No that's total BS, they will work but possibly not as well or for so long, remember they should last 60k. BUT from experience Jap cars work better with Jap plugs. Personally I'd go with NKG or Nippon Denso.

Could you reccomend where fo get them from and what would be the best model of plug to get to get the best spark. I though bosch super 4 were v good as they gave 4 sparks!!

Just my option but i wouldnt buy anything off ebay.

Phone or call in to a couple of other car shops and see if they give you the same or different answer as Halfords did.

Then buy the pattern version champion or bosch plugs,there all good brands.

I read somewhere that if I put bosch plugs in the car wont work. It needs the standard make? is this true?

Also does anyone know what will give the best performance and life? Thats why thought Busch super 4?

Spark plugs on a GS300 MK1.

Halfords can provide champion and bosch plugs.

What would everyone recommend I use when changing? Stick with Lexus at £12 each? Buy 2 packs of 4 from Halfords for £30 total?

I am getting v poor MPG and dont know if it is O2 Sensors, air filter, spark plugs, or something else

I do 22 mile to work and 22 mile home. Motorway (m3). Average speed is usual about 40-50mph.

Currently I get between 18 and 21 MPG.

Total about 280-300 to a tank...

I have check the two front o2 sensors and I there resistance is ok. Is it work replacing them anyway?

Any ideas any one?? please???

Does anyone know how the stereo cd and amp link up in the MK1?

Does the cd music signal go to the head unit and the back out to the amp, and thus the stereo controls the volume directly?

Or does the cd go straight into the amp and the stereo controls the volume remotly?

I have just checked again and the resistance has dropped to about 13.4 ohms.

Does that mean that they are not faulty?

Or could the heating elements have gone? Or maybe they need a clean!!

OK just tested the resistance of the 2 front sensors.

14.1 on both. They might have been a little warmer that 20oC i left my car for about 1hr to cool. Does this mean they dont need replacing??

I still get rubbish MPG. i get like 280 max in a tank!!!!

@ 20c (68f) all sensors should have a resistance of between 11.7-14.3 ohms

(+B and HT)

if not between them figures replace sensor

just been out today, had a look, all mine are single wire sensors, so , info not really much use, looks like usa and uk cars have different ones on

The sensors have 4 wire. Which 2 do I measure the resistanec across? THe two heater or the singal and ground?

Also should they be plugged in whilst doing this?

Will the wiring still be there like in the manual. It describes there is a cable that would unplug and plug the telephone system into both bits.

Here is another wiring diagram that might help.

By the looks of it all the wiring is there for a car kit (e.g. bluetooth) to splice into and use the back speaker..

I have been looking at the telephone kit in the PDF manual for the GS300 MK1.

Is this still available from Lexus? Anyone know prices? or can i get one from the US.

:winky: Also what phones will it work with? Could this telephone port be used with a Bluetooth car kit and a bit of clever wiring to go through the speakers. I have attached the wiring diagram for it. Any ideas??

I am planning on buying a Bluetooth car kit.

There are leads so that the sounds goes through the existing speakers whilst muting the Stereo.

So here is my questions:

Does the MK1 GS300 have a telephone mute wire??

Is it possible to buy a converter to convert the Lexus Loom to standard ISO and then buy the reverse to plug back into the stereo and thus meaning I do not have to cut wires.?

Does anyone have some pictures of their MK1 with an induction kit fitted?

I have to be really careful when coming of roundabouts as if i push the accelerator to much the back end flys out!!!

What do I do. I have seen on www.o2sensors.com a set of 3 sensors for my MK1 GS300 will cost about €300. I could get Universal ones for less.

Does it matter on make? If i get cheaper universal one will they last as long??

Any ideas out there?
