  1. Hi 84 Stoney Wonder if you could clear something up for me as you seem to be well informed regarding keys. My car is aa IS 200 SE 2001 I have only 1 key a 2 button key & have been told by my garage (not a Lexus ) that it is 'registered' as a sub key and that a master key cannot be reprogrammed off it. (A 3 button key would cost £600 - ECU plus key plus fitting & reprogramming) I would like to have another key - ideally a 3 button key to operate door, boot & immobiliser - if not I have been told I can clone the 2 button key I have to spare. And assume to achieve this I would need 1 blank then have this cut & a second hand key to obtain the transponder etc put them together and reprogramme it to match 'clone' my existing 2 button key. Any advice would be much appreciated. I am based in South London but can travel if required item.
  2. I bought 1 from ebay but it is the wrong size - 60mm dia. needs to be 80mm dia. I did not read the description fully as just saw Lexus - but the guy said he will take it back & send refund as a sign of goodwill. The only one I have seen that is 80mm dia is from Halfords but seems a little long. If I manage to locate them anywhere will post on here as I am also looking for one also.
  3. Thanks for the info guys - was lazy and had a 100,000 mile service done with cambelt change but will change it every 6 months or 6,000 miles myself - have got a CD manual from ebay which helps.
  4. Hope this is posted in the correct place - if not please let me know Albin B Motors Ltd, Unit 2b, Maybrey Works, 2, Worsley Bridge Road, London SE26 5AZ Contact : Kevin Barnett. Tel: 020 8650 7080 Email:albinbmotors@btconnect.com Wozza on the forum mentioned them and as I work in Croydon they are relatively close so thought I would get a quote etc. from them. I bought a Lexus IS 200 SE 94,000 miles Y reg. in Jan 08 and following info from this site decided to get cambelt changed and seviced. Just a note to say just had my car serviced and cambelt change at the above garage and was very impressed with their pleasant, helpful manner and value for money. The premises is clean and organised which I always see as an impression of a well run business. I initially asked for cambelt change and 100,000 mile service and check the waterpump while it was 'exposed'. Kevin Barnett said he would contact me if waterpump was required. He did come back to me letting me know a small problem encountered but with Kevin's prompt response had time to sort that suited both of us. Sevice manual was stampted and noted cambelt & spark plugs changed. Car was picked up cleaned inside and out - nice touch. Kevin noted I need some new front shocks as they are leaking and emailed me with costs the following day - I will be back to have these fitted once they are available - personally I have no problem recommending them.
  5. Hi - I am a recent Lexus owner - secondhand 2001 IS200SE - I had a similar problem. I left the car for a week or so and the keys with some friends. When I collected the car the remote would not work and like you opened the drivers door manually with the key that started the car alarm off. Put the key in the ignition and started the car & was ok. I think once the key warmed up it had a little more life to lock the car remotley. I changed the battery and all seems well now - I know you said you changed the battery but they are fiddley - maybe try reinstalling battey - check polarity possibly. I have heard that you may only get a certain time to change the battery in the key fob (ie remove old one & replace with new one) so that code is not lost. As others have said, I had a Micra out on hire and same thing happened in a petrol station - it would not start with keyless ignition - hire repair guys said push away from petrol pump which did the trick.
  6. Hi Parthiban The one I ordered off ebay was a guy selling a single one - but I have purchased one from Halfords which says it fits an 80mm dia but I think it is a bit long ie would stick past the standand rear valance on my IS 200 SE but may suit your 'skirted' option if a longer trim would suit. I am waiting for the one I ordered off ebay to arrive and assuming it all fits ok I will have the Halfords one as spare - it cost me £ 15 but if any good for you will accept £ 10 - I will try to get pics uploaded of the trim would be Thursday 21st
  7. Thanks Sagitar but I already have my 'George Forman' cable tied to the exhaust - need the chrome cover as it makes the 'fat' splashes easier to clean - lol I bought a cover in good old Halfords (80mm dia) for £ 15 but may need some mods as seems slightly long - then browsed ebay yesterday eve and found one and have ordered it. Thanks guys for you info.
  8. Hi Guys Not really into the 'image' mods but the exhaust on my IS202 SE is rusty and I think dosn't look great so would like to slide over a chrome tailpipe cover to make it look a bit better. Have any of you guys know anywhere I can purchase such a cover - or size, prices etc. Thanks in anticipation.
  9. Thanks guys for the recommendations. I will order 1 once my Paypal account is set up. Hear's to dirty fingernails soon - lol.
  10. Any of you guys bought from ebay any of the CD Service/Maintenance manuals - recommendations ? They seem really cheap £ 2.50 + 1.75 p&p and 'appear' to look ok. Any advice much appreciated - as new Lexus owner and like do a few maintence jobs myself.
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Think I might try ABM as you suggested Wozza for a full service plus cambelt tensioners etc. Thanks for the recommendation. Will let you know how I got on.
  12. If anybody has given their IS 200 SE an oil change I would appreciate any info / recommendation - if it was difficult etc. , any special tools required.
  13. Hi - I have just bought a seconhand IS 200 SE - little high milege (93000) on 2001 'Y' reg but being a Toyota and has a full service history. Am pleased with it - always liked the look of them - my last car was a Alpha 156 2 litre (Sports pack 3). Hope to many trouble free miles and looking forward to info & recommendations on these forum boards.
