  1. Not too dissimilar too what I am finding the RZ maybe 10% more. Having the front only a/c on is fine for us. When I looked at the G70 I thought it was similar to the RZ range wise. Glad your enjoying it !
  2. F.A. - what range are you getting for fast driving with the air on on ?
  3. Good luck with the Genesis. I kept going back to look at a GV70 but decided to stick with the Lexus. Mostly as the true range on the GV70 was only about 20 miles more, the lack of dealerships IF something goes wrong (I wasn’t confident in their assurances about collecting / dropping off and then also the battery warranty covering degradation above 30% and not 10% like Lexus. I doubt I’ll keep the car for 10 years but the degradation could occur in the early years. That said, with 30% degradation the GV60 would still be about the same as the RZ ! I use this site - if you haven’t seen it before have a look at the GV60 figures - https://ev-database.org/uk/car/1647/Genesis-GV60-Premium
  4. It was about 45 and 195 with only the ‘concierge’ aircon on. I think a lot of the reviews are inaccurate as the reviewers rarely delve into the owners manual and so miss what Lexus have done to minimise the effects of the aircon & heating. You can set the aircon to only cool front occupied seats - no passenger then it senses that and only the driver is heated / cooled. The seats heating / ventilating doesn’t seem to effect the range and there is the Climate Concierge which heats / cools to reflect the interior and outside temperatures rather than setting a temperature - I think all the reviews that say 150 miles range have the aircon / heating on full blast which does definitely reduce the range by about 40 miles - as other EV’s. The temperature today was about 17C and the ‘concierge’ seemed to keep it reasonably cool without dragging the range down too much.
  5. See photo - I was at about 20% and went on a 150kw charger. It ramped up to 140Kw and took it to 82% in less than 30 mins so as per brochure.
  6. I have my car insured by NFU (you get the replacement cost of a new car for 2 years after purchase from new). I had a 2 year old RR Velar, they said as I was an existing customer they would renew it in November but warned it was going to be very expensive. For new customers they refuse to insure any Land Rover Range Rovers unless they are older than 5 years. I was discussing my switch to a RZ450e and they had no problem to insure that but said RX’s are getting up there with RR’s for theft. To insure the Velar it had to have a S5 tracker, the RZ doesn’t have to have one, when I told them I am having one fitted the price remained the same.
  7. If anyone is thinking going full EV and has deep pockets I suspect there will be RZ 450e’s available as people who ordered without a test drive or car range may be cancelling. The demo at my dealers turned up on the same ship as my car.
  8. According to WLTP tests 18” is 4.3 m/Kw and 3.8 m/Kw with 20” in perfect conditions. With heating / air on these reduce to 3.3 and 3. These are from the site I got the charging curve from. This also has their own results and in perfect conditions it’s 2.7 and with air on / heat it’s 2.5. I use ‘display 3’ with the consumption in the middle - today doing 70 down a dual carriageway (15C) with seat vent and intermittent air on it was displaying 2.8. I am having a tracker fitted next week which will give me precise journey distances and I intend to run the battery down to below 20% and see what the real time is to 80% on a 150kv charger And then see what the consumption is. The site has the figures for most manufacturers EV models. Makes interesting reading if you have the time https://evkx.net/models/lexus/rz/rz_450e/rangeandconsumption/ I am getting used to the fiddly controls for the auto driving etc. on the steering wheel and really enjoying the car - despite some bl**dy beeping ! I took it in to have a personal plate put on it and the guys there said it looked a stunning car - I have the copper & black but they thought it would look good in the other colours as well. By the way, the lack of a rear wiper isn’t prob - in reasonably heavy rain it stayed clear
  9. I never realised that the charge rate given by all EV manufacturers is a bit misleading. I naively presumed that a 150kw charger would charge at that speed from start to finish. Couldn’t be more wrong. Below is the charge curve for the RZ - this is not a Lexus document. Whilst the speed drops rapidly once the battery is above 30% it still means 20% to 80% is achievable in about 30 mins - so I am told.
