  2. having a similar problem with my altezza at the moment apparently try resetting the ecu. the car goes into self learn mode it might sort it?? as with the window rattle anf faulty auto button mines exactly the same if lower the drivers window about 1cm it stops the rattle not a fix but it stops the noise :-)

  5. im still stuck! I took the battery lead off last week (for about 10 mins) and since then the engine wont idle where it should. the needle bounces around 2000-2500 ive been told that the ecu is self learning and normally settles the idle within 5 mins but its been a week now. the car spent the day at my local garage yesterday the computer showed no faults and he cant fix it. i have noticed that if i remove the battery and reconnect it the car runs fine untill i switch off ignition and start it again. im thinking that there may be a blown fuse or something like that. ive trawled the internet for any problem similar but cant find anything.
  6. i disconnected the battery for a few mins two days ago, since then the car is idle at around 2500rmp... just been to my local garage and they say that the ecu goes into self learn mode and should sort itself out shortly after startup. it hasnt. the cars just been plugged into a computer that shows no faults and that the throttle is non adjustable. he cleaned out the throttle body but thats made nop difference...., he has advised that there is a way of resetting the idle by shorting some pins together but he wasnt sure wich ones.. any ideas greatly appreciated.

  8. i need to sell my altezza rs 200 and the key shell is a bit cracked and tatty ive searched ebay for the past few weeks and cant find one that matches mine. i only need the shell as the innards work fine! the key has two buttons, one for the doors and one for the trunk. they are on the side wich i think is different to the lexus one! any ideas where i can get one?

Sounds like air lock, have you checked how much water you have in ? yep all levels are ok! i think the garage i brought the car from may have topped everything up before i got the car so it may have happened then! anyone have any ideas how to clear it??? When the car is cold, start it up, take the rad cap off, put the heater on full/hot, when car/water gets hot, see if you can squeeze/pump any of the water pipes with your hand (keeping a look out for any belts, dont put you hand near then) to try and get any air out of the system, sometimes parking your car on a steep hill will do the same, sort of getting the air to the top. I dont know if the altezza has a point on the cooling system that you can bleed it also. excellent! ill give it a bash over the weekend thanks very much

  11. im hoping someone here has found a simple solution for this before when engine gets warm the heaters still stay cold!!! (perfect timimg being winter and that) there is a difference between dial set to cold and hot but its slight. i think there might be an air lock but im not too sure. when i start the car from cold and pull away theres a swooshy bubbling noise behind the ctr console for a couple of secs. opccasionally there is a nice smell of indian takeaway and the blowers warm up for a few mins. any ideas??

  14. i have just brought a 2001 altezza rs automatic it has the d/m shift and the display by the clocks showing that its in semi auto mode but i have no tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel! the steering wheel looks original with altezza imbedded in the leather and its half carbon fibre. i wondered if my car left the factory as a tiptronic and someone has changed the wheel or if its supposed to be like that??? cheers, Joe :
