  1. John. Only the one trial on an Osprey 250Kw. If you look at the second page on this website it lists the charge rate for each 1% of battery state so you can see the rate you should get at say 50% and how long it will take to get a wanted %. Someone must have spent hours working this out as they have done it for most EV. I treat this as a bible as it was bang on when I did the rapid charge. See the time it takes above 80% which is why all manufacturers quote time only to 80% https://evkx.net/models/lexus/rz/rz_450e/chargingcurve/
  2. I calmed my range anxiety by proving the range indicated is if anything pessimistic. I then put the aircon on full blast and I then know that is the expected minimum. Take 30% off and look for a Rapid charger in that area. Reassure yourself by the fact that 10% - 80% takes the time for a cuppa and then you have circa 200 miles. I did notice yesterday that the front seats go down to horizontal to lie on - probably for when you want to charge to 100% !
  3. John - that’s unfortunate as Lexus would have claimed the subsidy and your address can only have one. That said, as the cabling will all be up to capacity you’ll only need a new box. BUT the Hypervolt box is £ 660 plus fitting. As the Pod Point was ‘dumb’ I did a lot of research before buying the Hypervolt and it seemed to come out as one of the best for the App / data control. Good luck with the 200 mile drive - the charging curve shows if you charge when the battery is over 50% it takes an age. The last 20% I think takes as long as the 10 - 80% so nerves of steel required !
  4. All premiums are going up. I’ve read reports that costs of repairs have rocketed due to increase / lack of spares. Add in the CanBus thefts and very high used prices for replacement costs of stolen cars and it’s easy to see why premiums are only going one way. The other thing is that some donkey in the Government thought it a good idea to ban cheaper introductory / tempter rates to attract new customers - that why whilst shopping around may save a little bit, the days of moving for a big discount has been brought to an end - completion now seems to be coverage offered. I have just part exed my Range Rover - NFU refuse to insure any RR younger than 5 years and other insurers also have embargo’s against them. I fear the RX may be going the same way with all the CanBus thefts.
  5. John - I use Zap Map and it gives up to the minute availability of chargers, when they were last used or out of service. BP Pulse seem to have a lot out of service but they’re not Rapid ones. Looking at the Rapid chargers from Osprey, IONITY, & Instavolt, Gridserve and Shell all seem to have mostly in service Rapid chargers. All are expensive - range from about 65p to 80p per Kw instead of 34p soon to be 30p at home. But even 80p is still in line with petrol. Say 10% - 80% is 70% x 64kw x 80p for say 190 miles = 27p / mile. SUV (doing 0-60 in 5s) say 30 mpg = 23p / mile. I have seen Tesla have opened up some of their charging network to non-Teslas. I haven’t looked into which one in the UK or the cost of an adaptor to fit their hyper chargers. Which charger did you go with at home. I don’t have 3 phase so limited to 7kw - it was my second charger and went with a Hypervolt with a 7m tethered cable, seems to be excellent and does everything needed and has a very reliable App. I have had this over a year. My previous Pod Point was only 3.5Kw and failed after 5 years - no complaint as the government subsidy meant I paid £ 100 for it !
  6. John - range is remaining accurate and about the same as before. As I am writing this the car is at 82% charged and 192 or 155. I tried the radiant heater yesterday - did seem to be efficient and with the heated seat was definitely warm enough. No idea what it will be like in -5c. No new niggles. I’m in exchanges with Customer Service on the second key, locking wheel nut, whether the Keyless is UWB, ‘canbus theft deterrent plate and the Remote Park. Really odd today - Customer Service said the Remote Parking hardware was not fitted - I won’t bore you with their explanation. BUT, tried the Advance Park for the first time today and fiddled about when an image came up asking to select from arrows pointing forward or back. I selected forward and the screen came up saying - Remote Park, exit the vehicle with the key and use the App to control the car (or something like that). I have asked CS if this means the car does have the hardware but it’s the App that needs developing - hopefully that is correct so it could just be a download of the updated Lexus Link App. Similarly the web says the App should have Send To Car (destinations) but it isn’t in the App. On the good news front, I used Sport mode today - I thought it definitely made the car feel ‘tighter’ and ‘sporty’ - didn’t seem to diminish the range more than Normal. I don’t understand the reviewers criticisms of having to delve deep into menus to change the mode - there is a shortcut screen with it on which is accessed by an icon on the main screen. There are loads of shortcuts on there but I can’t find a way to personalise them - yet. The difference between 1 and 4 brake regen is very noticeable. I’m having fun trying to judge it - little things ……… Similarly, the door opening still puts a smile on my face each time I get in I normally use Spotify but thought I would try much higher definition tracks from Apple Music and Tidal. In my Velar it didn’t seem to make much difference on the Meridian 3D 14 speaker system but it certainly did on the Mark Levison ! I’ve cancelled Spotify. Hope everything remains on track for you collecting your car next week.