  10. John - Thanks I’ll check the locking wheel nut tomorrow. The Remote Parking isn’t in the App and the button below the screen is for auto parking, it’s alongside the camera button. My dealer is really embarrassed that Remote Parking is in the brochure yet not available. They are in talks with Lexus UK over it plus the lack of second key, the driving aids reverting to default instead of being saved in My Settings and the lack of ‘send to car’ in the App despite the Lexus video showing it ! I’m fairly resigned to these sort of ‘issues’ having had the same experience on my previous new Range Rover and new BMW. Audi had a fairly major issue with their infotainment system and told clients it would take 9 months to sort. Even Porsche have had major software issues - the launch of the electric Macan has been delayed over 6+ months - https://www.motor1.com/news/616223/porsche-macan-ev-delayed-2024/ In my case, getting 90% residual on the Velar after 2 years against the RZ was a no brainer - I can’t see the residuals remaining that strong so keeping it another year could have cost me say £ 25k. On that basis, a few grumbles with the RZ are inconsequential. The projected residual of the RZ is 57% to 59% at 3 years by What Car so pretty strong. I’m thinking that a lot of Lexus buyers are not business users so the lack of competitive range won’t be so important to them. Hope springs eternal. Good luck deciding and making the right choice.
  11. Range update. Got in the car with 100% charge and 248 miles showing. Drove 95 miles of 50% 70 mph dual carriageway and lanes & town. 14C outside with intermittent use of the air con (front only). Range at the end was 140. So 140 + 95 = 235 so intermittent a/c & brake reg reduced the range 13 miles. I would probably use the a/c more if I wasn’t experimenting. The dealer is looking into why the ‘over speed’ notification returns to visual & vibration default after journey is over.
  12. John - just a thought. Have you checked the DC Power limit - according to the manual, for some reason you can change it to 50kw and in stages up to 150kw. Hopefully that was the cause. I’ll be checking mine in the morning. Owner Manual coverage is :-
  13. So, collected my Takumi today. Initial disappointments were despite all the marketing info saying otherwise, Remote Parking is not available (it is under development). I only received one key and no 'card', this is also under development ! I have lodged a complaint about the Remote Parking with Lexus UK Customer Service and I'll post on here what they say. Everything else - really good. My findings are after coming out of a Range Rover Velar P400e HSE with £ 10k of options. With 15 miles on 'the clock' and temperature reporting 20 C, the range - fully charged it showed 245 m. Turned A/C on Low (on for all car not just the front), reduced mileage to 196. Cooled the car and turned A/C but seat vents on and range went back to about 235 after doing about 5 miles with the A/C on. Having read the owners manual I managed to turn off all the bongs for the driver assistance and over speed and lower the sensitivity of the all the 'protection'. This then drove the same as the Velar - slight nudge if changing lane without signalling - you can turn it off entirely but I think a nudge is ok. The sunroof dimming seemed to just turn it milky white but I'm not sure whether it did reduce the heat - quite a warm day. The electric door opening and feel of the doors certainly makes it feel a prestige car. The Ultra Suede is excellent - see how hard wearing it is. I'm having the car ceramic coated and will have the seats treated as well - I had that on Velar and the near white leather seats after 2 years looked like new. The seats are really comfortable - I'm 6' 2" but I think it a little mean not to have an extendable cushion - just meant I had to put the seat back a bit further to extend for 'level' legs. I will miss the massage seats in the last 3 cars. Headroom for me is ample - despite being 6' 2" I could raise the seat and still have plenty of headroom - advantage of a fixed relatively thin fixed panoramic roof. Let's in far more light than the black roofs in my previous cars. The HUD is a vast improvement to the previous ones from Merc, BMW and Range Rover. Really crisp and informative with novel arrows - when you see it, you'll know what I mean. Whilst writing this the car has been on my Hypervolt charger (this is my second charger and they are excellent) and it has just finished - The Lexus Link App is reporting 244 miles range and 195 with full A/C. The Connected Services take up to 24 hours so I'll post how they are when they are set up. Overall I am really pleased and whilst the range will not suit some people, I am very happy that 240 miles is real but of course not with the A/C or doing 70 mph. I have researched the charging and as long as you're prepared to pay a premium price there seems plenty of availability of 150kw charger - 79p / kw so about £ 40 to 80%. Hope this is informative and a little reassuring for anyone still sticking with the thought of purchasing.
