  1. Where did I say 60 mph was "normal" Motorway Speed? I said that's the speed we prefer to use on the Motorway as it doesn't eat into the range much and keeps us comfortably ready to overtake trucks if needed, we find it far more relaxing. The average winter temperature in the UK is around 8C so well above the usual Winter temps quoted in range calculations, we are very lucky being in the UK as we get neither extremes (usually 😄) . I have NEVER seen less than 3.2 mp/kw journey average in any conditions, what EV do you have an Audi? I was giving my honest experiences with our i3, if you read that I said all EVs can do 350+ miles your reading the wrong thread!
  2. As I said, if you want them to…….normal running around in our EV gets us generally an average of 3.4 Mp/kw, on a Motorway at a genuine 60 mph we get 4.6 Mp/kw which is give or take 25% more range.
  3. The Tesla LR models have been doing that range, if you want them to. For considerably less money.
  4. I wouldn’t have thought so, there must be quite an unladen weight difference between the two models due to battery/motor etc.
  5. Or is it?
  6. Not that simple, well not sure it is….back in the early eighties my best mate was working in France weld testing on oil rigs, plenty of money so he went to (if I remember correctly) Norway and bought a BMW 3 series cabriolet brand new as it was for export the tax was crazy cheap, he used it in France for a year then his contract ended so brought it home until he found out there was a time limit he could keep it on the road without re-registering it and paying the import taxes, he tucked it away in his Dads garage on Foulness Island as it was remote and mostly restricted to the public (his Dad was a scientist on weapons) and it stayed there while he looked for another contract, it didn’t work as his Dad was mowing the lawn one day with the garage doors open and who should drive by but good old HMRC officers doing a security sweep (it was a popular place for drugs landings being remote) , he had to pay the import duties and a massive fine, and then they seized the vehicle until he exported it back to France. He sold it unsurprisingly.
  7. If you remember some auto manufacturers said that about Brexit as well.
  8. You're talking about the town, yes?😳
  9. Even if you are a staunch unbeliever it’s worth a watch just for the nice wife and funny interaction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hcyeWt9PG8
  10. I saw an interesting video article yesterday, a real one not a journalist’s hour on the keyboard, made by a genuine user who had a air to air HP (the most efficient) installed with four heating/ air conditioning units in the home last year, it cost in total £7500 including everything. Best thing about it was his very amusing Italian wife who wouldn’t let him get a word in edgeways, funny but very informative and TRUE.
  11. It’s good to keep things going. As long as they don’t spew all that Co2,CO,NOx and PMs outside the local school/nursery etc etc 😉 Best to keep all that for the scrubbers at the power stations, cheer up Malc no one’s taking your V8 away.
  12. Yes a wonderful analogy 🙄
  13. You have it as correct as it appears presently. we installed a new gas boiler two years ago and it is compatible with hydrogen conversion as it stands, not that I believe it will happen anytime soon, maybe just maybe by 2030 who knows? The odd thing about people who say even a 10% hydrogen mix will cause problems and leaks forget that the old town/coal gas which used to flow through the old pipe work was around 50% hydrogen back then, I know we had leaks but…..
  14. I don’t see that being correct tbh, after all a heat pump is just a big fridge running in reverse (to put it simply) and I really don’t believe that even running a six or seven American fridge freezers (worst case maybe?) for a year is going to cost anywhere near £30K. Heat pumps work well when they are the correct size for the building, the plumbing for the heating is designed from scratch, and most importantly the building needs to be of a very high thermal insulation, all these together and a heat pump is great, unfortunately there are too many cowboy (and big builders) who are installing them with little knowledge of what is really required. And converting an existing boilered heating system to a HP is fraught with problems, and very unlikely to work as it should. If I were building again from scratch I would install a HP, but it ain’t cheap although reasonably cost effective on a new build.
  15. If course there are, but most probably won’t be it’s just a matter of numbers.
  16. And if you read my posts both variables are covered and acknowledged but just because we are in a Lexus forum you can’t deny there can be some very neglected and poorly maintained examples as well, especially as the age of the vehicle rises.
  17. The RX300 we used to own was brilliant up until we sold it, but it was about twelve years old when we sold it and was beginning to get a bit rusty around the rear subframe and components even then, if we had kept it until now I am sure it would be nearing banger material by now tbh, no matter how good originally.
  18. I did say “almost banger material”
  19. Sorry no disrespect intended, it’s just even the newest now will be getting on in years and mileage, and paying through the nose for a low mileage 10 year old car seems a bit of a waste unless it’s a real hard desire. There seem to be quite a few of each description on something like Autotrader, but I do know a cherished and looked after vehicle can be as good as new to the owner.
  20. The idea is to use the OHLE purely on Motorway/Autobahn and the truck has battery back up for the short journeys to delivery locations. I believe the answer to heavy trucks will be Hydrogen…..eventually, just as we have buses now locally purely on CNG.
  21. Never had the chance to buy a SC430 but alway thought we’d like one…..too late now I think most would be almost banger material?

  23. Just like a dealer demonstrator would be with different occupants 😉 as you say, let’s leave it there 😄
  24. You read my mind 👍
