  1. Agree with the car jacking plan to let them take it. Disagree with it being pointless trying to preempt theft with alittle obstacle course. Anyone who pays 30k+ for a car today, only to have it stolen in 18months time is going to be about 8-10k short of what it will take to replace it when the insurance cheque finally lands on the mat. There is gap insurance but how many of you have it?
  2. [quote It might only take them 30 seconds to get by it but if the car beside doesn't have one which one do you think they will go for. 30 seonds seems like it would be an eternity sat in some unknown guys car when you aint supposed to be there for sure. So taking the lexus parked next to it would be the obvious choice except for how often do you see two same model lexus parked next to each other. The relative rarity of the IS250 was one of the reasons I ever went to have a look at them in the first place. Anyone using this level of sofistication is not your joyriding/ need to get home pond scum type. These are pros who steal to order to exact colour and spec. Visible anti theft just tells them which technique they are gonna need to use once inside. What will make them give up(this time) is not knowing what/where/how to overcome your covert (hidden kill switches etc) security. The pro that try and fail today will have logged your car as a "lift only" car for next time. Dont know any of this for sure but I believe the pros do keep records of where potential target cars are regularly parked, so why wouldnt they note which cars have proved problematic to take using conventional model specific theft technique.
  3. what would be the approx cost of the complete kit. I still would have to get it fitted ( unless its really straight forward) as im not confident I wouldnt bodge it There will be 4 of us traveliing(2 kids) so might be able to bring the whole thing back. They come pre painted right? The choice is yours :) http://www.l-tunedparts.com/model/struct.p...mp;model_id=133 thanks for that. A good site. Did you fit your kit yourself? Did you have to drill/ cut stuff?
  4. Tango did you bring yours back in the cabin or in the hold. Will be in States this summer, If its a viable option to do it that way then wa hay. Would hate to get to airport and have a nasty surprise a la " sorry buddy" You cannot put it in the cabin because it comes in a box that's approximately 72""x17"x7". Brought it back in the hold. You'll need to reinforce the box to stop it being crushed. I used extra cardboard taped inside and also taped all the joints up. I checked the BA size limit before I bought it, and it's something like 90" x 30" x 12" (a lot bigger than the box anyway). Need to bring the OEM sides back next trip...they're referred to as 'side mudguards'. They're wider than the originals they replace so perhaps they'll stop some of the crap that splashes up the doors. what would be the approx cost of the complete kit. 7. [quote name='Tango' date='May 19 2007, 09:47 PM' post='439183' When I called into Lexus Bristol a couple of weeks ago I was complimented on my non-OEM rims and then shown the new OEM optional wheels they now have available, including 19" diameter alloys. Thats sounds interesting. . Did a quick google but found nothing about new OEM alloys. What did you think of the new rims. 19" OEMs might be worth a look, asumming I can fit them without invalidating warranty.
  8. I had a very similar conversation with Lexus Derby last week. I was enquiring about the cost of the bara??? alloys. I wanted to have them supplied on the car when its delivered in sept. I figured since the standard 17" alloys on the car, were a part of the price I agreed to pay,If I upgraded to the 18" alloys to be delivered on the car I should be able to save some £££ on the £1250 cost of the upgrade. Dealer said that this price accomadated for cost of standard rims because I would not have to buy tyres so no reduction sorry
  9. The stealership always pushes the Supaguard treatment...use the search facility for 'Supaguard' on this forum for all the posts. It's not worth the money in my opinion after having it done originally on my IS200 Sport. You can purchase the same chemicals and have enough to protect your bodywork and fabrics for longer for less than £50. The other option is to visit the Autopia website http://www.autopia.org/ but you may end up catching the detailing bug...so don't say you were not warned :D [/quote Definetly will check those out . tx tango
  10. Congrats on your purchase. I ordered an is250 last week. Wont get it till september(57 plate) One question I have is the dealer is pushing a polymer coating for exterior and some kind of fabric guard on interior. Did any of you order this and would you reccomend it. Its £500 too.