  14. I tried this afternoon on a 150kw charger and it was very slow. Rang the 'expert' at the dealers and he said if the battery is more than 80% it reduces the charge rate to protect the battery. He said that's why all the data refers to 10% or 20% - 80%. I'll see if he is correct and I'll go to the same charger with say 50% in the battery. My battery was 88% and I was trying it only to see how pain free using a charger was - it was. I am going to start a new thread for initial views of owners, rather than regurgitating articles from the web as my experience so far is a lot different to most of the web articles
  15. Interestingly, the UK article in the same blog is far more encouraging than the American one. https://worldcarblog.com/en/car-models/lexus/99-cars/lexus/1353-new-lexus-rz-450e-2023-review#gsc.tab=0
  16. Not sure when the video was made - he refers to it being a prototype. I have researched things after my test drive and I think things must have moved on. The EV-Database confirms that on a 150kw charger it takes 28 minutes from 20 to 156 (say 10% to 80%), certainly not 3 hours. If it was a prototype then it may have been set up as the bZ was at launch - they kept 20% ish hidden so that even if the range said 0 you still had range to get to a charger - they quickly abandoned that. On my test drive on a reasonably warm day the charge was showing as about 80% and range was 195. Turning the a/c on full blast took it down to 165. (All EV’s suffer around 11% to 17% for using that). Using the seat ventilation onl, put the range back up to 195. Reading the manual (all 1,000 pages including the multimedia one) you can set the heating / air on to only work in the front and if you precondition it using that and the heated / vent seats would probably be enough. The manual says you can turn the beeps off but keep the function on - we did that on the drive and it seemed to sort it - again the manual says you can set the sensitivity with 3 choices and if you want the over speed warning on then you can set it to +5. I understand most of these things are now mandatory. The battery is warranted to be 90% at 10 years. Most other manufacturers warrant 70% at 7 or 8 years. Tesla don’t warrant the depletion, only total failure. With the conventional warranty being extendable up to 10 years then it is no surprise that the ‘ mechanicals’ are conservative. Apologies if you got reading this !
  17. After my test drive I posted my thoughts on a different thread. The research after this confirmed that all EV’s suffer big range reductions as a result of the a/c or heaters - study found between 11% - 17%. In my test drive the car was charged at about 80% showing 195 miles range without the a/c and 160 with it on full blast. As I am getting my car next week (I’ve seen it at the dealers) I am ploughing through the manual. Rather than turning the a/c or heating off, if there is only 2 of you the system can be set to only heat / cool the front. Using the heated / ventilated seats doesn’t affect the range and the radiant heaters will reduce the range significantly less than heating on full blast. This in addition to pre-heating / cooling should improve the range. If I were a company car driver, driving regular long distances I probably wouldn’t buy an RZ but for my usage its range is fine. The efficiency of miles / Kw seems good and nobody else warrants that the battery will not be depleted below 90% over 10 years. VW, Tesla, Kia etc warrant 70% in 8 years. I was very tempted by Genesis, their batteries are covered for up to 10 years but depletion doesn’t seem to be covered. As I intend to keep the car for some time, the confidence to provide such a small battery depletion and extended warranty up to 10 years was a winner for me. I read loads of reviews not only criticising the range but charging speed. I looked into this and using a 150kw rapid charger (10% - 80%) for the RZ took about 10 mins longer than the cars they were praising - every day that might be a consideration but for occasional long journeys is it that important ? As you can tell, I am taken with the RZ and I am sure it won’t be back to the dealers about 8 times in 2 years as my bought from new Range Rover Velar P400e has been
  18. Thanks for the tip - WeBuy were £ 60k, Motorway indicated £ 64k. I gave the dealer the Motorway price and they confirmed £62 px so I went with that - no hassle outcome. I am getting 89% of what I paid 2 years ago so a good trade really. I had a test drive yesterday (see my other post if interested) and amazingly my car was at the dealers as it came on the same ship and transporter as the demo !
