  1. That's why so many owners enhance and re-style the car. There are some very good examples of subtle changes transforming the look. It may be becoming a classic but the driving experience and overall enjoyment can be greatly improved by fixing some of the original flaws that Lexus either chose not to address at all or improved in the facelift model.
  2. I think 'butcher' was a poor choice of words.
  3. I use a Sprint-Booster V3 throttle controller. I wouldn't recommend anything that says it's a chip tuner. The only ECU tuning is that done by one of the 3 or 4 associated with All4swap. They can dial out the a lag and offer an enhanced map but unless the car has other physical mods I doubt it will make much difference.
  4. Already tracking it, nice one Glyn and there's no need for an apology. You might be surprised at just how many people enjoy watching a project evolve and understanding the thought behind the choices made, detailed maintenance, etc.
  5. If it's approved by Bob then it must be good.
  6. There are a few rusty examples for sale but it's still possible to find a decent one without breaking the bank as so many have been properly maintained.
  7. There is a nice big grommet below the battery tray. Remove the battery, remove the battery tray, remove the glove compartment and simply thread it through. The big adsog build thread has gone with the website it was on but there is a mini version with some pics here on page 3. SC430 Build thread
  8. Stuck height controllers don't throw a fault light on the RX in my experience but I think it's possible to read them with Techstream. When they break, they often raise the car in that corner but I had one fail on a Soarer that lowered it. It will be interesting to hear if the latest diagnosis proves to be correct.
  9. It has nothing to do with a small BMW, I think I bought it before the X1 came out. I didn't anticipate it but some X1 owners do seem to think the same way as Herbs, though they are rarely laughing. 🙄
  10. Haha I have X1 OUT not on a BMW. 🤣
  11. Yes all good here Al. Coventry is well within the southern half of England, LOC has a few sensible rules but it's not that formal. I too was shocked that the member from Gloucester appeared so far from home.
  12. I have two. They're just for fun. Herbs is spot on though as when it comes to cars, I have no sense whatsoever. 🤣
  13. Hi Al, good to hear from you. The South of France is okay I suppose but the Midlands is a hotter destination this year so all the serious SC sunseekers flocked to Coventry.
  14. Are they still guessing? I agree with Herbs and Piers, the tech should be able to test for a blocked line and the air compressor makes a distinctive, obvious and clearly audible whirring noise when it's working. It can be heard in the cabin, easily. Has the technician actually tested and ruled out a fault with the height controllers or the signal from them to the ECU?
  15. We really missed your subtle humour at the meet.🤣
  16. Yes please Paul, if you could air-brush out the damage to the front bumper and 4 stones off the owner, that would be great.👍
  17. Don't forget that LOC does have a build thread section to record your progress. I put a mini version of mine in there. We asked politely a few years ago and admin provided. It's a shame it isn't used a bit more, there are some very interesting builds in there, not least the high power big single turbo IS300.😎
  18. Great to see you Paul. We need to get a few more owners to post their Qs on here. I did my best to promote the idea. FB is okay for saying hello but it's no substitute for a forum with a decent knowledge base.
  19. Paul has third cat delete, a good X pipe, no resonators, big sports rear box and it sounds very nice with just a hint of rasp where I think the X pipe has the extra scavenging effect to improve the flow. I would not be surprised if Paul's car has an extra 5-10 bhp. Don't copy me unless you have a screw loose, deep pockets and a desperate need for more power. The PPE headers are a very expensive and difficult project for around 25-30 extra bhp, perhaps 40 with a decent tune to trim the fuel/air ratio at the top end. Until PPE offer a complete set for a left hand drive car, it will be difficult to find anyone brave enough to build the off side header, it requires a high degree of skill and the engine needs to be lifted off the mounts.
  20. Yes very well organised and a well chosen meeting point. Great to meet new and familiar owners and the guys and girls with the Soarers too. It should hopefully result in a few more regular contributors here. I haven't seen this special car in a very long time. Soarer 1UZ-FE 5.0 litre stroked and supercharged cabriolet.
  21. Up early, car not looking its best, as usual. 🤣 CEL cleared so leaving in 20 mins.
  22. Fell out with some good people over various things and seemed very keen to shut down the site after Chris had put so much time and effort into restoring it. There's a lot more to it but this is not the place.
  23. That's good....so if the compressor is working and the rear suspension is down, the left and right rear height controllers should confirm the low level and signal for air. The compressor pump should be whirring to supply the air until the rear reaches the correct height and then it will cut off. (which it isn't doing as the rear of the car remains low) If the compressor keeps pumping and the rear doesn't go 'up,' that would suggest an air leak. (no leak found) If the compressor doesn't run or switches off before the rear is raised to the correct level then the system isn't signalling for air - suggesting a height controller fault/electrical fault/air-sus ecu issue. (as the compressor works and there's no air leak, perhaps this is what the technicians should investigate next) From under the car, they might even be able to push or adjust the controller rods to see if it makes any difference. There are a few threads on the subject but I couldn't find a complete RX air-sus component diagram. Useful info from CL HC test and repair location and replacement of a height controller
  24. I couldn't make enough noise to stand in for you MrRCF but I suppose Paul could if I let him have the keys to the hifi.
  25. Looks very nice Ant.😎 I got off to a bad start yesterday with the appearance of an engine management light and then after making a poor job of leather cleaning, started cleaning the bodywork in the evening to discover a nice crack in the front bumper. It probably took a little nudge in a car park somewhere in the last few days and I hadn't noticed. I was planning to take time out today to make it look as pretty as possible but I've lost the will now. So do I patch it up this evening and 'limp' to Coventry to make up the numbers or stand in for Graham this year and park the GS460 waving a Scottish flag in the church car park? 🤣
