  3. http://www.bowlingfans.com/news/news07032001.shtml Mr. Smith emphasized that AMF remains committed to long-term growth of its business in the U.S. and its global markets: "Bowling is fundamentally a good business. With almost 54 million Americans bowling at least once last year, it is the largest participatory sport in the U.S. Around the world, we estimate that over 100 million people in 90 countries went bowling last year."

  7. "...What you're saying is that if I speed, I should pay, say £200, and boy racer in his clapped out death-trap Nova if caught for speeding should pay £20 (figures plucked from air)..." No, that isn't what I meant at all. Of course fines would be subject to a minimum so he wouldn't get a £20 fine 'cos he was unemployed and only 17. He'd get £200 or £2,000 or whatever and/or go to jail for not paying. The idea was that the sliding scale should slide upwards, not downwards to ensure that all criminals feel the pain.
  8. I agree with having to dispay an insurance certificate. A few years ago my insurance company (can't remember who it was) included a mini-certificate, complete with hologram IIRC, along with the usual certificate. They said it was part of a volitary scheme by insurance companies to introduce such a thing 'cos the Government wouldn't. Seems to have died off, which is a shame. Also agree that fines (all fines) should be linked to income and/or cost forgone. Fines for non-insurance would always exceed the insurance not paid; Parking and speeding fines would be proportional to income or value of car. The punsihment should fit the crime.
  9. ...on Scooby Net. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?...D=215119&Page=1 Apologies if this is old news
  10. Last night on the way home I got stuck in some traffic so the handbrake was going on 'n off more than usual. Then I noticed that the red dash warning light was on. Mmmm, handbrake is off & the manual says "stop immediately and contact Lexus". Well, the brakes didn't feel any different and it had cleared itself by later that evening. My question is... am I safe in assuming that this was just the handbrake switch acting up or should I stop driving it and get the car checked out? Anyway, it got me thinking and I remembered that the service is due soon. I was considering going to Lexus Guildford. Anyone got any feedback on them and do they give "Goldmember" discount? If not, can anyone recommend a garage that does? PS, I live in Walton-on-Thames & work in Staines if it helps. Many thanks guys.
  11. Signed up for Gold membership last night just to get hold of one of those armrests so save one for me - the cheque for £25 membership is in the post!
  12. Yeah, I like it. Interesting centre console - different to the little SatNav remote that I have and a few extra buttons. Can anyone enlighten me, please?
