  1. The only timing chains I've replaced were cars that has been run low on oil which in turn "stretches" the chain. If your oil changes are regular and levels checked. I wouldn't worry about it. It'll be obvious also as they will rattle against the guides and quite prominent. Not a cheap job as I would recommend to replace the chain, guides and tensioner. Of course if something catastrophic happens to the valve train components its hard to predict. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it

Okay, thank you very much for that. I'm looking to install a dash cam on my vehicle and needed to know in order to get the right "add a fuse" as shown in this Amazon Link:

P/Outlet No.1 is a 15A and will only be energised when the ignition is on - it's for the cig lighter/power outlet.

Why not buy yourself a cheap little multimeter to check and make sure though? They're great little gadgets and come in handy for lots of things and once you've got it, it's there for future use too. Really inexpensive ones can be bought for under a tenner and then range upwards into hundreds of pounds.

    FLUKE hehehe

  4. I have the Blitz "Sma Thro" fitted to mine. Installation is pretty straight forward and it comes with a Toyota bracket to replace a redundant blank in the drivers control area. The module itself has around 10 throttle settings. I have mine set in "Sport" but the lowest setting for that sub category as I find the throttle is way too aggressive even for a spirited drive! Cost was around £140 inc tax via amazon Japan. Its a great little box as I now no longer need to flick the dial to sports mode to have the snappy response. Putting it into sport mode now the throttle response is even more snappier than before. In fact its too aggresive 🙂 There are "Auto" modes in which it can learn in time but I haven't played around with it yet. Downside, In its current installation you will need to push the button to activate it everytime you start the car, there is an optional harness that it comes on regardless, however I'm happy with the current setup.

It doesn't increase BHP, 0-60 times etc however the throttle response is alot crisper and I find sometimes when approaching roundabouts the acceleration is simply not there. But this eradicates the problem for me.

Thanks for posting Andrew. One can only speak as one finds and sadly yours is one of an increasing number of Lexus Dealerships which are falling short of the bar. This will inevitably lead to customer dissatisfaction levels being reflected within published statistics.

The best thing one can do is complain in writing, first to the person who handed you the Bill, then also in writing to the Dealer Principal, then if necessary to Lexus UK Customer Services with a copy to the Dealer Principal. Upon conclusion do tell us.

There is an increasing number of Dealerships being acquired by large Motor Groups such as Jemca, Motorline, Inchcape, Vantage, RRG Steven Eagell and Listers and some of them also deal in other so called premium vehicles. There are few if any outstanding Dealerships amongst this lot, but fortunately there is still a number of small Dealerships, a number of which are Snows at Hedge End and Exeter, Montys at Sheffield,Hendy at Poole and so on. Hopefully these. approx 12 others and accredited Indies will blossom for the future.

Well I only complained about the sanitising surcharge as that for some reason really grinded my gears. I liaised with Lexus UK and they have no jurisdiction with what their dealer network is doing with this. They had a quiet word with the service manager and he actually called me.. Not to waiver the tenner but to antagonise me more how Jemca has invested in COVID safe measures and the cost needs to be passed on to customers. I challenged that fact that Jemca Hendon doesn't charge and there was a stunned silence.. I duly cancelled the service booking and he said fine.. I wasn't expecting a buttkiss but it sounded like that branch is hitting their KPI targets so wasn't bothered.. 🙄 Customer service satisfaction is definately not one them though..

  6. Being a first time Lexus owner since I've had like 6 Hondas previously. Bought my IS300H at Jemca Croydon. The handover was a bit anti-climatic - The glitzy handover bay was empty but my car was outside on the forecourt - whatever!  A few months passed and I was hoovering the car out when I noticed that one of the rear car mats was odd. Later to be discovered that it was from another model 🥺- So I bit the bullet a bought a new set from Lexus Parts Direct.

Subsequently, Jemca Reading performed 2 services so far, First time was the "biggy"  and being an LOC Gold Member, the discount was refused as I was fed a story that the discount applies for any ADDITIONAL work only. So I paid the full 700 odd. A few months down the line as my key has a carbon fibre "clamshell" protector with a Lexus badge on it, I noticed that the badge was missing and used my phone camera to zoom into the empty recess where the badge once was. It was obvious that someone used a pick tool to prize out the little badge! I know for a fact I didn't lose it as I normally use my card key and the supplied keys are kept in a drawer. The only time it was out was during service. Again whatever!..

