  1. I cleaned the MAF as best i could and now its sorted. The power comes in from 5K now and theres no splutter. Cheers for the help.
  2. I topped it up now and this morning the whining had gone. Hopefully ive caught it before it did any damage. I used Donax TF fluid. Dexron and Donax are both made by shell and are both red so I thought why not.
  3. Hello, Ive noticed a whining noise coming from my power steering when i start the car in the morning from cold. I checked the fluid and its a bit low. What fluid should i use. Are there different grades and as i dont know what is in it at the moment is it safe to mix different types. Cheers
  4. Thanks for your help. They were dirty but I couldnt get them shiny from fear of breaking them but they are better. Ill give it a go tonight and see if it has helped. How much is a new MAF sensor out of interest?

  6. Hi Everyone. When im accelerating hard my car gives a smooth power delivery until about 5000 where it splutters a bit and the power drops off. It onlys lasts for about a second before it pulls through but it is annoying. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my car. I have changed the plugs, air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor (if what shown below is the MAF sensor and the arrow is what i have cleaned) and reset the ECU but its still there,. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers

  10. Ive just got a mesh grille to change the standard one but I cant get it off. Ive undone the three screws at the top but it seems to be fixed in the middle at the bottom. Are there any other bolts to remove? Thanks
  11. A motor factors in Swansea call Normag quoted me £32 + VAT for the ball joints. They said they could get them next day too from a jap parts specialist. Do you need a special tool to press them in and out. Ill get the ball joints changed and try to secure the brake disc guard and let you know if it goes away. The odd thing is it sounds like its coming from the back but only happens when i turn left so im well confused.
  12. It doesnt say first registered in the UK, just first registered. Which mine was in 1998 in Japan.
  13. The MOT did mention the bottom ball joints so they may need changing. It sounds like its coming from the back though. I found ball joints for £32 + VAT but thats without the arm. Does the arm have to be changed? The backing plate on the drivers side rear disc is loose to so ill check that first. Thanks for your help guys
  14. registered mine two weeks ago and the SVA certificate said it was 244g/km. I only paid £99 for six months.
  15. I did notice that plate was very close, maybe taking the wheel off and back on caused it to touch.

  17. No but im pretty sure it only started after i had the back tyres changed. I checked the rear pads and theres loads on them.
  18. Hello, Can anyone help me on this. I get a rubbing noise when I turn left. The noise doesnt happen when I turn right or when manouvering slowly. It sounds like a light metal on metal sound. I had a look at the wheels and the wheel arches but can t see anything worn. Any ideas? Cheers

    Ive changed the diff oil and the gearbox oil but still the same. the oil that came out was clean too.

    Yes its in gear when this happens, but it wasnt in gear when I jacked it up and spun the wheel.
  24. Hi Im having a problem with my altezza. Whenever I pull off and change gear in first and second when I let the clutch out i get a clunk. I noticed that when i turnt the driveshaft by hand theres a little play before it engages the drive shafts. Theres also a roaring noise if i let off going down hills. Going by what Markrs200 says with the have you got a diff post as below Look for the codes ao1a-no diff ao1b-have a diff ao2a-no diff ao2b-have a diff so if this code ends in B it means u have a diff Mine ends in a b so I should have one but when I jack both wheels and spin one the other doesnt turn. Have I got a problem with my LSD or havent i got one. Cheers
  25. Ive had a hunt around and found bottom ball joints for £32.50+VAT each and 4 KYB shocks for £105+VAT so looking at it the prices arent that good. I was told that for the SVA only the ride height has to be the same and with adjustable suspension it can just be wound up to the right height.