  19. I’m not sure but my glasses definitely darkened and yet the interior wasn’t overly bright. I am ploughing through the manual now - all 700+ pages
  20. Bit the bullet and confirmed I will buy the car. It’s at the dealers, still with the protective tape on it. Collecting it next Wednesday. Had a lengthy test drive and my concerns were overcome - after the Range Rover I thought the seat height would be more like a saloon but it isn’t. It’s not quite as high as the RR but fine to step into. I’m 6’ 2” and there is enough headroom for me to raise the seat and still have plenty of clear headroom. The fit and finish is classic Lexus. I was concerned what the Orage Ultra Suede would be like on my Copper / Black car - having had leather for 20+ years. It really felt prestige and is a good & practical colour. It goes ok with the copper / black externals. My major concern was the range. Having done some research it all made more sense now. Lexus appear to calculate the range shown more realistically than some other manufacturers - they keep some back so even if the range is showing 0 you still have range to get to a charger. Lexus are the only manufacturer warranting that the battery will be no less than 90% capacity after 10 years. When I got in the car (fairly warm day) it was about 80% charged showing 195 miles. Putting the aircon on full blast shrank the range to 160. I have since found out that studies confirm that all EV’s loose between 11% - 17% when the heating or a/c is used. BUT if you precondition the car before driving and use the seat ventilation to cool it doesn’t affect the range. Similarly in the winter if you use the heated seats and radiant heaters after pre-heating then you don’t eat into the real range. Not very helpful if you regularly carry rear seat passengers ! Having learnt you can turn off the speeding bong and others the only snag I found was that the instrument cluster was a bit dark despite the illumination being on max. I found that my ‘reactor lite’ glasses were dark which hasn’t happened in previous cars with tinted windscreen. When I took them off the display was ok. I’ll have a pair of normal specs in the car for just driving. The dealer has been great and matched a very good price for my Range Rover Velar and of course held last years price which is £ 3k below current list. I took the dive to buy the RZ as not least it was available now - I am convinced that the used car / residuals are going to normalise over the next 6 to 9 months and if that happens I would lose a fortune. My px on a 2 year old car is 89% of what I paid, if the residuals normalise the car would probably draw no more than 50% at 3 years old so it would lose me £ 27k over the next 12 months - worth taking a risk with RZ then as I can’t see it losing 40% in the next year. I hope I haven’t bored everyone with this long post. I thought it may be useful to all those waiting for a test drive.
  21. Mine is at the dealers. Arrived the same time as the demo - or they are using mine as the demo ! Spoke to NFU and they said the insurance would be the same as my Range Rover Velar P400e. They provide a new car for a total write off/ theft for the first 2 years from new.
  22. I have a test drive this Thursday and my car is in Portbury, no doubt with plenty of others. This is the first test drive I have ever had where I am pretty sure I won’t buy !
  23. The website says delivery summer 2023 so they need to start informing what they are going to provide. I did wonder if Fisker is one of the reasons Tesla dramatically reduced their prices and there is talk of a further price cut.
  24. I’ve looked at the Fisker before. My reservation with it a lack of info regards servicing and warranty work. Genesis get over this by promising a service where they collect / deliver the car and provide a curtesy car - can’t see anything on Fiskers site.