2nd time round it was an intermediate service and they did acknowledge the discount but my membership expired lol. Third time round which was in June this year, they wanted to charge me £12 for sanitising my car. As the service was a quoted £500 I asked if this could be thrown in. They refused. I also refused to book the service in.

The Lexus service network normally  I could count how many dealers around me with one hand. However they have now started to transform Toyota garages to be Lexus approved. So to my surprise I found "Lexus" Hayes which is literally 7 miles down the road compared to Reading which was 30. Service was "ok" they are still trying to get to grips with the Lexus service system as I was told its slightly different to the Toyota (Not diagnostic) system for updating service records etc but overall its generally a good service from them. The premises is service/maintenance only so its not glamourous what a Lexus dealer normally is but at the end of the day I went in to get the car sorted. They also applied a 12.5% discount also without even seeing my newly renewed LOC Card 😬

Some people rave how great Jemca Reading is, but my personal journey as a customer, I wasn't impressed. Receptionist didn't acknowledge me when I walked in on both occasions The second service was a Saturday and she was on her phone smiling while I was still "floating' around for 10 minutes trying to get my car in 🥺🥺, coffee machine was broken on BOTH occasions.

  7. From my perspective given your description..

1: As Jason above has pointed out, it could be the wiper relay. Worth taking it out and giving the pins a clean whether theres corrosion, if not joy I guess replace it and see.

2: Sounds like the bulb is knackered. If you fancy doing it yourself its pretty easy to take the bulb out. I would swap sides on the bulb to see whether the ballast is ok or not. If the bulb is shot, then "upgrade" to Osram Xenarc Laser bulbs. Very good upgrade and road legal.

    3. Fog light problem: Check the fuse first (not sure whether its in the cabin or engine bay fuse box) But I think its the engine bay one. If all good, and you said the model is an F Sport, they are LED driving lamps. Probably have to replace the whole unit or check the connections behind it. Again, try to swap sides to eliminate any wiring or electrical faults.

Is it recommended to clean these sensors proactively and regularly?

My understanding is that a dirty sensor can impact fuel economy.

No harm in giving it a gentle clean. I normally use brake cleaner to give it a little blast. However, its a little filament and if you don't think its dirty then don't bother cleaning it. One thing to do clean though, is the cabin temp sensor which is hidden behind little slots by your steering wheel, try to get a vac on it to suck the dust out. Does wonders for your auto climate 🙂

  9. I have a feeling that they will have a "specialist" come repair it at a lowish cost for them. They would not replace the covers with new. My IS was under warranty for unusual wear given the mileage and they honoured it, but under extended warranty conditions its not covered. I would inspect it throughly and try to get them in writing does the repair have any guarantees at all. At least within that time frame you'll at least have some piece of mind. There are good aftermarket leather services that specialise in leather repair but from what I've seen they are workshop based and very few and far between. I very seriously doubt if Lexus would ship the car out to have repaired for a sale car. Anyway thats my assumption. I could be wrong, but having best friends in dealerships it seems the norm to use people like 'Chips Away" etc

Hi all and apologies if this has been discussed before. I'm a long time Lexus owner (currently own a CT) and looking to change to an IS300h. I've been looking at a couple of 2014 F Sports (one is a 14 and the other a 64 plate) and the two I have seen seen appear to have slightly different audio controls. Does anyone know if this was part of a minor change and, also, what should I expect across the car if there was a slight facelift then?

    Thanks! 🤥😋

Apologies for the daft emojis but my phone won't allow me to remove them!

Premium Nav - Only way to spot the difference is whether there is a rotary dial or the mouse type. If its mouse type more than likely to have premium navigation. If the on/off buttons are whiter than the standard silver buttons its probably got Mark Levinson audio, but you cannot miss it as the ML badge cleary says underneath it. 2017 onwards are official facelift and audio wise you have the bigger screen. and minor exterior changes
