  1. Hi all, I have started having problems starting my IS in the evenings and some mornings just wondered if its a common fault/easy fix!? Through the summer it did it once every say 50 starts and turned over but didnt fire until you gave it some revs. I have been reading the forums and it seems this happens to a few people and its just one of thoes things. However for the last 3 days when I leave my house in the evening (garaged) it starts fine but when I leave the gf's house at 11 it will not start until the 3rd turn with revs. Is getting a bit embarrising! I have replaced the spark plugs and battery in the last 2000k, any help will be appreciated. Its going in for a service at Lexus may see what they say but am dreading a big repair bill!!
  2. Really? Mine were sent via DHL any you could track it on there website maybe worth a try if you have the number.
  3. Thats the only thing I thought it could be, however have been a wimp trying it as didnt want to break anything!! Will try it today and let ya know.
  4. Fitted them today, really fast delivery however I cant get one of the ballusts to work. The passenger side light comes on then cuts out. Must be me wiring it wrong but I cant see what I have done! Had a spare kit handy and tried another ballust, same thing happened but then I tried the other spare and it worked. I must be doing something really silly or I may have 2 faulty ballusts!?
  5. I got a can made up at the weekend, the garage was surprised it was just one colour i.e. he did not have to mix any shades, it is as Lenny said pure black!
  6. I know this comes up a lot but I have been looking around for a while now and seem to be getting no where! I want an exhaust that sounds beefy with a nice burble. So I think that rules the HKS Silent out!? However after watching clips of a Kazama 2 on youtube it sounds pretty good to me, the only doubt I have is the size of the exit pipe 4.5" which seems big to me! I quite like the OEM look and fear the exhaust may look too big. Are there any exhausts I am missing with a smaller rear tip that offer the same quality/ noise!?
  7. Ok ive purchase a set this morning, will let you now if there any good!!
  8. I used a cable polisher - Meguire G220, cannot recommend it enough is a fab machine! Merzerna is an abrasive, a medium cut polish. Hate the polish's that fill because a couple of washes down the line all the marks are back!! I was thinking about gettin a polisher. Just one question,do you see marks left by the polisher when the sun shines on the car? have seen some cars with a terrible finish once they have been machine polished. Would like to get rid of some swirl marks, but would not like to make a mess of my car. Cheers Adrian No you dont see swirl marks with a random orbital buffer. The car had previously been machine buffed really badly with a rotary buffer and looked awful covered in swirls. It is so hard to do any damage with the Megs G220 with the right pad and polish. If you apply too much pressure it does not rotate so you do not burn the paint. It takes a bit of practice, im learning all the time. Pretty much fool proof, get one!!

  10. I saw these and they kit looks identical to the one I had on my previous car which i forked out £90 for a year ago and proved to be very good! Would you pay £80-100 for a kit or try the kit below? Has anyone brought a set from here? Any comments on the quality? HID KIT £38 Delivered!
  11. Thought it was about time I posted some pictures up, gave her a good clean took most of Sunday. Am pleased with the results. For those interested I clay bared the whole car with the aid of Sonus detailer spray, used one coat of Merzerna intensive polish mixed with a bit of Merzerna final finish. Then went over with Chemical Guys wet look gloss finish and finished with Merguires Carnauba Wax to seal it all in. Also painted the calipers last weekend, just need to sort out my mullered alloys, there a state (previous owner I may add)!! If anyone is selling any alloys pm me as am on the hunt; that goes for exhausts to! Think im catching the modding bug!!
  12. Wicked Wheels (http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk) have just quoted me £95 a wheel to referb. They are the standard 17" Lexus 5 spoke alloys. Does this seem about right? I found that most referb places could not restore them to their original diamond cut finish however this place can.
  13. I changed mine last weekend. Have never done it before just went for it with a rachet set! Was very easy would recommend doing it yourself!
  14. got any pics, whats the sound like on at speed ie motorway Where did you get it from Rolex? Ive found a clip on youtube of the Kazama 2 which i think sounds really good: I would order one now but think it looks a bit too big at 4.5"?? Does anyone know of any other exhaust that sounds similar but with a smaller tail pipe say 4"?
  15. Jamie, You mind me asking how much your insurance is? I think im being robbed! Im 20, 21 later this year!
  16. Not as good as yours! mines £1400 for an IS200 :s

  18. Ive just had mine done, Lexus said 100k or 6 years on the phone. Got it done for peace of mind has only done 40K but is a 51 plate. Heres a couple of pics of the belt - pleased I got it done now dont think it would have lasted another 60K!!!
  19. Had the same issue last weekend, went into Halfords thinking a batterys a battery so Halfords must be cheaper than the Lexus dealership. Turned out I saved myself a few quid I think I paid £63 from Lexus and Halfords wanted £89.99!!! Plus the Lexus one looks better in my opinion - covered in Toyota stickers though :P.
  20. Just if anyone is interested I got a quote for £262 in total from another garage I have always used and trusted. But this includes the belt kit instead of just cambelt i.e pretensioners etc, thought it would be best to change these at the same time - the kit they quoted was £109.52 and labour at 3 hours.
  21. Thanks Jack, I gave them a call and its £130 fully fitted inclusive of VAT so quite a saving! Think I will go with that!
  22. Tony, I forgot to ask if they did any discount for Gold members? Am tempted to join. If you could let me know if you find a better deal it would be appreciated. Regards Dave
  23. Hi all, Ive just got my Lexus IS200, after looking through all the service history realise it needs its cambelt changing. The Lexus dealership at Ipswich quoted £350 inclusive of VAT. Does anyone think thats a bit excessive? Do you think it would be worth going to a private garage? Thanks Dave
