  1. Why apologise, I often stay in a 5 star hotel and can afford to buy a luxury sedan, I just also like the freedom of the occasional caravan holiday.
  2. Maybe that's just because they don't make a tow bar for them ?
  3. Thinking of buying a 600H second hand of course but can't find anyone that can supply and fit a tow bar, any ideas in the north west area or indeed has anybody seen a tow bar fitted to one of these. Need it for my caravan.
  4. Steve2006 I believe you are right, I will check this out with the local man dealer.
  5. Good idea Spacewagon, anyone around Manchester with one I could compare with.
  6. I know I've visited this forum with this topic in the past but just wondered if there"s any fresh info about . OK, here we go, 2009 RX 400h 120,000 miles owned for about three years. I love this car it tows my caravan superbly and gives me circa 30 MPG ( without caravan ) and virtually does what it says on the tin apart from --- the steering wanders a lot, follows white lines and is very sensitive at lower speeds in respect of road feedback from grids, bumps or even road undulation as well as turning to follow road camber. however braking soft or hard on a flat surface is dead straight with no "pulling" either way. So far this is what i"ve had done to try and cure the problem. Following an MOT ( which suggested no worn linkage problems ) four new tyres fitted, balanced and pressurised, four wheel electronic tracking completed at a recommended garage by someone on this forum ( Drury Lane Garage, Manchester area ) who also checked the steering geometry, all done within the same week. Result: no change at all, everything still the same ! The garage said it was probably one of those models that has " sensitive steering" Now I"m not having this because if this was the case then surely this topic would have been discussed no end on these forums. So, may I ask any other owners of this Lexus model whether you"ve had similar problems to this and if so did you manage to cure it ? Or do you own the same models without steering problems which would suggest that this is only particular to my car. Also I would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas from other members of the forum, Thanks and here"s hoping. Phil M.
  7. Had mine 4 wheel tracked at Lexus last year, didn't make much difference I'm afraid. I'd have it done again at a specialist (tracking went well out after 8 thousand miles and scrubbed the fronts) if I could be certain it would cure it "cos it's a bit expensive if it doesn't do the trick.
  8. Got to take it back in 2 weeks for an alignment check so I'll discuss this with them , thanks
  9. Every thing as per Lexus rec. Tyres same as original make and size, 32 psi all round.
  10. My RX 400H wanders all over the place when on a white line, over a road repair or grid. no problem on a motorway and otherwise steers straight. Had 4 wheel tracking done by Lexus 8,000 miles ago, had front wheel alignment checked today, 7 degrees out causing tyre wear, had to have ball joint and link bushes renewed today as they had seized solid ? then tracking re-done' still wandering all over the place on any slightly bumpy surface. Anyone else experienced this, is it a common problem, any ideas Thanks Phil, Manchester.
  11. Strange, when I had my cam belt service done they said they would check my water pump at the same time and if there was any problem they would inform me and give me the option of having it replaced at the same time as the cam belt for £100 thereby saving me £300 should it go at a later date. I later received a phone call from the young lad that there was no problem with the water pump so replacement was not needed however ten minutes later he phoned again to tell me he"d made a mistake and it did need replacing, I felt he was under instructions but rather than take a chance I had the pump replaced. This was the same Lexus garage in Stockport that charged me £60 for a hybrid health check that should have been free ! Shall not be going back there again which is their customer loss through their incompetence ( or bad practice ? )
  12. Mike, ditto what Brian says. Very stable, I"ve never had any special bits put on mine for towing but i hear there are two types of grill badges, one open like mine ( lets a bit more air to the rad ) and a closed one. MPG i've found depends as much on head wind as weight, I've had as much as 24 MPG at 55 MPH with the wind following me and only 19 MPG into a headwind, once you go over 60 it changes for much worse as you may imagine. Overall I'm very happy with mine, it's really my best car yet. PHIL.
  13. Well, I phoned three north west Lexus dealers and they each confirmed that they would provide, free of charge, a hybrid health check and result printout which gives a further twelve month warranty on the battery if I had a basic "essential service" done at £179 ! I went and got my £60 back !
  14. Yea, I had a cambelt change with water pump replacement today plus essential minor service and they charged me £60 extra for a hybrid health check yet I've just seen that it should be free with a service ? ( cost me £726 altogether ) I was given a "positive health confirmation sheet" and told I now have 12 months warranty on the battery. However no papers to confirm this or terms and conditions were provided I'll check this out and post the results. Phil.
  15. OK I agree but the handbook info that I refer to says " fuel consumption for the last 30 minutes " and points to the chart on the consumption screen that gives figures in killowatts ? I can only think it's a misprint but I still don't understand what use is this to me. ( who's cut the front legs off your polar bear ) HA
  16. I've just had my recall done ( inverter assembly, 2009 RX400h ) It took half a day and they, Lexus , collected from my home and delivered it back. You say two day job ?
  17. 2009 Lexus 400h. Can anyone explain what the figures on the consumption screen really mean, I find the notes in the handbook confusing for instance " fuel consumption in the last 30 minutes " ( page 126 handbook ) does fuel mean petrol or electricity ? I'm thinking it's electricity in which case how does the information help me ? Also is it possible to change the indicator warning beep by a louder replacement unit as it's so quiet I can hardly hear it at the best of times and it's easy to leave an indicator on when it doesn't self-cancel . I know there is also a warning flasher but that's not always spotted when you're concentrating on driving. Phil. Manchester.
  18. Yes, even though mine is registered 2009 I checked on the link and it is subject to this recall. Can only guess it was actually made in 2008. Lexus Stockport have arranged to pick up and return the car home this month, good service eh? ( would they have informed me directly of the recall if I hadn't have checked through the link? I don't know but would like to think so )
  19. Just read Arjuna's comment that says he keeps the self levelling switched on in his 400h, I've got the same car,2009, where is the switch located ?
  20. Problem now sussed ( silly boy ) Checked well under inflated rear tyres, now tows as 'Luckduck' says However the car 'Tramlines' a bit and I think it probably needs tracking. Has anybody had this done on a RX400H without problems and where is the best place to go, Lexus?