  7. John - let’s hope you are right. I had a quick look and Toyota said the original buffer was 8% and they were going to reduce that after criticisms. The RZ buffer is 72kw - 64kw so over 10%. If they were to halve it then the unheated range increases to about 240
  8. With the ‘extended’ set on then the car can stop for up to 3 minutes and restart automatically when the car in front moves off. My previous BMW wouldn’t move off if the drivers camera picked up I wasn’t looking straight ahead - hence I thought e RZ would be the same.
  9. Thanks. I wondered if turning off the attention camera meant I didn’t get extended restart in traffic. I’ll turn the darn thing off. I have asked the dealer why the excess speed warning is in ‘My Settings’ it still defaults. I’m sure the answer will be ‘it is what it is’ Thanks again
  10. John - the grumbles with the system are that despite having My Settings’ you have to set the ‘hold’ function and disable the excess speed bong every time and the driver ‘paying attention camera is too sensitive. I understand these are EU requirements that have to be set every time. As I said, I now have a ‘start procedure’ ! My wife’s Honda is even worse for sensitivity and difficulty in turning down or off so called protection.
  11. John - welcome to early owners club from next week. I seem to currently be the only owner on here - perhaps the others are too busy reading the manual. This is one car you really have to read the flipping manual for - 700 pages for the car and 300+ for the multimedia so lucky it’s a bank holiday. No doubt you have already downloaded both books. It will be good to exchange ranges and good & not so good points. I have found out that the few very minor grumbles I have with the systems are caused by Euro regulations and not Lexus being over cautious. Which and colour have you gone for ?
  12. My discount was for not taking protection - I got the car detailed and ceramic coated inside & out for a guy I used before - cost £ 700
  13. I got the original price so £3k less than list, a spectacular price for my Range Rover and £ 600 discount although shown as an increase in ox value - didn’t have much use for the Japanese Green Tea Set.
  14. Dealer told me today Remote Parking is not, nor will be available. They haven’t installed the necessary hardware. Will now escalate it to Lexus UK. I am finding the range to be better than expected. High speed runs with part time aircon seem to use less battery than indicated or expected. Yesterday I did 43 miles according to the car and Tracker. It was 70% dual carriageway at 70 mph with the aircon set to 17C for about half the time - the range reduced by 48 miles so doing 70mph and 50% aircon used only 5 additional miles of range. On a full charge at say 15 - 20c the range predicts 225 or 185 with aircon so a loss of say 20%. My previous journeys and yesterday’s indicated with 50% aircon and high speed about 10% loss. I may be wrong but I think the range predictions are deliberately pessimistic. As I confirmed in an earlier post, the charge rate of 10% - 80% in less than 30 mins on a 150kw charger is correct so all those reports about taking an hour+ must have been on faulty chargers. I don’t think there will be a larger battery version of the RZ anytime soon, probably a different model. I am expecting them to increase the range by offering a slower single motor version. One thing I meant to try was to run on Range Mode - this restricts to just one motor and turns aircon off and limits speed to 60mph. That would be an indicator of what a single motor version’s range would be. I am biased, but I don’t regret for a moment swapping my Range Rover Velar plug-in for the RZ. I have done almost 700 miles and the car just seems to get better - bongs aside, although I do have a ‘start up procedure’ now ! Good luck making the right decision - my question would be, if not the RZ then what ? The similar size and price Genesis G70 has a reported range of 20 miles more. Whilst the Tesla Model Y has a far greater range and is significantly cheaper do you think that you’ll get the build quality and finish of a RZ. You pays your money …….!
