  1. What kinda job is it replacing the clutch on an IS200 (99 V)? Any particular tools required?

Mines on its last legs, and rather than paying Lexus to do it, ive got someone who's very good mechanically willing to have a go at it.

Also, does anyone know the cost of a clutch? And the cost if i were to get it done at lexus?

Thanks in advance for you help :)

  2. 18" Alba Edge chrome (triple plated).

Just over 3 months old, perfect condition.

I paid £1495 for them a few months ago. I know i'm not going to get my money back on them, i accept that, but what sort of price do you think they're worth?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  3. They look nice mate - do they take much cleaning?

Not really mate, due to our crappy weather i clean them about every other day, in which time they're not very dirty - just a bit of surface dust/dirt which takes away the shiny look.

  4. looks good esp on black & tint the windows as well

:offtopic: why is the url on corsasport.co.uk

I used to own a Corsa before my Lexus, and i use the premium membership for the free space to upload images :)

  5. I wouldn't say it's a must, but it'll certainly look better  :)

Oh yeah, the chap said that if i do get any small stone chips etc, to cover the chip with clear nail varnish. Best get to Boots at the weekend LOL.

If my memory serves me correctly, you're a big doorman type bloke. Will be a funny sight watching you buy girly nail varnish in Boots.....

Looks like a job for the gf lol, or i'll take one of my chromes in a push chair to test the nail varnishes out on it

  7. Raz - any particular polish to use mate?

    Yep, with tyres :)

The guy at R-Tec said to wash them every couple of days, and to polish them a couple of times a week. He also said to watch out for small stone chips etc, which if left unattended, will eventually get bigger and the chrome will begin to flake off.

Hopefully we won't be seeing anymore of the gritters and salty roads!

  8. Purchased today from R-Tec, chrome 18's (ALBA Edge 700).

Quality looks pukka, i looked at a few other chrome rims and the finish looked a little bumpy, as if it was a very thin layer of chrome. Think mine are triple layered.

Walked in R-Tec, looked around for a few mins, talked to a chap about the chromes, he said he had a set in stock... an hour later the lex was sitting on 'em and i was £1495 shorter

Didn't even intend on buying anything, was just going for a browse :whistling:

Also, ive always told myself i'd never get chromes due to our crappy weather, oh well i'll just have to clean 'em every couple of days

  9. Craig from Bedfordshire.

Im 20 years old (21 in March).

I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 2 years.

I'm a doorman at a nightclub 3-5 nights a week, and as a day job i'm a Prisoner Custody Officer (i work for Group 4). Basically transporting prisoners in the cell-vehicles and escorting them between prisons/courts etc (i get to use handcuffs woohoo lol). We have to have one driving the vehicle and one sat in the back with the prisoners, i also get to sit in on court cases etc.

As you can imgaine, between both of my jobs, i get to meet some, erm, *interesting* people.

When i have time, i enjoy boxing, kickboxing and the gym.

Ive had my IS200 for nearly a year now, only mods so far are tints all round and a HSK Super Drager. I may look into getting some 19's if i dont decided to sell up in the near future.

    :)

  10. Hello, can anyone recommend any plush hotels in London?

My girlfriend wants to stay in one for our 2 year anniversary (Sat 21st Feb), but me being me, ive left it to the last minute as it's only a couple of weeks away.

I cant see booking being a problem though, as it's the week after Valentines day so should be pretty quiet?

I've been to London only a few times before, so have no idea as to which part would be best to goto (west end, east end etc?).

Ive heard of a couple which are nice (and expensive lol), but they boast having gyms and lots of facilities etc, which isn't really an interst to me as i'll only be there for the night... so basically i'm looking for a nice plush hotel, with a nice plush room.

I enjoy a nice steak so any good places where i could get a good lump of steak would be appreciated too :D

    Many thanks people B)

  11. Most of these cockroaches nowadays are drug fuelled and show no reason or mercy.

Ive never touched a rec drug so have never experienced the effects, but i remember one time we had trouble with a guy who was coked up out of his head, he was tiny but his strength was absolutley unreal.

  12. What gets me is having doormen at a pub.....whats all that about?

Maybe i frequent to many dodgy pubs :lol:

Most of the pubs around town have doorman thurs/fri/sat/sun. Alot of pubs in the area are going for late licences, infact the Littern Tree re-opened with it's late licence this week - they can now shut at 2am.

Ive never worked in a pub, only nightclubs. The pubs around here don't have much trouble, so only have upto a few doormen on.

  13. ifraz, as to how easy it is to get in comes down alot to where you're going out i suppose. I went to London once and they're extremley strict in some places, a real a*se to gain entry!

At our club it's down to the doormans discretion. I'll only knock someone back for the obvious things - dressed wrong (we have a dress code for each night, but pretty much if you look smart you'll get in, i usually only turn people away with trainers and tracksuit bottoms on). Obviously if they're young looking and don't have I.D then they wont get in.

In a nutshell, i'll only turn you away if you're a scruffy git, underage, too drunk or full of attitude.

As for looking stiff, lol i'm probably guilty of this. I'm just doing my job though, people have to understand that if i get 5+ security calls a night, i'm going to be on edge and ready to pounce. We have a couple of doormen who are totally opposite, always joking about and laughing with the ladies etc - but they're our weak links who more often than not will miss a security call because they're yapping.

A physical presence is a good thing, as it's an obvious visual deterant - but times have changed. Size means nothing in todays world. Im 6ft and 18st but i know there's plenty of 5ft 5, 10 stone guys who would probably stick a bottle over my head in the blink of an eye. Good communication is the greatest tool a doorman can posess.

If i'm honest, punters probably look at me and think 'look at that grumpy b*stard*, what they don't understand is i'm trying to watch over 1000+ people, always alert and always looking for potential situations. Sorry if i don't smile whilst doing so lol. If someone approaches me for something they'll find i'm very polite and helpful.

Being a doorman is a very thankless job, to the punter it just looks like we stand there doing sod all and looking hard. We literally put our lives at risk every night, but it goes far beyond just breaking up fights and chucking people out, only a few weeks ago i saved a girl who had been drugged from being taken away by some bloke (long story, maybe another thread) - the power of observation.

Sorry you and your friends got knocked back mate, i do know that some doormen are actually total utter tosspots, who give us all a bad name but you get good and bad in everything :)
