  1. Surely to goodness this long running problem will have been sorted out on cars being manufactured now. It must be costing Lexus a fortune, though I suppose they claim it back from the manufacturer, however it is doing nothing for the brands reputation. Does it happen on other models in the range? Mini, going on 3 years old and 30,000 miles, not the slightest blemish. Experience with Audi A4, 7J x16 competition alloys over 9 years old, 100,000 miles, slight chips and scratches here and there but only slight bubbling around one valve.
  2. Thanks Anees, that's a lot easier, you're a lot cleverer than me. I haven't got a clue how to do that and even if you explained it I probably wouldn't understand.
  3. Thanks for feedback on this subject. For an interesting article on car insurance go to telegraph.co.uk, then to Motoring, then to Mr Money, then to "Looking for the cheapest insurance? Our resident penny-pincher names". Dated 30/06/2007
  4. btw, www.travel-spot.co.uk things (i have purchased some one week ago) are really bad manufactured (cheap-chinese-feelings) - actually i do recommend to buy the same thing in another place... even halfords is better. Thanks shapa, I bought them from Halfords but are pretty sure the supplier was "travel-spot" as their website address was on the instruction leaflet. Regarding the tatty ones you purchased, did they have fitting instructions for the IS 220/250?
  5. Apologise, should have created a new topic for this subject so here goes. IS 250SEL Auto. Ages 50+, retired, garaged overnight, 10yrs+ ncb, 10 yrs+ no convictions or accidents, 10,000 - 15,000 miles a year. Need minimum 90 days European cover. Info please.
  6. Two wrinklies, both 50+, retired, garaged overnight as are cars, over 10yrs ncb, no convictions/accidents over 10 years. 10,000 - 15000 miles a year. Whiter than white. What should we be paying? How much are you paying for your car Insurance?
  7. Radioshack shops ( used to be Tandy ) sell them, 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo lead, £2.99
  8. Fidgits correct. Go to www.travel-spot.co.uk This site tells you the legal requirements whilst driving on the continent. Got some beam adaptors from Halfords last year. The instructions, dated June 2006, detailed how to fit them to 100's of different cars. There were lots of Lexus models listed but not the IS 250. Perhaps it has been updated now.
  9. Sounds like you've had a load of trouble. most complaints about IS 250's seem to about the diesel models. Are you wishing you'd bought a petrol or a different make completely.
  10. Apologise to you too Steve ( West Mids), what does "don't have to put meaningful information in name etc " mean?
  11. Sorry Jamboo, forgive me, don't understand, what does, "you can register with typo's to stop spam when asked" mean?
  12. Corroding wheels, dashboard rattles and seemingly, dissatisfaction with dealerships! I was hoping to buy a car that was of exceptional build quality supplied buy a dealer who would treat me like I would treat someone spending 30k with me. One of the reasons I have gone cold on BMW is the lack of customer service, I had a test drive arranged and had to cancel because of an illness in the family which meant I would be away from home. I rang the salesman repeatedly, he did not return my calls left with reception and on his voicemail, I also e-mailed. I got a call at 6pm on the Friday night, the day before I was due to have the car asking me what time I would be at the garage. They haven't even been in touch since to fix up another date. Lexus, top of the customer satisfaction surveys, tell me, am I going to be dissappointed? On dealerships, is Bolton coming out on top of Manchester and Stockport?
  13. Keeps cropping up on the forum the recommendation to use drive the deal.co.uk. Lets say I've used them to buy a new Is and the car was supplied from a dealership 200 miles away. After a short time I encounter all sorts of problems, not wanting to travel 200 miles I go to my nearest dealer. What sort of a reception will I get. Anyone had this experience?
  14. Tesco sell a wheel brush, had one for a month and works a treat. Only £2.26.
  15. I'm new to the forum as I too am looking for a new car. What I have gleaned so far is, if you can afford it the IS250 Sel Auto with MM ( if you want it) is the one to go for. A simillar question was asked of one of the broadsheets motoring expert last Saturday, his reply was the 2.2 diesel with the Sport set of gear ratios - it's a good car with a great engine. The IS250 petrol has to be automatic, because the engine and six-speed manual box just don't feel right together.
  16. Should you complain? In a perfect world, yes. Are you being petty? Probably, you sound a bit like me, as the wife says, forget it, lifes too short. Don't get to a stage where you get stressed going to dealer, you may need an understanding ear some time in the future and don't want to be thought of as "that bloke who threw a wobbler over a couple of valve stems". Mini's come with shiny metal dust caps, only a week old when wife went shopping locally and came back with two missing. I took the other two off and put them on my bike replacing all four with black rubber ones. My daughter's a teacher, she has a mini and hers were nicked at school, apparently kids like the look of them on their bikes, like me.
  17. That's interesting info. on wheel cleaners niloc. Haven't heard that before, not doubting you but have you more info. we can refer to. Anyone else heard that? Had wife's mini Superguarded, came with pack of cleaning goodies including alloy wheel cleaner spray. Works a treat. which if what you say is correct, is not surprising. Thanks.
  18. Thanks NBLG, It's the headline price that's important to me. I ain't got no trade in!
  19. Hello again, next question. What discount should be achievable on a LS 250 SEL Auto, cash purchase, no trade in. Thanks, Exiled.
  20. Thanks for replies so far, looking forward to more feedback. Exiled.
  21. Ditto that! we've gone from Jag X-type to A3 3.2 DSG to Golf GTi MK5 and Boxster S to Lexus IS250 MM. The IS is simply an awesome motor to own and enjoy. on a trip into the heart of London last week it was faultless and i couldn't imagine a better car to be in. I don't mind admitting that i didn't really get the Lexus at first, but it gets under your skin pretty quickly. happy shopping :winky:
  22. Hello out there, New member in the very slow process of parting with 30K on a new car. Have found the clubs forums very interesting. Had an Audi A4, great car, did everything I wanted, now I fancy a change. Looking at BMW's, the more I look the less convinced I become. Saw Lexus ad on TV so went on internet and found your website, after reading your comments and wanting an automatic am interested in a 250 SEL Auto. Nearest dealerships are Manchester and Bolton, I know they are under the same management, what do you think about them? It's a bit too far to Stockport, Chester and Carlisle but not out of the question. Thanks.
