i say the car has come alive by doing this i highly recommend it.
thanks jamie
Getting so much for your money sounds great but how much money?
someone somewhere must be able to release a price for it even if its just a ball park figure, I know it depends on what you want and what state the car is in but we all know its about 2.5k for a sc to take a standard car to 220ish bhp how much is it for the off the shelf stage 1 kit to take a standard car to 250ish bhp? I cant be that big a secret can it? It really shouldn't be that tricky to estimate how much it costs, no one minds a few quid extra here and there if an extra part or something happens
-
give Allison a ring at poole 01202 667575, always had great service from them. Cant comment on the 250 but a minor service on the 200 is about 150ish quid I think my bill was just over 200 quid including an mot

all the same apart from diff. even the suspension on the later models was the same it was only the earlier models that were different. apart from that you get tinted windows at the back with a sports logo
-
any news on cost do you know? thinking base cost bolt on with no internals as yet
- 1
-
So whats the news on this guys?
Is it a realistic replacement for the sc option?
Any news on power/cost and if its a one off or an off the shelf bolt on option
-
Drove the wifes sc in to work this morning and god do I miss the stick shift of the is200.
Dont get me wrong its a great car bags of power and smooth as silk but I find myself swearing at it wanting the damn thing to change down when I want it to.
Once I get old and cant be bothered to enjoy driving anymore then great but until then give me gears

Is that not normal?
