  1. Yes, take your point and I must admit after doing a bit more research and given the condition of the rest of the car I may as well get the pukka parts, unless something radical happens and I can't see that. Mine has only done 62k miles but is fairly mint considering it's an '03 - it would be silly to spoil it. I have used Lexus parts for belts, brakes, discs, radiator etc so why not the exhaust. Thanks for all your inputs.
  2. I do appreciate this post John. Thanks Brian
  3. Looks like I am limited to the standard or stainless. Automotive only have one side. 😞 So looked at a stainless provider on the wirral ( not really wanting to drive over to leeds to see Banksy ) and came across powerflow that seem to do the job. Powerflow / Cybox in Bromborough - anyone used them? Heard anything good or Bad ? Thanks BJ430
  4. Here's the surprise. I am getting quotes of approx £300 for the back boxes replcement in stainless and the online automotive are almost as much. Everyday's a schoolday - I have to establish any constraints yet with the stainless mufflers. I am assuming that CO2 and NOX will be the same for the MOT etc
  5. I have made an enquiry with Banksy. I have also discovered these on the bay of fools : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323054962829 The standard back box is £334 and these are £138 - are the lexus standard parts just overpriced?. Makes you wonder on quality and exhaust back pressure variance from the standard. Anyone come across/used these parts ??? BJ430
  6. My MKll back mufflers and stainless Y piece will need replacing in a while and I wondered if anyone had got any experience of custom or non original exhaust from a good source - I am around cheshire. TIA BJ430
  7. sure do :-) yours is 79.9mm and 48teeth http://www.reluctorrings.com/cars/lexus more expensive than others on the bay but good quality Note for others - Front and rear rings are DIFFERENT
  8. That site looks a bit error prone to me. I got a ring separately when I found out what the shaft would cost and then my dealer mechanic fitted the ring for me. I tried several ebay sites that just sent me toyota stuff which didn't fit.....SIgh !! and if the price is less that 20 I would have doubts about the quality. Front rings are available for £20 from Lexus as a standard part. Rear rings are a separate one off from and engineering shop. You can order the shield from lexus as a part but care must be taken to retain the old shim for the shaft when replacing the ring. About 150 fitted as opposed to 900 + for the shaft replacement. I am very happy with the solution. B
  9. Chances are the MOT wont pick it up if there are no warning lights - this fault is caused by the teeth wearing down on the ABS Sensor/reluctor rings or a dicky sensor - they will need replacing whichever it is. This has just happened on my GS430 on the rear (both sides) caused by a warped deflector plate grinding down the sensor ring. Not happy only done 50k B
  10. Thanks for this Pepe - I shall search and find Maddugo's thread. Thanks for the replies. Brian
  11. Hi All, Has anyone had any good or bad experiences using silicone lube or wax lube when doing the maintenance clean etc on the electric windows glass, guides?? Your experiences/opinions would be welcome. Regards Brian
  12. I just had to replace my battery on the 03 GS after ten and a half years. It was the Panasonic. Not bad huh ! Brian
  13. I have had 3 GS430's and 3 GS300 and they have all been superb drives and ultra reliable - I had them all from new BTW. My current one is on a '53 with 48k miles and I have just had the belts done. As with any car though you are buying the seller. Most people will treat their cars well in this part of the market though. Enjoy B
  14. Just for info - this is a "user configurable option" with the computer plugged in at your local dealer - It can be set to do it or not. On the later cars it is not and 'elf and safety means it has been stopped on the "close" option as I understand it. Regards B
  15. I am on my sixth GS and my 3rd 430. I have had one rear number plate bulb blow and one lamda sensor go (when a d***head mechanic did a spanner slide up the exhaust at MOT time) on my present car. Lexus did replace the wheelset at 4.5 years of age - which I was pleased with. They are quick, OK in the wet but you need to be aware. I used to do 30-40k p.a. and really give it some hammer across the cross penine roads and at night on motorways. I am no longer doing the big miles but wouldn't swap it for a big clock. I understand that the post 2005 build quality is not quite as good as the pre 2005. You will love it and at the speed limit at 2500 rpm it can be a most relaxing drive as well. I am averaging on short journeys about 23 mpg. Regards..........B