  15. You appear to be a fan of Tesla as are a lot of buyers, almost every article I have read praises the range but they have their faults too - poor build quality being the main one. In the 2022 Driver Power satisfaction survey, despite owners being impressed with range and efficiency, 44% of owners (not reviewers) recorded that their car had had a fault, worse than any of the other 28 manufacturers in the survey. Personally, I prefer the conservative and reliable approach from Lexus rather than the build to a price approach - there is a reason Tesla significantly dropped the prices recently. It is a fact that the RZ range is less than a lot of the competition but in other aspects it is better - that said, I have only done 600 miles in the RZ but to date the real range and charge time is nearer to the ‘official’ figures compared to other (admittedly by reviewers) manufacturers.
  16. I had a tracker fitted today. The installer said that as Range Rover had changed the location of the cabling (now requiring a hole to be cut into the tailgate) the thieves were now concentrating their efforts on Fords. He thought Toyota / Lexus now fitted the ‘plates’ and they were available for retrofitting although Toyota / Lexus weren’t making that well known.
  17. Two points - if it’s heating that consumes more power then surely the radiant heaters are far more efficient than blowing hot air. You say Lexus is misleadingly hiding range but the published figures say the battery is almost 72kw but the usable is 64kw How is that hiding ? Not sure why you are on this forum as your only contribution is criticisms.
  18. Not too dissimilar too what I am finding the RZ maybe 10% more. Having the front only a/c on is fine for us. When I looked at the G70 I thought it was similar to the RZ range wise. Glad your enjoying it !
  19. F.A. - what range are you getting for fast driving with the air on on ?
  20. Good luck with the Genesis. I kept going back to look at a GV70 but decided to stick with the Lexus. Mostly as the true range on the GV70 was only about 20 miles more, the lack of dealerships IF something goes wrong (I wasn’t confident in their assurances about collecting / dropping off and then also the battery warranty covering degradation above 30% and not 10% like Lexus. I doubt I’ll keep the car for 10 years but the degradation could occur in the early years. That said, with 30% degradation the GV60 would still be about the same as the RZ ! I use this site - if you haven’t seen it before have a look at the GV60 figures - https://ev-database.org/uk/car/1647/Genesis-GV60-Premium
  21. It was about 45 and 195 with only the ‘concierge’ aircon on. I think a lot of the reviews are inaccurate as the reviewers rarely delve into the owners manual and so miss what Lexus have done to minimise the effects of the aircon & heating. You can set the aircon to only cool front occupied seats - no passenger then it senses that and only the driver is heated / cooled. The seats heating / ventilating doesn’t seem to effect the range and there is the Climate Concierge which heats / cools to reflect the interior and outside temperatures rather than setting a temperature - I think all the reviews that say 150 miles range have the aircon / heating on full blast which does definitely reduce the range by about 40 miles - as other EV’s. The temperature today was about 17C and the ‘concierge’ seemed to keep it reasonably cool without dragging the range down too much.
  22. See photo - I was at about 20% and went on a 150kw charger. It ramped up to 140Kw and took it to 82% in less than 30 mins so as per brochure.
  23. I have my car insured by NFU (you get the replacement cost of a new car for 2 years after purchase from new). I had a 2 year old RR Velar, they said as I was an existing customer they would renew it in November but warned it was going to be very expensive. For new customers they refuse to insure any Land Rover Range Rovers unless they are older than 5 years. I was discussing my switch to a RZ450e and they had no problem to insure that but said RX’s are getting up there with RR’s for theft. To insure the Velar it had to have a S5 tracker, the RZ doesn’t have to have one, when I told them I am having one fitted the price remained the same.
  24. If anyone is thinking going full EV and has deep pockets I suspect there will be RZ 450e’s available as people who ordered without a test drive or car range may be cancelling. The demo at my dealers turned up on the same ship as my car.
