I prefer the design of Rado, Omega or Tag Hauer more than the Rolex, I think Rolex is overpriced too. Saying that other three makers I mentioned above are quite expensive too!

It was a case I never had one. Overated yes. However the residuals (depending on model) goes up in price rather than my old Tag - The Omega Speedmaster has also gone up, but I guess it was Ltd Edition. I sold the Box for £80 lol. Thats how valuable they are on the open market.

However my travelling watch will always be the Casio G Shock Mudmaster - Solar powered reserves, Atomic clock adjustment and about every other feature you can imagine. Love it

  2. I also have a Rolex Explorer 2 purchased new in 2009 - Broke in 2012 when I was changing the time.  Rolex UK told me to do one and wanted me to "service" it for £480. Its a watch I hardly wear as G shocks are my daily goto's. I wrote to Rolex Geneva and a week later I had a phonecall from Rolex UK. They arranged a courier fixed and cleaned it and returned it back in a week. I "did" have a Tag Heuer Chronograph and the special edition Schumacher Omega Speedmaster but was burgled 😞 Hence the replacement was the Rolex. To be honest, I miss those 2 rather than the Explorer 😄

When you used it on the drain tube and you say it spewed out, do you mean after you finished spraying it in or while you where spraying it in? I take it the spewing only came out of the drain tube?

For vent use, did any of the liquid spill out into the cabin area? That was the one thing I was concerned about and was happier to find out that I could just spray it into the condenser via the drain tube.

As the drain pipe had a little bend the dispenser can only go up a certain distance and yes it did drip out as I was applying it this was done on my 4 post ramp so I don't think I could have done any better. For the vents it will seep out through some parts of the dash, you'll see it as its just like streaks, just wipe off with a damp cloth. I find this "foam" like cleanser is a little better than the aerosol "bomb" I used to use.

  4. I have this and tried the drain tube, its under the car nearer to the passenger side of the subframe. However it'll spew out and using them direct and deep in the airvents worked for me. However, once the foam subsides it turns to liquid so keep an eye out on lower crevices and it does weep out. So give it a wipe with a damp cloth.

Well first of all, Jason hadn't highlighted the process when my post went up, but it is much as I thought.

I agree that "new" should mean "new" but I suppose the crux of the matter is partly in the semantics and partly in the pricing.

I would expect a totally 'new' pack to be much more expensive than a reconditioned one. After all, as Jason says, the wiring looms, the carcass and plastic cell casings can all be reused as long as they aren't damaged.

I reckon that if you're paying about two grand you can say it's a recon, with a genuinely brand new one being double that but that's only my opinion; I have no idea about pricing of these things at all.

My point is that I don't know whether dealers disclose that the pack is reconditioned. I have had a few customers (yes I am involved in the trade) that they've had brand new packs from Honda (1st Gen Civic IMA) and wasn't told or explained why they wanted the old pack back and the 'new' one installed and fitted for £1800 was reconditioned hence my conversation with my friend at Honda UK to verify this as my customer was absolutely certain the whole pack was entirely brand new, with new cells direct from Panasonic etc.

I had my Samsung phone Battery replaced by an official service centre. They made it very clear that the Battery is reconditioned so that I know what I'm paying for (£130) is acceptable. So I'm wondering when Jason purchased the pack, whether the parts dept explained clearly what he was purchasing unlike Honda (without explaining)

  6. Some people including me, would think a "new" pack is a totally new manufactured from ground up as if it were installed on a production car.

I'm not debating about how the cells are "remanufactured" but Jason has highlighted quite in depth what a "new" hybrid pack from a dealer consists of thats all.

I'm not sure it makes a difference really.

I would think that being responsible companies the exchange programme is more to do with safe (both environmentally and electrically) dismantling and disposal.

Batteries work via chemical reactions. Once the chemistry ceases to work, how would you 'recondition' a battery other than by replacing the chemicals and once you've done that, don't you have a 'brand new' battery anyway?

    Hi all,

I’m starting to tire of the visibility issues caused by the is300’s inclination to hold condensation on the rear screen overnight. From other posts seems like a common complaint solved in transit by constantly running the AC. There are no obvious signs of water ingress around rear doors or boot, so appears to be just general moisture retention. I’d like to minimise the impact first thing, so looking for somewhere suitable to house some silica pouches. Theory is they absorb the moisture whilst vehicle is stationary, then get regenerated by the AC when car is in operation.

Is anyone aware of what is under the plastic grille shown and how to get it off without damaging clips? I’m hoping there is some space to hide the pouches under here to see if they are effective.

    thanks!

Don't attempt to pry off the grille as they have plastic pegs that are sonic welded. My car literally had one break and wasn't sitting flush and rattles, so I had to repair it by taking it out. That means, side bolsters out, bench seat out, seats down, plastic trims behind the seat out, srs curtain trims out and THEN the shelf lifts out!

OK now I get it..  Thought did come to my mind however by the time I've been to the cabinet, unlocked the door with 2 locks, find which cartridge to use, load up, go out the house.. They'd be long gone 😂 and yes I would be arrested. I had an off the cuff chat with my FEO and most certainly will lose my guns and licence and maybe a record for protecting your own property..

  12. My retired neighbour who lives down my road has a 63 plate CT and a few nights ago a black Audi A3 (S3 or RS3) with 3 guys, pulled up and jacked up his car. Alarm was blaring hence I had a look outside to see whats going on. My neighbour heard the alarm and called the police, and he was shouting at the 3 guys but it didn't deter them. In fact the one that was keeping watch armed with a hammer, according to him spoke in a eastern european accent and told him to back off while his accomplices cut the cat off. All done in sub 2 mins by the time I was STILL asking for the rozzers via 999 🥺 Really feel for my neighbour didn't have recovery so I used my Lexus roadside assist to help him get the motor recovered to the dealer. Its like the wild west out there! they aren't "afraid" of anything these days.
